Description of Work: I am thrilled with the great job Jon Oglesby of J. James Masonry did for me. He has my vote as Mason of the year and I highly recommend him to anyone! Let me provide a history ...My story begins in June, 2009 Originally I was in need of having my front porch of 60+ years replaced. It was a three steps w/flagstone. Three companies (not on Angies List) were called and one apprentice. The three companies said they would come out and provide an estimate,,, never happened. The apprentice called to say the job was more than his experience level but his boss would call ... never happened. Several pieces of sidewalk were replaced and I inquired of the crew leader of his ability to complete the job. I was assured he could do the job and he would get back with me with suggestions and quote by mid August. Sounded good to me. However, by September I had yet to hear from him. Enter Jon Oglesby ... my neighbor saw him doing another neighbors steps. The job looked good and the neighbors were pleased with Jon's work. I asked Jon to see my steps. He came over, gave me a ball park estimate and said he would send a quote/proposal to me. Four days later I had a formal proposal complete with quote which itemized what I thought I wanted done and included a few ideas of his own. Jon recommended I go to Darboy Brick Company (so glad I did, they too are fabulous) and checkout some bricks. Jon was very precise as to what I would need and Darboy Brick agreed with Jon's recommendations.. Darboy Brick was wonderful. They helped me with the brick and agreed with Jon. What I had wanted ran the risk of breaking down again(plus it was pricey) and why not choose an alternative. (The recommended plan was less than what I wanted) Yes, a contractor who offered a plan that would cost me less! To make this long story longer ... With the realized savings and a little more cash , I was able to have three entry ways completed! Alll three look wonderful and I am confident they will outlive the home!. Jon provided me with a time line of his work. I knew when he was coming, what he was going to do and why he did what he did. He said the job would take 5-7 work days weather depending. He showed up on each appointed day. He worked the time, he disposed of the old brick, used what remaining bricks he could and provided me with a completed and outstanding project within 5 days. His professionalism was second to none. He answered my questions, made recommendations and completed the job in fewer days. He followed up with me to be sure I was pleased with his work too! Please let everyone know of Jon and JJ Masonry! He comes from a family of experienced masons and it showed!. Jon made my search for an accomplished mason worth while. Hopefully, Angies List will make the search easier for the next person.
