Description of Work: He was informative and explained why we did not need a chimney cleaning as well as other helpful info about our chimney. So, we basically paid $100 for an inspection. This might seem like a bit much, but when you consider that he had to drive about 45 minutes to come do the work... it was reasonable. We are in a small town so anyone coming to do specialized work like this is going to be from out of the area.

Description of Work: I called for an estimate on Chimney sweep as well as the possibility of having a new insert placed. The receptionist was rude, she said the were pretty busy this week and that she would have someone contact me, she hung up- didn't ask for my name or phone number. No one ever called me back. I never called them.

 + 0 moreVery well. I was able to get the appointment time I wanted. He showed up on time and got right to work. Explained to me what he was doing while he did it. Had helpful hints. Encouraged questions. Identified that we needed a new chimney cap. He did not have one on his truck and he offered to come back and install it. He did and the job was well done. He promised to install the cap within a week and be kept that promise.

 + 0 moreGlen examined the wood-burning fireplace and quickly found the chimney did not need cleaning yet. He advised burning soon to help r***** rust. I'd heard that advice before in a previous home. The damper would not open so Glen fixed the problem without breaking the mechanism and explained its operation and care. When he looked at the roof he found the chimney top beginning to crack. I'd noticed that when I installed a rooftop TV antenna the previous week. He advised applying a top coat to preserve the concrete and installing a chimney cap to help with the rust situation. He had to order the cap but returned about a week later to tend to both remianing tasks. Overall, he knew what he was doing, behaved professionally, and charged a reasonable fee for his services.
Description of Work: Opened stuck damper cover, installed chimney top coating, installed chimney cap.
