Legacy Custom Remodeling built a beautiful custom home. Josh and his team were very attentive, easy to get a hold of, organized, timely, and they had a keen eye for detail. Throughout the entire process they were cognoscente of my budget and found creative solutions to give me the look I was after all while remaining within my budget. Legacy Custom Remodeling has great connections to qualified and skilled contractors that live up to their expectations and quality of work. Josh and his employees meticulously monitored the work done by contracted companies to ensure that the job was carried out in a timely manner while upholding their commitment to great craftsmanship. Their sister company, Wisconsin Cabinetry made all the custom cabinets and vanities in the home. I must have given them 100 different images of the style, wood, and color. They clearly have talented and artistic staff because the end product was more than I could have imagined...they totally nailed it (pun intended). Legacy Custom Remodeling and Wisconsin Cabinetry were very patient through the design and decision making process, which made the whole project stress free and fun. Although they have remodeling in the name, they sure can build beautiful new homes!

Legacy is great. We would recommend Josh and his team very highly. His carpenters have great attention to detail, and they all really cared about meeting our high expectations. The cabinetry is also amazing: less expensive and much better quality than we saw in any of the showrooms we visited, plus we didn't have to compromise on the look because they can make pretty much any door style you could want. To top it all off, legacy's great price also included roll out shelves on ask the lower cabinets. Cabinets like these would have cost us more than twice as much from the showroom (we checked). One thing I would mention, however, is that the kitchen designer they use is not very good. I had to re-work her design several times, and she wasn't very good at understanding my corrections. So yes, I would definitely recommend them to anyone, but you may want to have someone else help you with the design if you don't have a good idea of exactly what you want the layout to be.

Josh, Tim, and Joe were most excellent custom remodelers. Josh came to our house the very first day we called him and the job was completed well before our deadline. John also listened to our needs and was able to work with us on the design and implementation of the work We were very satisfied.

My husband and I were looking to expand our home's usable living space as our kids are fast turning into teenagers. We wanted more than a bland yet finished basement--we wanted to make it look great, and to use every possible inch of space. Legacy Custom helped us do just that, and more. Josh Wanta of Legacy Custom guided us to develop a plan that met all of our needs, most of our wants, and within our budget. He invested time and boundless energy to design the spaces we wanted. From a beautiful fifth bedroom to full bath with walk-in shower to custom bar to big screen theater to a finished utility room--we got it all. The difference maker was Legacy Custom's willingness and talent to customize anything. My favorite features are the built in book shelves, wrapping paper drawers and an amazingly functional roll out drawer storage unit--all custom designed and under the same set of stairs. The custom bar and cabinets made of beautiful dark walnut custom cabinets make it a relaxing environment that we can entertain or just chill out with friends and family. It frames the big screen my husband always wanted, and that I enjoy more than I'll ever admit. Legacy Custom tailored all of the custom cabinets to work perfectly with our theater screen and entertainment equipment; the subcontractors actually enjoyed our job, appreciated the advance planning and looked forward to coming on site. There was significant rework to move plumbing, furnace and electrical before we could start the project. So many decisions that we didn't have the time or skill to take on--it had kept us from starting the project for seven years. Legacy Custom had the industry knowledge and managed the subcontractors to get it done right, the first time. I enjoyed not having to make those detailed decisions or scheduling all the contractors. In the end, we had only one minor call-back for the electrical inspector--we passed with flying colors. Josh also presented us with tough decisions that we didn't realize had to be made. We chose to extend water and gas to the garage while the basement ceiling was still unfinished, as well as running home audio to the garage and first and second floors. Those would have been expensive, or very limiting, misses, later. Our whole family now races to the basement to let the fun times begin, every day! We're already the "cool house" where our kid's friends want to come visit. It was worth every penny, and we're looking around the rest of the house to see what else Legacy Custom can do for us. We recommend Legacy Custom to anyone who wants to get it done right.

