I ordered a new refrigerator, dishwasher and stove. The sales person was very friendly and very helpful. Yesterday they came to install the items. I have a custom (old) cabinets, and they had to cut out some of the cabinet, (you would never know it), to get the dishwasher in. Then, the refrigerator wouldn't fit thru the door way inside the house. I have a large opening , like a large window, between my living room and kitchen. They removed the doors of the refrigerator, and lifted the refrigerator thru the opening! They did an AWESOME! job. Definitely above and beyond. I'm sure a big box store would have never did what those 2 guys did. I will always go to KP and will always recommend them. Great job guys!!! I really appreciate it!

I talked at length with Frank from KP, and through the course of our conversation, it became clear to me that he is very knowledgeable and willing to listen to his customer's opinions and needs. Frank recommend a Speed Queen washer, because he believes it is the best quality. I got a no frills model, which is what I wanted, and I couldn't be happier with it. I will be glad to give KP my business again, they were great to work with.
Description of Work: I needed a new washer. The one that came with the new home I had just purchased was old, smelly, and not functioning properly.

Oven temperature is much higher than what is set--burning food. Cautions that the age of the stove means the thermostat may fail again & would then need to be replaced. Gave us an economical fix that would keep our >20 yr old stove going a few more years. Friendly and offered us options before going ahead with our choice. Answered phone & came out right away. 1/2015 this "temporary" fix is still working.
Description of Work: lowered thermostat as far as it would go, so 350 setting provides 350 temp.

Pulled apart the instrument panel to reset some switch which was no longer functioning. This will be OK as long as we don't move the switch to use the oven cleaning cycle. Stated cost of a complete fix would be a couple hundred, but this got us cooking while we decide whether to replace the stove (over 20 yr old).
Description of Work: checked our oven non-functioning. Found an economical way to make it a few more years.

I told them walking out to have a good day. Went to another place of business and bought a brand new washer and a beaut to boot. I might add they had the same one for $850. and mine was cheaper and had it been more I still would have gotten it. If you can't trust someone for something as simple as this transaction should have went, how can you trust them for anything else! POOR UNPROFFESIONAL BUSINESS!!
Description of Work: I went to kp appliance looking to purchase a washer, preferably a newer used one. When looking over what they had I found a nice Samsung front door model. The man told me he was selling it for an older women and there was nothing wrong with it. I liked it and he told me $300. would take it. I agreed and thought it was a fair price. I then told him and his wife that I would come tomorrow and pick it up. Asked him if a down payment was needed and he said no. Practically a done deal, great. "I'll be here with my truck and trailer and money tomorrow, see you then", I said. The next day, today, April 11th. I show up and back up to the front doors with the trailer. Excited I went in and seen the both of them standing there with what looked to be an unusual expression on their faces. Looking to were the washer was I noticed it was gone. I looked at the both of them and asked where is the washer was. He approached me and said he "loaded it on a truck earlier". I said what do you mean and he replied, "I sold it". I said "WHAT!" I'm here to pay and pick it up and he tells me it's sold!!!! Quickly he points out that he has another washer,(Bosch) front loader for the same price and he would take $50. off it for the mistake. We'll load er up now. Telling me this is implying your admission to guilt. Feeling totally betrayed and totally burned I said NO. You burned me! After reading some of the poor marks on here I would have never went there. What happened is POOR BUSINESS!

Our washing machine started to leak this week. Given that it is only 8 years old, my husband suggested that we fix it instead of replace it. He called a co-worker, who suggested KP Appliance to do the repair. My husband called this morning, and provided the model number, year of manufacture, and what was going on with the washing machine, since he thought that would all be useful information. He asked the guy if he thought it sounded like it could be something that could be repaired, and the guy responded, and quot;I don't know.and quot; My husband said the guy was not offering any kind of help whatsover with what possibly could be the problem with our washing machine. The guy asked him, and quot;So do you wanna schedule a service call or what.and quot; My husband just told the guy that he wasn't being very helpful. A few seconds after hanging up the phone, my husband received a phone call from the same guy, who shouted at him, and quot;F*** you, you f***ing d*ckhead!and quot; and then hung up on him. After my husband and I talked about it, I decided to call back. This time, a woman answered the phone, and I told her how appalled I was over how a potential customer was treated. The woman began to apologize profusely and informed me that it was her husband (the business owner) with whom my husband had just spoken. She told me, and quot;We just had a lengthy talk about how he was on the phone with your husband. I don't know what got into him.and quot; Just then, I could hear yelling in the background, and I could clearly hear the owner/husband shouting, and quot; We're in this together! Get off the phone!and quot; She then suddenly said, and quot;I have to go right nowand quot; and hung up. End of phone call. I was left dumbfounded by this whole situation. My husband and I have never been treated so awful by anyone looking for your business. The owner was aggressive, demeaning, and rude and apparently has no problem verbally attacking potential customers. He does not understand how powerful word of mouth can be! Needless to say, I called another appliance repair company, and they came out today and fixed the problem!
Description of Work: No work was performed since the owner was completely unprofessional and rude to work with.

