Work was done long time ago (approx 1990) but is still vividly remembered. Worked very sporadically. Did not finish work when said would. Did not return phone calls. Took far longer to do what he said he would do than he said it would. I furnished some cabinet handles which were to be credited to me; when my wife accidentally paid the full amount of the final bill without subtracting for the furnished handles ($300) he refused to return phone calls and never returned the overpayment. Quality of work was fair at best: the finish sanding of the oak woodwork left it feeling rough in spots (I do not believe he sealed the oak as is required before staining it) and the polyurethane finish applied to it was so thinly applied that it's hard to tell it has any finish at all in spots. Overall, very unsatisfactory performance

Phone call was responded to promptly and Mike came out the same day to give me an estimate. Upon arriving and giving me the estimate he suggested putting me in direct contact with his subcontractor who does Hardiplank to save me some money and waived his contractor fee. Very much appreciated. The job was scheduled and was finished within 3 days of initial contact. Would recommend this contractor highly!

The work was done efficiently and professionally. The manager was easy to contact when we had questions or concerns, and he dealt with those matters quickly. At the end of every workday the team left the area looking neat and organized.
Description of Work: They sealed a crack in an outside wall of our home, poured new cement steps in front of the house leading to the main entrance and applied new siding all around the house.

I chose them because I looked into them, saw some reviews and spoke with them. They were very professional. I was supposed to meet them about some vehicle issues and they actually came to help me out. It's just been really great experience with them. On the work that they have done so far; they cleaned up and tidied up their messes. I am still using them.

It went extremely well. We will use Michael's services in the future when we have any home repair/remodeling needs.
Description of Work: We first contacted Michael Jons to replace some damaged flooring, install baseboard and trim, and repair some miscellaneous items in our house. His work and responsiveness were so spectacular that we expanded the scope of that first round of work. When we saw the results from the first round, we were so pleased and impressed that we decided to implement a second round of work. Subsequently, we discovered a water leakage problem where our siding met our foundation, and again called Michael in to determine what needed to be done and to do the work. Each time Michael (and Zach, his son-in-law) went above and beyond to guarantee our satisfaction with their excellent work. I would (and have) recommend (recommended) Michael for any repair needs.

They never did the work! I just figured it's my own stupid fault again. Expensive lesson learnt! The price was fine. Every time I contacted them I did speak to someone but I always had to contact them. What I found was really interesting; with the other providers if I bought a big deal today and I didn't contact them say within a week they called me and said, "Hey, you signed up for a deal on Angie's list. Do you want to get scheduled?" I'm like, "Oh! My god. I completely forgot. Thank you." So other providers have called me back but no, they never did. I'm pretty sure I probably have the email I had originally sent the person. He seemed very nice on the phone. He was like, "Hey, I'm up on the roof right now." I said, "I'm going to send you an email with all my stuff." He is like, "Okay." Never heard back! After a while I just gave up. I mean, they were responsive whenever they picked up the phone. They were nice enough on the phone, they certainly were not rude. I never got that feeling. I just found it hard to keep calling back. I've certainly told people, "Don't ever use these guys."

I bought a big deal coupon for this general contractor. I gave the coupon to my mother who lives in another city. She contacted with the company a few times before the company came don to bid the work she needed done. The company took the coupon from my mom and never returned her calls. They never performed the work and I lost 1500.00 by buying this from angies list. I would like to be contacted at 414-331-5864 for reimbursement.

We apologize for any miscommunications. Recalling or records we did go and look at the customers job. Unfortunately due to high volume of coupons and previously scheduled work we still are in the process of completing both types of commitments. I bought a Big deal for Michael Jons and Associates. I had them come to the house and put some wood panels up in the back hallway. It took them couple hours longer to do the work. They had to carry all materials upstairs. They did a good job. When leaving they said that they would not charge me for the extra time and then a couple weeks later I got a bill in the mail. I wrote a note and sent it back without payment stating what they had said.

Athough Michael and Zack we very polite, we had an extreamly hard time getting them to come to our home. They are located in Illinois and we live in Oak Creek, WI. I don't know if that was part of the issue but we would call and leave messages and it would take a long time to hear back from them, only to find we couldn't get together. To be fair, I kind of forgot about them coming and stopped calling for several months. I remembered again in the new year (2013) but still we couldn't make it work until April. The coupon expired in Fall 2012 but Michael said he would honor it because of all the miscommunications. They arrived on April 24. They were late for the appointed time we had set but had called earlier in the morning to alert us of the change to their arrival time. All total, they were an hour late but we thought it was fine because we had the day off and didn't have any plans, other than them showing up to work on our 'little projects'. We were also fine with it because they had called to let us know they were on their way. Some of the projects was a 'C' rating and other things were a solid 'B' rating. They left each area messy after they left it to move on to the next project. They had to borrow our step ladder and 6 foot ladder, which was fine but then failed to put it back, or at least offer to put it back. They were not very professional. They didn't have an invoice or offer a business card. Their vehicle and work 'uniform' didn't have a logo or business name. Although they were nice, we wouldn't hire again due to their work quality.
Description of Work: Michael and Zack repaired several things in our home. They replaced the bathtub drain and the flushing mechanism in both of our toilets. They caulked both the bathroom tub and the shower stall where the floor meets the fixture. They reset the shower curtain rod so it is more secure in the wall. The aligned our back door so it stays closed and doesn't swing open at the slightest movement. They repaired the siding in two different places on the outside of our home.

