Clear Choice USA Windows

We Purchased windows in December 2010, the service provider, Scott Gradel Sr. sent a personal friend, not employee of the business. We wanted to use our old storm windows, the man that Mr. Gradel sent did not know anything and said he would find out. he was on the phone several times during the consultation trying to figure out details because he didn’t know the product. When they came out to install the windows, the Storm windows that were on our house, we were told they would not fit, and they set them to the side. Since the installation, there has been a lot of air leakage, we were told that it was because we purchased double pane windows, and not triple pane windows. We were told that we could get a good deal on the triple pane windows through the company that Mr. Gradel used, the original estimate was $30 a window. After talking with the company it ended up being the original price of the windows. We have 29 window in the house to replace, 16 were actually replaced by Mr. Gradel. the only resolution had to our not being satisfied with the windows was to offer us a reduced price on replacing the remaining 13 windows. After spending the winter observing how the windows performed, we did not take him up on his offer and considered that we had wasted our money. After talking to a contractor about yet more new windows he suggested talking to the manufacturer. That did not result in any satisfaction at all. I tried going to the BBB to get some help. Mr. Gradel stated that the windows were in good shape and we were pleased with the windows. If we were happy with the windows and happy with the replacement price, we would have accepted the offer to purchase the rest of the windows. However we were not satisfied. The windows were worse than we originally thought. The triple pain would not have helped, the weather stripping was not sufficient and unsatisfactory. I called Mr. Gradel to come out, he came out and assessed the windows and agreed that there was an air leak. He put in some foam weather strip in the center of the sashes. This did not solve the problem. The air leakage on a windy day was very bad. I called to asked him to bring a smoke machine so he could see the extent of the leakage. This never happened. After that we attempted to call him several times and he never came out. A year ago we started replacing windows again. The contractor saw the air leakage and confirmed to us that it was indeed bad. Mr Gradel stated that he was out of business and no longer involved with the windows. The BBB did not have any sucess in helping us, nor did the Attorney Generals Office for the State of Wisconsin. My hope is that enoug people see this report and the company quits selling bad windows.

All the insulation got wet in the attic and I hired them to take care of it and they didn’t. He took about 2/3rd of it out and he basically tried to tell me it was still wet and convince me the roof was still leaking. I had to bring the roofers back in and I had to hire a home inspector guy to check it and they all found that there was no leak and these guys should have taken all of it out. They should have taken a 100% of it out and replace it but they just took about 2/3rd of it and decided not to. They also do windows. I hired them because they do insulation. I wouldn’t recommend. They come off really good but they didn’t fall through and didn’t do what they were hired to do. They are nice guys but they didn’t do the job. I can’t speak about them doing windows because I haven’t had them for it but I can speak about their insulation. Their price was covered by insurance but I hired them even before insurance was involved. They were pretty punctual. The guys were actually doing the work and they were doing a good job. It was their supervisors who pulled them off the job before it was done. Overall it was a good experience but they wasted a lot of my time and I spent a lot of time with them. I would definitely not recommend them.
