TILE TIM Contracting

Incredibly prompt with excellent follow-up. Tim was helpful in recommending alternative designs and talking through the process. He was on time, on budget, and the results are wonderful. I would use him again - and that is the highest recommendation that I give.

I met with Tim for over an hour on 10/26 and he offered a number of ideas (after repeatedly telling me how shoddy wisconsin contractors are and how outdated all wisconsinites are in their tastes as he knows he is from california) He came back on 11/3 and I spend another hour plus with him as he did his measurements. I was promised an estimate by 11/8. I followed on 11/20 and asked status - he responded with "I haven't had time to finish it. Try to finish this weekend" No response. I followed again and on 11/24 received "I'll be able to get proposal out in the next couple of days Thanks for you patience" To date nothing. Bottom line there are a lot of contractors and I don't know if this guy is good or bad but I wasted 2 plus hours of my time and he wasn't able to delver a proposal on what I would consider a decent sized job. I wish I would have read the reviews before calling him as I am not the first he has done this to. I would be very cautious engaging any contractor who is unable to deliver a timely proposal. If they can't do this, how possibly can they deliver a professional timely project ?

If you want a job done right/correctly the first time, call Tim. He listened to me and provided necessary guidance in areas where I had no expertise. His proposal/quote was accurate and very fair. His scheduling was spot on and efficient. And he will put in the extra effort to maintain the schedule and cost. When it comes to the selection and installation of stone and/or tile Tim is second to none! I was amazed at the level of detail and construction materials used for the shower. The shower pan is perfectly angled for proper drainage without leaving you feel like you are standing in a bowl. Shower wall stone courses are flat, level and grouted/caulked perfectly. His "artistic" technique used to select the layout of the stones and corner construction is worth every penny. The sub-contractors that were involved were courteous skilled professionals. Their work was completed exactly to Tim?s high standard. ---Like I said at the start, if you want the job done right/correctly the first time, call Tim ! ---

Great Job! Tim was always here on time, worked late, job was completed within time quoted. The floors look great. We would deffinately hire Tim again for any future jobs.

We had to have some tiles installed for us around the whirlpool tub that had to be repaired. He did an excellent/superb job. You can't even tell it was repaired. He does not normally do work like this. The house was brand new - BRAND NEW. And the builder had gone under. He was recommended to us through family and he is THE BEST!. Wish he would have done ALL our tile in our house.

He was fantastic actually. He was meticulous in his work. He communicated well and got the job done quickly.

I already knew that I wanted porcelain tile for its durability and a classic pattern. Tim suggested layouts that would complement the space. He called to confirm dates and arrived on schedule. He was careful to clean up after himself each day - something many contractors do not do.

I didn’t quite like his attitude; he didn’t want to write an estimate. He seemed to be saying that he does high end work. He wanted to make a big project out of my piecework tile job. I think he only takes big jobs.

Tim did a meticulous job installing our limestone back splash. Besides having an artistic eye, he proved to be a true "master of his trade". He answered our questions with patience and understanding, keeping in mind the results we wanted to achieve. He was here on time every day. Tim is a perfectionist in every aspect and takes pride in his finished product/design. We are extremely satisfied.

When I first tried to contact Tim I used his website. It wasn't working properly and he never got back to me. I then sent an email to him and he responded right away. He came out and spent over an hour looking at what I wanted to do and making suggestions. I got a price quote from him within a week or two and we agreed on a price. He had a drywall contractor that he worked with repair and finish the drywall in the room, he had us pick out the tile and order it. I did my own plumbing and electrical and it all worked out to a TEE. His work is very good looking and we are very pleased with it. Tim does extremely good work and I would recommend him to anyone.

Tim showed up when he said he would. He is a very neat, organized worker. He is very easy to deal with, a very likable person. He is a very hard worker, stays with the job and makes sure that you are happy with how he plans to lay out the tile.

Having recently put in a new granite countertop in the kitchen we decided a tile backsplash was needed to complete the look. Considered doing it ourselves even though we have no experience. Had great difficulty coming up with a decent design due to location of multiple electrical outlets, etc. So we had 3 or 4 tile people come in to give ideas and estimates. While I believe that all of them were well qualified, it became evident that Tile Tim was who we needed. He was the only one who brought along a portfolio showing his work and different ideas. He spent considerable time talking with us on more than one occasion, exploring different design options and helping us narrow down what would work. He encouraged us to take our time and look around because we would be living with this for a long time. What we particularly appreciated was always being able to reach Tim or have him get back to us promptly if we had questions/concerns. He was always punctual, arriving for appts. or the actual work precisely on time, respectful of our property and the quality of his work is excellent. While some of the other estimates we got were less we're glad we decided on Tim doing the work and would definitely hire him again.

