Description of Work: I hired this person ,as i need to men who can rehab a older home. I have used one for 5 months with excellant work performance and quality. My original handyman was out of town for a couple of weeks so I allowed this person Eric to work for me and what a NIGHTMARE!!!. First who tries to put in drywall and not tarp off the entrance to the existing room!!! I got home as I did not babysit him and found drywall dust -thick and on EVERYTHING!!!! I then had to procede in doing HIS cleanup from the mess where he was working and left. I let that go...then the second day i told him,he admits i should have tarped. Also turned off the breakers to the ajoining rooms so could not see. I spent that night at my sons as i have asthma and the air was so thick with drywall. The second day I returned -he left a bill YET when I looked I then had lights back on and saw the drywall and patrcial sanding he did was in 4 ROOMS again- no tarping he said and no shop vac he had..oh my gosh so I used my vacumm which is ruined . The drywall was never finished...put up and he decides to take out the old trim from door jam AFTER the drywall is up!!!! Should it not be the otherway around!!! The drywall was now 3 inches short width wise and short over 3 feet in lenght and he said to fill it in w/wood...no its a wall not trim area . I couldnt believe what i was hearing. Then he put the light sconces up .I inch from the ceiling so they are not centered nor even with distance..looks like someone cant see judgement or measure.I even showed him where to place. The best is they were also put up upside down and mud still existed which was not sanded around that whole area. You put up lights in the wrong spot, upside down and drywall not completed.hmm something is wrong here. Then he ruined two brand new stairs and never told me and then when i told him the second day he filled in with wood marker. Not exceptable these were only 1 month old . The drywall bows so the trim I want up would be hard to put up now as the width goes from 2 inches to 2 1/4 back to 2....so the drywall has to come down for many reasons. I have had to stay at my sons for 5 evenings due to the drywall dust and his lack of tarping. I had to hire a cleaning lady to come in and it took to WET cleanings and 26 hours. In every corner, cabinet knick nacks, brand new shades in 4 rooms .I have ebony furniture and leather dining room seats and it still could use one more cleaning. He did see the mess he left due to his poor work and i showed him around the house and he refused to believe he left that mess. So what is he trying to do to my mind....He still wanted to get paid and then asked for only 1/2. I told him AFTER i have three men look at his work. Well, after the cleaning and the men looking -I refuse and told him that. As for today I called him and left a message for his insurance companies name as I am in 750 debt between cleaning ,damage and not even reflecting on my health or inconvenience. I have my other guy coming back in two weeks as he is out of town now,but he will be doing the work. I do pay and pay extra(tip) when my guys have done a good job and I told Eric this. Its quite a shame and i am not a happy person with his quality.I went to the dr yesterday and yep....drywall did alot to my asthma...thanks Eric I promise I will never call you for service -still waiting for your insurance company number-have photos and documentation from all parties to back me up.My overall......TERRIBLE_NIGHTMARE!!! He never completed the job and what he did is all wrong, not only in my eyes but by three contractors.

In my quest of doing handyman work I have come across many tuff tasks and handled them. I was hired to redrywall the back hall. Customer would remove old sheetrock and lathe. This is a very dusty task and in my opinion is where the dust in the home came from. My job consisted of cutting drywall outside where it was already stacked. Four holes were cut inside for outlets. On first day our only discussion was the mounting of lights then customer left not to return till late in day. before closing shop we talked about removing trim around door on next day. On that next day I mudded, hung lights, cut old trim from around door. In cutting old trim it opened a big gap between new drywall and door. This is one of those situations where you open up a can of worms and now have new issues to deal with. This was not part of my job but I will discuss with customer. She came home after I was gone and did not like what she saw and from there our short discussion went south.Extra problems can arise in old home projects, but if the customer dos not try to help in the solution then nothing can be resolved. In regaurds to the hanging of lights, the position was discussed prior to work and bracing was placed accodingly. At this point customer got unruly so I was forced to file a judgement. In court mediation I settled for na partial settlement so customer could hire her usual contractor to repair problems. I have always given up and beyond in the 18 years of being self employed. This customer is the first I have ever had to file a judgement against. It is unfortunate and regretful but in this case necessary. Old houses can sometimes be a nightmare. Communicatioln is key to great success in any job and life in general. When communication is lost most everything will fail. Best of wishes to all. Eric- A to Z Handyman

It was a harder job then he expected. He had a hard time making the inner door fit because of an addition to the house that was made after the original door was installed, he even had to temporarily remove a few pieces of siding. The installation took all day and into mid-evening, but Eric hung in and finished in one day.
Description of Work: Eric installed new back doors at my kitchen entrance, the inner door and the storm door.

We opted not to use them because we did some business with them in the past and the ownership has changed hands. We weren't as happy as we were when they did doors for us in the past.
Description of Work: They came out and gave us a quote.
