It went awful. DJ never showed up… BOTH times… On February 5th him and I decided to settle on February 16th at 2 P.M. for him to come out to fix my plumbing. On February 16th, at 12:20 P.M., he decides to text saying he couldn’t come I’m assuming because there was some snow but he didn’t tell me why. Him and I texted back and forth and settled for him to come out February 22nd at 2 P.M. He texted me at 12:45 P.M. saying he was done driving for the day… that he would have to reschedule again… So he cancelled TWO TIMES on me within two weeks and he thinks that everything can just be on his time and when he feels like doing it I don’t feel like a valued customer He cancelled on me TWICE and I’m not going to be fooled a third time… I’ll give someone a second chance but not three times especially when I’m spending my hard earned money on something to get fixed… I’ll NEVER call this plumber again… NEVER. PLEASE DON’T HIRE HIM
Description of Work: New piping pieces to be installed in my basement so the upstairs drain in the shower could drain better and faster

A little background, [Member Name Removed] contacted for a problem at his kitchen sink on Jan 9th. After some texting an appt was made for next day in the afternoon. I inspected his kitchen sink no leaking at the time but there were some plumbing issues in the house. [Member Name Removed] told me he just bought this house not too long ago and I told him the new plumbing was not installed by a plumber. I pointed out that his shower drain was piped wrong and a couple of other things. [Member Name Removed] contacts me to look at his shower drain after texting back and forth we agree to Thursday Feb 16th afternoon. The day of Feb 16th is a winter storm, school is canceled. I texted him on the 16th at 1221pm telling I’m gonna reschedule. I don’t hear from him until Sunday Feb 19th at 630 pm. I respond on Monday at 615pm. Wednesday comes and another winter storm arrives schools are cancelled and Ice forming on the roads. I text him 1249pm to tell him Im done driving for the day. He texts me back at 622pm . I didn’t respond he texts me back on Thursday and I respond to him. I told him I could do the following Tuesday because I couldn’t do Friday because I was picking up family at airport. He texted back saying I don’t value a customer because I blew him off twice and I didn’t respond in a timely fashion and that I wont even try to come out this week. I told him I was sorry and that I canceled because of winter storms. He said all I had to show was excuses. I said I learned I can’t always please every customer and good luck with his repair. I ve been rear ended in my work vehicle before and I lost my truck for a month which is very inconvenient because my truck is my mobile office. So in times of really bad weather I pull off the road for the day. And I know other contractors that do the same thing to save their vehicles.

Great, DJ has replaced some bad plumbing and a kitchen disposal unit as well as fixed a previous owners badly done DIY plumbing project that literally fell apart in the basement. He does great work at a reasonable price.

Never showed up
Description of Work: We called Kaelber about a leaking toilet on May 9,2017. The man said that someone would be here on May 10th at 10:00am. He never showed up. We called 3 times in the next 2 days and left messages, but, calls not returned. I would never recommend Kaelber Plumbing to anyone. My parent's used them for many years and the service was great. I guess that is a thing of the past. Very very disappointed in such bad customer service. I think they should be removed from Angies List. Any questions call Tom Gadwell at 262-764-2450.

I talked to [Member Name Removed] on Monday. Told me about a leaking toilet. I said it would be $125 to fix and I could fix it on Tuesday. He said no, just look at it. I told him that it would be then $150 to look at toilet and then come back another day to fix. He was fine with that. I got sick with the flu and never got out of bed, until Thursday and that's when I returned his call and explained I was sick and apologized. I'm a one man shop, and sometimes I can't help being sick.

Perfect! The hook up works great. He kept to the price quote he gave, which was competitive, did the work in less time than originally expected. You can't ask for much better than that. We were pleased to be able to hire someone from our community that did a great job.

He was able to look at the problem within a day of me contacting him. He showed up on time and fixed both problems within a half hour. Once main water was turned on, he discovered the shower faucet would not turn off. He was able to fix that problem quickly, even offering to work on Sunday. He's a fair plumber and I would hire him again.
Description of Work: Leak at the main water shut off valve and pipe running into water heater. It's a vacant home I'm preparing to sell.

Before DJ did his magic it was a terrible mess of PVC pipes check valves and leaking couplings. Bumping and banging every time the pump shut off. His work is solid and dependable. I'm getting his estimate for kitchen work to be done next. I would highly recommend him for any plumbing needs you have.

The estimate was not provided on the scheduled appointment day. The contractor did not appear as expected.
Description of Work: Today the plumber was supposed to come and provide an estimate for work in a bathroom and also to fix a leaky pipe. I received an email stating that the appointment had been forgotten and would I like another appointment. The reason I have the plumbing problem to begin with is that the previous contractor didn't finish the job. They disappeared and did not respond to various attempts to communicate with them. What is it about contractors that most are so unreliable to the point that an "Angie's List" is needed? Wish I knew.

I responded to homeowners request for a appt. I never heard back. When I found her request back in my junk mail at 3am on the day of the appt. I emailed asap and told her that I just found her email in my junk mail and I had already booked the day for work. I told her I could come on friday at 8 am. She declined to take that appt.

I've used him for several years, and have been very happy. The family have been in the plumbing business for years, and so he has a lot of experience and knowledge. He's a local guy, and is fast, fairly priced, and fast!

DJ made two trips. One was to do some prep work- relocate some water/waste lines and install the shower base. Once I was done with the walls/floors/cabinets, he returned to finish installing the shower fixture, toilet and faucet. DJ was easy to wok with and I think reasonably priced.

Description of Work: Very professional. We had a whole house water filter installed in basement and an older shut off replaced. Very informative estimate. He was not the lowest estimate but I liked his explanation of job and frankness. In the distant past I did some minor plumbing projects so this job's needs were not foreign ideas to me. The only snag was that a few days before original scheduled appointment he called and asked if he could reschedule. To be clear - he asked. He did not just cancel. He apologized and said he would take $50.00 off estimate for our inconvenience of moving job date. We agreed. He came out a few days later and did a great job. Everything works great and job area left clean. We highly recommend DJ Kaebler Plumbing and would not hesitate to use again!

Plumber completed installation of 50 gallon water heater quickly, neatly and satisfactorily. There was no mess or delays. DJ Kaelber requested model number of old water heater and pictures of top, middle and bottom of the heater so that he knew what fittings to bring to installation. Copper joints are clean and connections made with adequate amount of thread sealant. Nice job completed quickly.
Description of Work: Contacted plumber on Sunday at 10:15 AM when I discovered water gushing out the bottom of my 21 year AO Smith water heater. Told me how to turn off and drain the heater. He suggested replacement options. The next day, DJ Kaelber found the replacement heater in stock at supply house, had it delivered and installed by early afternoon.