Response from Kp Appliance Inc
The caller failed to mention a couple of things. When caller asked what could be wrong with the machine and I told him that I didn't know until I looked at it, and told him the cost of a service call, asked if he wanted us to come out and that we could schedule for Monday, caller said something, and hung up. At this point I called back to see what I had done wrong to make him hang up, caller called me a couple of names and I snapped. I acknowledge that I didn't handle the situation correctly, and I apologize for that, but there was some information, caller withheld on their complaint. It is not our practice to guess over the phone as to what a problem can be. It is also not our practice to talk this way to potential customers. Again, I can not stress how poorly this situation was handled, but I did want to get all the facts in there. Every service person out there knows how hard it is to diagnose a problem over the phone, one can speculate, but it's pretty hard to know if a product is worth fixing, where a leak could be, or what a particular noise is, until they are on site to see or hear. It can be frustrating for the servicer, and most customers don't realize that. I am not saying that I was not at fault here, but I am saying that the caller may have pushed a couple of buttons to get that kind of a response from me. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to respond to this.

KP is the epitome of hometown service. We've worked with them before on appliance repair, so when it came time to buy, we went there first. It doesn't have a great selection of appliances, but sells high-quality items and, when all is said and done, is competitively priced over the long term. You might pay a little bit more up front, but KP's service is what makes doing business with them worthwhile. We purchased both a GE refrigerator and a dishwasher. The dishwasher, unfortunately, did not fit into the spot we had in our house -- a quirk of our kitchen construction -- and the effort to get one turned into quite an ordeal. Through the entire episode, KP was fair and professional. Because KP will give price breaks on installation and delivery if you buy more than one appliance, we went with them and that was one thing that helped drive the cost down to close to the big-box retailers in town. When the dishwasher wouldn't fit, KP took it back and worked with us on options. Ultimately, the installer (Frank) didn't feel that we were going to be able to get a dishwasher into that spot unless it was one of the special ADA-compliant washers, which we found too small. KP cheerfully refunded our money for the washer and didn't charge us for the two extra trips that Frank made to the house. Frank even hauled away our old dishwasher and KP recycled it for us despite our not purchasing a dishwasher from them. Furthermore, he and everyone else at KP was extremely helpful when we went back to KP for more precise measurements on our old dishwasher when we were clearly not going to buy one from them. We love our new fridge. Peggy was really helpful and honest when we were making the decision, and she's a great salesperson because she listens and helps you think through the process. We picked a style she wasn't personally fond of, but her way of talking through the process -- sharing her opinions and knowledge, but not pushing -- helped us make the best choice for us. We ultimately did find a dishwasher for a great price at a big retailer, and a general maintenance contractor (who Frank came out and talked to as they sought a solution together -- no charge!) ended up cutting some notches into our tile floor to get the dishwasher in. The thing that we really appreciated about Frank was throughout the entire process, he kept our best interests in mind, expressing his reservations about possible issues with the dishwasher or cabinetry if we went with a standard size. The contractor's solution worked, but we're more comfortable with everything because of the efforts KP went through with us. KP is the kind of hometown service provider you want to have around. When the big retailers won't help you out later, KP will be there. Great folks!

Ten years ago we bought a Maytag dishwasher from a gentleman who has since passed away and his business closed. We called KP Appliance when the dishwasher suddenly stopped working to see what type of repairs may be necessary. I explained what was happening to the repairman who answered the phone and asked if he thought it would be beneficial to have someone look at it and repair it, or just replace it because it was 10 years old. He practically started laughing, saying there's no way he can determine what's wrong with it without coming out on a service call to look at it. I understand that repairs cannot be made and quot;over the phoneand quot;, but I thought with his experience, he may be able to tell me if this is a common problem that others have had. Needless to say, he was already done listening to me so the conversation soon ended. My next call was to the service department of Furniture and Appliance Mart. They listened once again to my situation, asked questions, gave a couple of suggestions as to what the problem may be (drain plugged, computer needed to be re-set [by turning off power and turning back on] - things we could try at home). Unfortunately, none of their suggestions worked. The gal explained how much the service call would be, commented that it was and quot;probablyand quot; the mother board that needed replacing, gave us a cost estimate and between that cost and the service call, we made the decision to purchase new....from Furniture and Appliance Mart. I wasn't asking for a miracle from KP Appliance, but the way the guy handled the call you can bet we'll never use their services and the and quot;recommendationand quot; we give probably isn't the one they want spread around!
Description of Work: No services were performed due to lack of customer service in the initial phone call. See full story below.

Horrible- still trying to get some satisfaction!
Description of Work: I purchased 2 refrigerators - the 1st one made a HIGH pitched noise- they agreed to trade it for another one, but I had to pay $300 more $$ The 2nd one makes Obnoxious KNOCKING noises every time the motor starts- @ every hour. I complained immediately. Long story short the 2nd frig was delivered in Sept- finally in Feb he came with a part, but adjusted something in the freezer. It stopped making noise briefly. I asked for a workorder wondering what was fixed. No reply. I wrote a letter stating I believed this frig to be a lemon. No reply. He treated me with disrespect doubting the noise complaint, not bothering to take the time to actually have the motor kick in to hear it. Stomping out of my home saying he didn't have to be treated like "this" when I said his service was horrible. Oh and the 2nd frig was crooked- he came and put a wooden shim under the back- I have a brand new home and when I put a level on the floor KNOW it is not my floor. This is a bad situation, with zero service. No respect for the customer. They are both GE Refrigerators & I will NEVER buy another. GE is going to get the next call- & bad report. I am VERY FRUSTRATED & their new ad in the newspaper stated they give great service after the sale! WHAT A JOKE!
