Custom Surface Design

Good interaction. Inquired about garage epoxy surfacing and driveway sealer. Brought a neighbor in also. Calls from each of us not returned to arrange services in fall or this summer. Long drive for him and that may be why. Brought neighbor in to help make it worthwhile. But no call back.

Given the timing between the pouring of the driveway in early fall and the approaching winter, I was in a bit of a time crunch to get the new driveway properly sealed as recommended by the builder. I spoke with Don, who provided an initial estimated higher than I what I anticipated, but when we talked through the quality of the sealer and the work to be performed, I came to realize it was an appropriate cost for the services. Don was courteous, helpful, prompt ....professional in every way and delivered the promised service with all expectations met. I would definitely use this provider again if I was in need of the offered services.

This is a time consuming process. We had to empty out the garage and it was several days for them to get it done. The result was beautiful. As it has been over a year now, a few issues that have come up. First, these floors get extremely slippery when wet. This is a problem that requires careful notice when snow or rain get into the garage. I'm really not sure this is a good climate (Wisconsin) for this kind of thing. Second, we had the coating extended beyond the garage door about 3and quot; to meet the edge of our concrete driveway. Not sure if this was a result of the snowplowing in the winter, but, that extended edge cracked and buckled, so, we now have a very rough front portion to the epoxy finish. Neither of these issues were the appliers fault, they were very professional and did what they promised. If you use them, I would not encourage you to extend the edge beyond your garage door. They did not force us to do this. With regard to the slippery surface, I don't know if there is a solution. When clean and dry it looks really nice and it does seem to be a very tough finish.

We had a front porch which had hairlines cracks and was badly spalled. We had been originally told by concrete contractors that the entire porch would have to be removed and replaced. After going on Angie's List, we contacted Custom Surface Design and Don came out to examine the porch. He gave us an estimate and thoroughly explained what his process involved and what to expect. He helped us pick out the appropriate colors to match our existing brickwork. Don showed up to do the project on what seemed to be the hottest two days we have had this summer. At least the porch was partly shaded which helped a little. Don is one of the hardest working tradesmen we have ever worked with. He is absolutely meticulous in his preparations and in his execution of the work. In addition, He has a very engaging personality, and is one of the friendliest and most easy skilled workers we have dealt with. He kept us thoroughly informed of his progress all the way through the project. The outcome was fantastic and far exceeded our expectations. The appearance of our front porch has improved many fold, thanks to Don and his skills, and has an appearance which is far better that if we had replaced the porch. Also the cost and inconvenience compared to replacing the porch was far less. We would highly recommend him and his company, Custom Surface Design, to any prospective customer, and would be only too happy to provide him with the highest possible reference.

THE JOB WENT JUST AS DON SAID COULD NOT BE HAPPIER

He went throughh everything and explained the process to me so I understand. There are so many companies that do the same thing. It's not exactly the same thing but they do. He explained the difference between poxy and epoxy because their were tons of them and he take the time although he knew it was just a free estimate.

Don and his staff did a really excellent job. It is clear that he is a perfectionist. This work required about 4 days to complete, and, to be on the safe side, we are planning to leave the garage empty for 3 more days before moving stuff back in. He is professional, honest, neat and cares about the quality of the job they do. You could eat off the floor now!

They were the only company that we could find that could do what we were looking for at a reasonable price. We felt confident about their process. They were able to work on their own and we didn't have to be there. He kept us informed of the process as they went along. They were professional and knowledgeable about what they were doing. Sometime after the floor was done we noticed some oil coming up from the flooring and he is currently working with us to resolve this problem.
