 + 0 moreAndy was great. The wood screws holding the wood bed frame together broke off during the night. Andy bolted and glued the broken frame. This happened on the Friday of Labor Day weekend. Andy responded to us immediately and provided same day service - we did view this as an emergency given we wouldn't have been able to use the master bedroom bed. Any was prompt, professional and efficient. One of the best contractors we have dealt with - A+

He is very customer focused; he is a very good listener and is not afraid to make recommendations that will meet the homeowner's objectives at less cost, or to improve design esthetics of the home. He will re-do work if the homeowner is not completely satisfied (although this is so very rare) and works very hard to meet client deadlines. He is extremely knowledgeable about the quality, price and integrity of numerous home building/repair products and takes time to go with the customer to make product selections and explain the pros and cons of making a certain product selection. He manages to maintain an very clean work site on even the most dusty and messy projects. He is very polite, very friendly and just an all around nice guy. He and his crew even took the time to take my dogs out during the kitchen remodeling project when I had to work some very long hours. Anytime he has additional crew with him, he always takes the time to introduce the guys and they are always just as professional and friendly as Andy. His finished product has always exceeded our expectations. I just wish he would return my calls or text messages a little bit sooner....I have two additional projects that I need to have him work on that got bumped up on our "priority list" and I haven't been able to get in touch with him!! Overall, he is an A+!
Description of Work: The most recent project that Andy did for us was replace our roof (October 2013). Earlier this year (August 2013) Andy replaced our deck using the PVC decking materials. We have known Andy for many years now and would never consider using another contractor. Other projects he has done for us include: entire kitchen teardown and remodel, which included new cabinets, appliance installs, installation of tile flooring and backsplash, installation of custom bar, new sink, new plumbing, new doors and hardware, countertop installation, electrical and new lighting, painting and installation of duct for the hood, new drywall. Included also was a complete teardown and remodel of a small powder room which included installation of all new bathroom fixtures, new vanity, sink and plumbing, and installation of custom tile. He even remodeled our entry foyer with the left over tile. He also installed all new doors throughout the lower level of our house (which he stained himself). A few years later, we hired Andy for some additional remodeling which included installing hardwood floor in the lower level of the house, refinishing the hardwood stairs and hardwood flooring in the upper level of the house, carpet tear-out, replacement of all wood trim, all remaining doors in the house, all new door hardware, and painting. This project also involved leveling the floor in one of the rooms in our house. Andy has also been available for smaller projects, such as hanging large mirrors, installing a new garage door opener and other home repair assistance.

He had some great design suggestions for us, we trust him to be in our home when we are gone, and his workmanship is excellent. We were quite indecisive about some items and he was a great tie-breaker between my husband and I. :) He even made us a custom vanity to meet my very specific drawer size requirements. We highly recommend Andy and will definitely use his services over & over again as different projects arise.
Description of Work: We have used Andy for several handy-man type projects around our house and have always been pleased with his service, quality, professionalism, reliability, etc ...  + 0 moreI am building a new house and needed someone to come in and fit all of my kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Andy was prompt in calling me and setting up an appointment. I sent him the layout I wanted and he gave a reasonable quote based on the number of cabinets I had. He was very professional during the installation, making sure that everything is at the right height etc, even helping me modify the layout as we went on. The cabinets look great - ready for the countertops now:) He cleaned up after he had finished and Im very happy. I will definitely be using Andy again for my flooring installation etc.

Andy does excellent work and is very professional in the way he does business. I checked Angie's List for recomendations for service providers and selected Zahn's Home Repair. My appointment was set between 8:30 am & 9:00 am. He arrived right on time and ready to go. We talked about what was needed, agreed on a price (very fair in my mind), and Andy went to work. Shortly after starting, I realized Andy was already finished. I had forgotten to purchase the light bulbs, and he showed me how to replace the cover after I got them. I was equally impressed when I asked Andy if he would mind walking around the house and looking at a few other projects, and he quickly agreed. Andy listened to my concerns and needs and made me feel like a partner in the projects that needed to be tackled. He promised to get in touch with me soon on the other projects. You can tell he is focused on the quality of the job at hand, because he has a saying "One project at a time." I am very comfortable with the recommendations Andy made and look forward to working with him on other projects. I highly recommend Andy's service to others. I am a stay-at-home mom and I felt very comfortable allowing him in my home.

 + 0 moreExcellent experience. Once we noticed the damage - it was in a place that we rarely see - we checked Angie's list for recommendations for service providers. We selected Zahn's Home Repair and called Andy. We set up an appointment for Andy to come to the house between 9 and 10AM. We were quite impressed when Andy called at approximately 8:40 to let us know that he was finishing a job and would arrive closer to 10. He arrived before 10 to check out the job. We talked about what was needed, agreed on a price (very fair in my mind), and Andy went to work. Shortly after starting, Andy asked me to look at the work. He had taken pictures of the structural damage that had actually occurred to the board so that I wouldn't have to climb the ladder (I don't like heights). The board was actually rotten and holes had been filled with putty by the previous home owner. Andy gave me the option of continuing with quick repair, but recommended that he replace the board. We agreed that it would be best to replace the board and fix the problem rather than simply covering it up with putty and paint. We agreed on a new price (again I felt he gave me a fair price) and Andy completed the job. He painted the window frame and cleaned up the area. Andy does excellent work and is very professional in the way he does business. I will definitely be calling Andy again when I have work he might be interested in completing. I highly recommend Andy's service to others.
Description of Work: We noticed that the bottom glazing on a second story window was badly cracked and needed attention before winter. The wood needed to be repaired and painted.

 + -1 moreAndy is great! He could get us in his schedule within a week and a half. He was very personable, professional, and straightforward. He called this morning to tell me he was on his way, and arrived between 9:10-9:15 am. I showed him the adjustable ceiling storage units, we discussed the placement, and he got to work. I was in the garage with him and did assist with handing him his hammer, drill and pieces of each unit. I also had to move things around a bit so he could get into the spaces. As each unit went in, we discussed how low or high we wanted the unit to hang. It took approximately 2 hours to hang all three units. We were so happy with his work that we asked him to give us a quote on insulating the garage, and refinishing an interior door. His prices seem fair and I was comfortable with him and his workmanship. I would definitely use Andy again.
Description of Work: Andy installed three Suncast adjustable ceiling storage units in our open rafter garage, which took approximately 2 hours.

It took a couple of tries to find the rotting wood as it was raining the first time he inspected the roof. But through out the process of trying to identify what was causing the leak, he seemed interested in exploring the easiest and least invasive options first.