Tim gave us an estimate for replacing the 45 year old materials in our condo. He was very professional and exceptionally knowledgeable. He said that since he is a tile man and we wanted to go with sheet vinyl that he would bring in contractors with whom he regularly works to do the various projects. One gentleman would remove the existing vanity and flooring and put down new luan and install the vanity, another would take care of the plumbing and one more would do the sheet vinyl. Everything was in place and his estimate was competitive. We simply decided to go with a different contractor. In talking with him it is clear that he is incredibly well-versed in contracting and I would definitely call him again before I get other work done in my home.

My 1927 home had a pre-existing toilet "only" in the basement. No walls, no nothing! I was slowly finding people to turn it into a full bathroom. When the inspector didn't like the framing, and wouldn't tell me why, I called Tile Tim. He came the day we called, listened closely as we explained the situation, and had an estimate within the week. He was able to supply us with great ideas and materials that fit our original vague description of a "Tuscany" bathroom This included a completely tiled shower, bathroom floor, and stone wall featuring a ceramic tiled painting reproduction. Tim's electrical services included bringing upgraded electrical to code, exhaust fan installation with venting through basement wall to outside, and outlets, lighting and switches for everything.. The carpenter reframed the bathroom to code and his services included a pocket door, cabinet and vanity installation as well as high quality door and window framing. The plumbers finished the shower, sink, and toilet plumbing with all areas meeting code. When things got uncomfortable with the inspector, Tim was sure to speak honestly with him and agree on a plan to make him happy. All work was of the highest quality, and the results exceeded our original expectations. An "extra" bathroom turned into a work of art. Tim allows you to save yourself some money by doing some work yourself. We did the painting of walls and ceiling and staining of woodwork. In closing Tim only accepts the highest standards and is sure to do things the "right" way the first time by only employing the best in their areas of expertise.

Poor follow through. If you are not going to answer your e-mails, do not list them as a way to contact you.

Tim is VERY good at what he does & a tremendous help with thinking through all the things that non-tile folks (you & me) never think about. He's anal in working through details...and anal is what you want in a tile guy as there are so many things to consider. He'll help you identify issues before they arise and work through the solutions. This is helpful as there are no surprises. Hire the guy..he's excellent & fairly priced.

I had attempted installing a 20 by 8 inch travertine tile myself in our main bathroom. I had purchased all of the material and prepped the subfloor. I decided I needed an expert and Tim was very knowledgeable and seemed to actually care about the end result. He did a fantastic job. I gave a B for price since it was expensive, but given the end result it was well worth it.

We were extremely pleased with our experience with Tim. He started the job on the day he originally told me he would be able to when we received our estimate. It took 1 day longer to complete than estimated, but only because we changed the design of the floor which complicated the job. He stayed on the job each day until he was finished with that day's work and was always very good about cleaning up the premises. The new floor looks fabulous, we couldn't be more pleased. We would absolutely use Tim again and would highly recommend him to anyone else needing his services. Great job!

He gave us an estimate and worked really hard to maintain the estimate. The work that he did was really well done. He was maybe over the top in terms of how picky he was about something. I didn?t like that he tried to cut corners to make sure that he came in on estimate. We ran into things that we haven?t anticipated. I told him that whatever it takes to work, make it work so that it looks good. He still tried to cut corners rather than just concentrate on doing quality job. It ended up that there were some things that we weren?t really happy with. The big problems were really with his subcontractors rather than with him. They had to redo some work. I had one problem with the person who did the drywall. It wasn?t finished ready to go. Once the drywall was done, we had sanding and prep work which we didn?t expect to do. The tile was perfect and we didn?t have any problems with that. I would probably use him in future if he weren't doing subcontractors.

They called me and told me they would be a little bit. What we wanted done he didn't think was a good idea.

Tim was great to work with! He stays until he finishes the job each day, his estimate was right on the money, and it was VERY competitive. He explained everything in great detail and asked questions to be sure he was doing things as we wanted along the way. We plan to use his services again when we do our next remodel.

Back in November, I contacted Tile Tim for an estimate. He came exactly on time, prepared, with a nice big binder of extensive pictures of previous jobs. Explained everything in great detail which I appreciated. As I attempted to select a stone, being new to the entire process, Tim even agreed to meet me at a local tile store one evening so I could show him some things I liked. He guided me away toward having the finished design look too busy with the addition of a listello (a kind of border piece), which I can now see was the right call. Even two months later when I finally made my mind up about the tile and contacted him, he was ready to go, and honored his original prices from the estimate 2 months previous. To my delight, because it was a relatively small job, Tile Time went to buy the tile for me, at a slight discount, THE SAME DAY I contacted him and was able to start work the very next day. Total work time was approx 12-15 hours including set up and clean up. There were no surprises, Tile Tim was ALWAYS on time, and maintained his professionalism with me at all times. He even climbed behind the stove to clean up some grout that had gotten on the hard wood floors! A really nice guy, and a great experience, thanks and happy to share this great news so others can use Tile Tim!

He was personally involved in the job and kept me informed through out. He went with me to the store to make sure I bought the right materials. He was a very personable guy and he cleaned up after himself well. I would recommend him to others.

I thought that they did a very good job. The estimate that they gave me was the one they stuck with. I have already reached out to them to have more work done.