The company came over for the estimate and did not seem happy with the fact that he was over whelmed with how many people responded to his offer of so much money for so many hours of service ( don't remember the exact offer)and informed me what a great offer i would have with the fact that I bought 5 of the offers and I again do not remember the offer and I felt that I was going to be taking money out of his pocket and therefore I let the offer go--I don't have to be made to feel like I was taking advantage of the company

Michael and crew spend two long days updating our downstairs bathroom. This included installing a new vanity, sink and toilet, cleaning and regrouting all tile, removing old shower door and painting. Did a great job with one minor glitch (the toilet came unseated and needed to be caulked due to the age of our house). They did a great job and my wife is tickled pink.

The cupola work involved some creativity and they did a nice job in addressing that. They were good about keeping in touch even though the work was part of a Big Deal and the contractor was somewhat overwhelmed by the amount of work to do. They billed me for the man hours in excess of the Big Deal amount. It seemed like quite a few extra hours, but I don't know. So, overall a good experience.
Description of Work: Hired through Big Deal. Work was for remodeling cupola on garage and installing new door from back yard to garage. The cupola involved removing and replacing rotting wood, reinforcing the structure, painting the base one color and painting the metal weather vane on top a different color.

Michael and his co-worker showed up for about 16 hours of work (two guys - 8 hours each) over 3 days. They removed part of the shower wall with mold, about 2 x 2.5 ft section around the bath faucets - easy enough - no tile, no shower surround - I'd already removed all of that!. However, when they rebuilt the wall, the wall was not flat/level. I could not tile that portion and had to have another contractor come out and fix their sloppy work. The section they replaced had to be ripped out and completely redone. They installed the range hood above the stove, however they failed to complete the electrical wiring and failed to vent the hood to the exterior. There was some venting to the exterior from an old fan; they just had to re-route the existing duct work to connect to the new hole they created for the range hood. This task was not completed. They bought and charged me for new ducting that was not needed - failed to provide me with receipts. They did remove the old bathroom fan, but didn't get around to installing the new one. Did manage to complete other small tasks like removing a toilet and bathroom sink. Not tough! I should have fired them after day 1! I should have insisted on receipts - or had them return the ducting they bought and didn't need/use. I'm not entirely sure how they managed to spend 16 hours without completing anything properly! I should have filed an earlier complaint to Angie's List - but sometimes you just gotta cut your losses and move on!! I hired this company through one of their and quot;dealsand quot; - offering 8 hours of licensed contractor work for only $300 - I bought 2 days for $600. This should have been my first red flag warning!! you get what you pay for!
Description of Work: Hired Michael Jons & Assoc to complete a variety of tasks including: install new range hood - vented to exterior; remove/repair part of bathroom wall to remove mold and prep for new tile; tile walls around shower stall; replace bathroom fan - vented to exterior; various other small/minor tasks. Company failed to complete any of these tasks during 16 hours of labor! A grade of "C" is probably being overly generous.

Asked them out to do an estimate on a number of remodeling projects in my home. They were a little bit late, but I didn't mind because they came after my working hours which I always appreciate. They seemed very knowledgeable and had some good ideas for my projects. A little sketchy about costs, but I figured that would come with the estimate...which never came. This surprised me considering they spent well over an hour and a half going over things I wanted done. Why would you invest this kind of time only to not submit an estimate to do the work so you can be hired? Would I then hire such a company? What kind of follow through can I expect if I paid them to start the job? This is not the last time I encountered this problem with an and quot;Aand quot; lister on Angies. I have seen people provide reviews for jobs costing as little as $75. My projects would have run well over $1000. Oh, well. And here comes the open indictment of Angie. I resent the fact that these contractors are allowed to respond and provide and quot;their sideand quot; of the story. This is not the BBB. This is a customer sponsored forum. There is no and quot;their sideand quot;. If the rest of the Angies' members want to dismiss my comments as the rantings of a disgruntled loony, so be it. They can disregard my comments and go ahead and hire the contractor based on the others' favorable reviews. If Angie wants to work behind the scenes to try to arbitrate differences between the contractor and the customer, all the better. This blog site is not the appropriate forum for this purpose. I have wanted to express my opinion to Angie about this, they called my home and were supposed to call me back, but surprise, never did. Why do I still belong, you might ask? Because I want to see the reviews like this, good to see who to stay away from if nothing else.

It was great to work with someone who wasn't out to nickle and dime me.
Description of Work: Strong winds damaged (at the time I thought so) one of our "crank out" windows. It looked to me that the wind unhinged the window and I tried to realign the window without any success by myself. I assumed it was broken. I called and Mike answered right away. After explaining my situation he came over within the hour to take a look at the "damage". It turned out that all I needed was a second set of hands to help get the window back in alignment. Mike also showed me some nylon parts on the window that should be replaced and gave me pointers on how to contact the window manufacturer. It turned out that the window parts were still under warranty after 8 years. Thanks to that information, he saved me money.