Although not an interior designer, he has good design sense and added to our vision, providing new insight and ideas that we hadn?t thought of. We found Josh has an ability to foresee problems and offer creative solutions. For example, we replaced carpeting with wooded floors, which posed a problem with two wooden railings that separate the living space from stairs leading to the lower level. The railing had a bullnose edge along its base, but needed a flat edge for the wooden floor to abut against. Prior to selecting Legacy we got three project quotes. One contractor?s solution was to remove the railing and trim the bullnose? this was a two day project. Another contractor said we had to rebuild the entire staircase? a seven day project. Josh?s solution was to use a special saw and carefully trim the bullnose. It took a steady hand and was a tedious job, but he completed it in about an hour? it looks perfect and save a lot of time and money. His planning is very good. He laid-out a timetable that was both realistic and fit into our schedule. His crew always arrived on time and ready to work, it was clear they knew what they were to accomplish each day prior to arriving at our job site. They were friendly, but business like in the way they did their work. There is no quiet way to tear down walls, but they understood we have a home office and they accomplished the job as quietly and quickly as possible? a little ahead of schedule. The Legacy Custom Remodeling crew is respectful. We spent a lot of time working from our office and could hear just about every that was said. There was no swearing, complaining or inappropriate conversations. We walked by the construction throughout the day and noticed they worked on our home as if it were their own. They were careful, neat and concerned about the details of the finished job. At the end of work they did a very good job of cleaning-up, which made it easier for us to move around the space and keep the rest of the house clean. If they needed to put in a little more time to stay on schedule, they did it with a great attitude. Josh made sure the sub-contractors understood their role in the project and set clear expectations for their work and schedule. When we had questions about a sub?s work, he took responsibility to get the answers and if need be the resolution. He was respectful of our budget and set reasonable amounts for our allowances, which kept us in budget and reduced change orders. In addition to remodeling the inside we also updated doors and windows, siding, gutters and garage doors. For these he provided options for each from various suppliers. We always felt he was working in our best interests, not beholding to a supplier or pushing a particular solution. If our selection was going to put us over budget, he would let us know and he left us to decide what to do. He backs-up his work. There have been a couple of items that needed to be addressed since the work completed and he stepped up to the plate and took responsibility. For example, last winter (2012) snow melted off the roof, creating ice-dams in the gutters, so it was a priority that we get that fixed. Following the first snow, and while the temperatures were in single-digits, I noticed ice sickles forming on the new gutters. I called Josh and we discussed how to resolve the issue. He took charge, contacting the insulating company and roofing company to see what more we could do. NOTE to Angie's List Editor- this is Legacy Custom Remodeling. There are other companies in our area that we talked w/ that also have 'Legacy' as part of their name... we did not work with those other companies. We do not wish to share the value of the remodeling.

What I was really looking for was a re-design of the layout of the kitchen, not just replacing the cabinets and appliances with newer ones. But that was beyond the capabilities of this person. He responded quickly to my purchase, by e-mailing me to set up a time to meet. We were able to set up a time, and he was punctual for the appointment. He took a look and took measurements, and told me that he wouldn't know how to actually change the floor plan of the kitchen (taking out walls and such), as I was interested in. Within a reasonable amount of time, he e-mailed me a CAD drawing of the kitchen, with the measurements. So, I was disappointed. But if I had been in the market for just a kitchen face lift, he seemed like a good guy to do it.

Josh and his crew at Legacy Custom Remodeling brought Exceptional to another level! Obvious was the notable craftsmanship and the strong attention to details that clearly shown through in the quality of work - Even more impressionable were the intangibles such as the genuine care Josh took in our project, the prompt return phone calls, the constant project updates, his courteousness, and even plowing our driveway. And for Josh's crew they were very professional and did outstanding work! Legacy Custom Remodeling truly stands out!

I was very satisfied with Legacy Custom Remodeling LLC. Josh was very nice. He came out and looked at it and the price was extremely reasonable. He was very prompt in coming out, but not good at contacting me. The only thing was that because mine is quite a small job, and he was involved elsewhere on quite a large one, it took quite a while for him to get around to doing it. He replaced a pair of cabinet doors above the stove that grease had penetrated. He sanded the doors for three nights and couldn't get through the grease, so he had a sub-contractor make two doors and then he finished them. He was only going to charge me $75! I said that's not right: you've had to make two trips here, you had to pay the guy to make these doors, you've gone through all this, I have to give you something more. So I paid him $100 and I still think the work was worth more. He didn't provide me with an estimate, he just said Oh, it won't be very much. I don't think that was very professional. He was very hard-working, very reasonable, very nice.

We had an existing banister in our home which was built with wide spacing between the spindles -- not kid friendly. Legacy (Josh) did an excellent job matching the existing spindles (which had to be custom-made, as they were not a standard size or length). You can't even tell the difference between the old and new spindles, the stain and style matches so well. The estimate was exactly as quoted, the workmanship was excellent, and everything was cleaned up nicely. They were also very accommodating of my schedule which I greatly appreciated.

