I left a voice mail for Todd. He returned my call within a few hours and came to my home soon after. He thoroughly explained what had caused the two problems and did the minor repairs. The contact information that is on Angie's List is no longer correct. The name of the company is Todd Wangerin Electric, and his phone number is 262 719 4411.
Description of Work: Outlet for my laundry equipment wasn't working. One hall light was always burning out.

The electrician and a young apprentice came promptly on the day of service. All of the tasks were performed except that the electrician said he could not do much with the packed outlet (packed with old wires running upstairs to the point that the outlet couldn't even fit correctly in the box) without removing wires running to the ceiling and upstairs. He didn't have the right tester to trace the old wires for the plastered over ceiling light, so we told him we'd deal with that some other day. They took what I would consider to be a normal amount of time for such a job, and I gave a brief look at what they had done before they left. When I looked closer, however, I noticed that the kitchen outlets they put in were not flush with the walls, and they were crooked. I needed to paint one of the walls, so I took apart one of the outlets myself. It wasn't properly grounded because both screws had been broken off while trying to attach it, it was crooked, the box was adjusted out too far, someone (the apprentice) had used a hammer and a screwdriver to try and pound the outlet in, leaving a big hole in it, and the wall around the outlet was scratched up. The wires were never properly connected in the other outlet, so when I loosened the screws, the outlet just fell out into my hands. It was also crooked. I called the electrician, and he came right away the next morning to fix the errors. I told him I had already fixed them, but I wanted him to look again at the packed outlet, and said whatever he needed to do, he had my permission. He again said it would be a big job requiring removing entire wires, so I said forget it. I later opened the outlet myself to see what I could do, since the outlet cover was sticking 1/4" out from the wall. All the electrician had done was stick a few shims in above the outlet box to tighten it. Disgusted, I decided I could probably research it and do it myself. I went went to the hardware store, talked to an assistant, bought the necessary equipment, and finished the job myself in less than an hour. The outlet for the range hood looked like it was done well, and the 220V line from the basement to the range looked expertly done. I believe that the problems were mostly related to the apprentice. I do, however, blame the electrician for not looking over the apprentice's work. I also think there was a lack of effort in looking to solve the packed outlet problem and ceiling light. There is no reason, when you pay $95/hour, that you should have to go back and do work yourself.
Description of Work: Our 220V range outlet needed to be moved to an outside wall, an outlet needed to be put in for our new range hood, a new outlet needed to be put in the kitchen, two light switches needed to be put in the living room, a packed outlet box needed to be updated for safety, and we wanted them to investigate hooking up a ceiling light that had been removed and plastered over.

I think they are excellent. They did it very quickly and efficiently. The charge was less than we expected for what it was. Their responsiveness was very good.

Arrived on time. Removed 2 fixtures then called me to tell me that they were both IC rated and they believed all the others were also. I called my insulator to verify that we had the he needed. Then they replaced the lights and cleaned up.
