The A-Team

I called the A Team, left a message. I got a call back at the end of the day. We discussed what I wanted done. He said he would come on Monday to take a look at what needed to be done.. I was home all day that Monday. He never came, he never called. I called that day and left a message and called the next day and left two messages. Have never heard from him again. I had heard other people had a hard time getting them to work for them. Now I know It's true.

We phoned the plumber to tell him about a serious leak we had with our basement sink leading into the main sewer pipe. He was very receptive to our problem and told us he’d have someone there the next day if that was acceptable to us. Since it wasn’t an immediate emergency, a time was set and we were told the plumber would phone us if there was any change to the appointment. We understood that things do happen unexpectedly in this line of work and that the time couldn’t be set in stone. The following day we did receive a call from the actual serviceman (unfortunately I don't remember his name), stating that he would be a little later than he had anticipated due to the length of time his previous plumbing job was taking, but that he’d be at our home within the hour. He was true to his word and arrived within the specified time. Once he arrived, we showed him the leak and answered his questions concerning when it seemed to leak the most; what was going on during that time (such as doing laundry, filling the sink, etc.). It took him just a short time to assess the problem, retrieve his tools, and get to work. We were surprised at his young age and mentioned that to him, but he explained he’d grown up in the plumbing business since his family had begun the company generations before. Consequently, he was a much more experienced plumber than his age would seem to indicate. His demeanor was very friendly and congenial, but unlike so many other servicemen, he actually continued to work while we talked! During that time, he explained what he was doing with the leak and why it was necessary, and also told us a little about his background to reassure us about the company and how it had become established. It may seem silly, but in speaking with him, I am extremely pleased to report he was very respectful, polite, and never used any foul language, not even once. He took no breaks, and didn’t waste time. The leak took about an hour to fix, and he tested it to make certain the job had been done properly. He told us to be sure to contact them again if we discovered any additional problems after he left so he could come back to readdress the issue. We were very impressed with his thoroughness. He even cleaned up the water mess which had been made on the floor, and then checked his work boots to make certain he wouldn’t track any muddy water through the house when he left. He completed the work order including parts he used, and itemized the cost so it was clear to us. He stated we'd receive a bill in the mail in a week or two, but we preferred to make payment to him at that time. He pleasantly accepted it and immediately wrote out a receipt with his signature and marked the bill PAID IN FULL. At the time, we felt the price was a bit high. However, as we looked back we realized “you get what you pay for”. Rather than having to pay twice for a lazy serviceman who didn’t do the job correctly in the first place, the convenience and excellent service was well worth it. All in all, it was a very comfortable experience. We’ll most definitely be calling this plumber again should we have any water issues in the future!

Plumber was on time, had all tools with him was very neat and worked speedy.