Prior to the beginning of the project, Josh had many helpful suggestions to hold down costs, but deliver a kitchen much improved in durability and looks. His sources for flooring, cabinets, countertops and paint were local and reputable. The cabinets are a beautiful oak replacement, made by an Amish craftsman north of Madison. Josh choreographed his staff of wrecking crew, electrician, flooring expert, painter and installation staff so that no time was lost. The job would have been completed on time, but for scheduling issues with countertop production. All staff were great and happy to explain what was happening and why (I have a fairly convoluted and outdated electrical system?my next project). The project finished (except as noted above) on time and within budget. Josh was thorough in explaining options (LED lighting under my cabinets and commercial grade wood laminate) that would increase costs somewhat and was careful to make sure I knew what I was getting and how that would impact total project costs. I selected this remodeler based on the experiences of my next door neighbor who had used him first and heartily recommended him. I would absolutely second this recommendation.

From our initial meeting with Josh throughout our project the service, professionalism, craftsmanship and timeliness were EXCEPTIONAL. Not only is Josh a dream to work with, his crew is equally as professional and talented. There was no detail to small for them to notice, point out and address immediately after asking for our preferences. The way in which they conducted business, handled our home contents and personal items and ensured our home was always safely secured was really beyond our expectations. Josh even plowed 19'' snow from our long driveway! The finished remodeling is beautiful and exceeded our expectations. We are already planning to have Legacy back to do our lower level family room. I really can't emphasize strongly enough how satisfied we are with not only our project, but the fact that it was completed in record time (on time) by Josh and his highly skilled crew . To summarize, Legacy is beyond awesome and not only would we hire them again, we will be hiring them again.

Josh is the general contractor and the primary point of contact for our entire experience. He was very courteous and very responsive to all our requests (he even went at lengths to fix a paint color issue, which turned out to be a shadow and lighting problem). His pricing and quoting was very fair and honest and upfront. We received several offers from other contractors and Josh was in the middle of the road from a pricing perspective, but we did feel the most comfortable working with him. The only minor downside was that Josh is busy with alot of projects, which we understand with the good contractors, so our timeline for completion was pulled out by a couple weeks longer than what we would have liked. However, the end product was definitely custom build and handcrafted with quality wood products.

I've hired a lot of contractors. Whet I have never hired, however, is a contractor as freaking phenomenal as Josh. ...and when I say, "freaking phenomenal," I'm grossly understating how happy I am with his work, professionalism, honesty, etc. Usually, contractors find all kinds of things that they didn't see when they bid the job, and those things always cause the price to rise. That was not the case with Josh. What's more, the cabinets that he was working on did not come apart as easy as he thought they would. But, he never raised the price one cent. The amount he charged me on my invoice was TO THE PENNY what he said it would be. You just don't find that in contractors today. He and his crew were extremely respectful of our business and our customers, and really went out of their way to work around our schedule and our customers. His crew was clean-cut, well-spoken, polite and was a pleasure to have on the premises. The quality of work Josh and his crew turned out was nothing short of spectacular. As a matter of fact, I believe that the furniture looked BETTER after he was done retro-fitting it than how it came from the factory. I would never hesitate to use Josh in the future, and highly recommend him.

We are very happy with the results. If we were unsatisfied then he would fix it for us. He had great design ideas. He does a variety of projects from laying a hardwood floor to creating a custom tile shower to remodeling a kitchen. He is a very easy person to work with. He responds quickly to emails and phone calls and completed the project in a reasonable amount of time.

We have been absolutely pleased with their work. Their quality of work was excellent. My interaction with the person who was doing the primary work was good. He was very understanding and very appropriate in his work.

Josh is a great guy and is highly regarded among his peers. He was willing to fit the work onto our schedule and always finished what he said he would get done and left the area clean. It was great to come in and have the work done perfectly! We spread the project out over a few weeks and he had no issues with the schedule. Josh clearly has been doing this for a while and has a vast number of subs who meet his work ethic that he can pull into the job if needed. He will work with your materials or will look for the best option. For example, we bought, primed and painted all our trim before he cut it in and that was no problem. He is versatile, reliable and skilled...definitely recommended.

I've never had a complaint when referring Josh to any of my Clients and would recommend him to anyone looking for high quality work for a fair price done with honesty & integrity.
