Because of the strange winter weather in late 2008 and early 2009, the work crew was not able to begin until late March 2009. After starting it took only 4 or 5 work days to complete. Everything was done completely professionally. The roof looks wonderful.
Description of Work: Bear Lake Roofing installed a standing seam steel (24 gauge) roof on our home and garage.

Having no confidence in the ability or of Bear Lake Roofing to complete this job properly (the inspector's report suggests that they used many unacceptable, haphazard and compromising techniques some of which actually encouraged water to enter the house), we engaged an attorney to contact Bear Lake Roofing, to provide a copy of the report and request restitution in the amount of a new roofer's bid for complete removal and replacement (22,673.49) of the roof Bear Lake had installed. The new roofer's assessment was consistent with the inspectors, except that he noted some additional problems. Bear Lake's attorney responded with an offer of only $2,000 to settle the matter, and requested access to inspect the roof before it was replaced. We gave them a two week deadline to inspect, but they never replied. We then had the roof replaced to prevent additional damage to the house. We are now considering a lawsuit, but would prefer to settle the matter out of court, if possible.
Description of Work: Bear Lake Roofing was hired to put a new metal roof on my remodeled house. They completed the roof, and guaranteed it against leaks. My contractor paid them in full. But a closer visual inspection of the roof revealed shoddy workmanship, including several spaces left open to the elements, animals and insects, and several locations where both the materials and construction looked problematic. Heavy use of caulk seemed apparent as a ''leak-proofing'' device. When the roof leaked in the first major rain, we called Bear Lake Roofing back to fix it. The solution was more caulk and heavy use of (very ugly) tar where the metal met brick an obviously temporary fix. When the roof leaked again in two spots a month or so later, we called in an independent inspector. His 18 page report detailed a litany of very serious defects and suggested that the entire roof had been put on in such a way that it would require complete removal and replacement.
