We contacted Davey for several projects: Remove diseased spruce, replant tree line including a consultation on best species and design (27 trees total in the end), and lawn treatments (discussed below). For the trees, I worked with Adam, the district manager for my area and a certified arborist. He was wonderful to work with. We had multiple consultations before starting the job; he itemized tasks so we could pick and choose what we could afford to do. Ultimately, we did not use them for the tree removal because we found a better deal with a guy that was just getting started, BUT we are so pleased we went with them for the planting. Adam was incredibly knowledgeable about what species of trees to avoid (for deer and disease), how to arrange them on our property for best outcomes, and even weighed in a bit on design. I had gotten 3 quotes for planting and Davey was not only competitive, but I also sensed we would get the best advice and the job would be done right. There was one minor hiccup once the project got started - some of the trees were planted in the wrong spot, but Adam and his team (project lead was Steve) were incredibly responsive and professional about it and moved the trees to their correct location the very next week. This was a large project and not all the trees were available from the nursery at once, but Adam kept me informed along the way. Additional pluses - they had great selection of the species we were interested in and the trees are guaranteed for a full year. Regarding lawn treatment: This is our first year doing lawn treatments. For the first treatment (pre-emergent) I was expecting them to come by mid-late may, but they didn't show when I expected, so I called and they scheduled me for the next week (I think it ended up being first week of June). Same thing happened a month later with the first of the broad leaf treatments. They were responsive when I called, but I do wish I didn't have to call. We'll see how fall treatment goes. I will say grass does look great even after a couple treatments and the price is comparable to their competitors.

Nothing happened after the initial visit. No estimate given for the work requested. No follow up contact at all.

These guys go above and beyond. Dan and his team even rescued a kite out of our tree! Highly Recommend!

Dan Blazer the project manager did the initial quote and help to schedule the service. Dan did a great job of communicating what the job would entail. He was a pleasure to work with. Three men (Brian, Marshal and Roscoe) arrived to set up for the work to be done on the six trees. One of the trees required significant pruning so one person was dedicated to getting that done. Dan arrive a short time later to see how things were going and helped work on some to the trees. They all worked safely and efficiently in the amount of time Dan thought would be required. After the job was completed I walked around with Brian discussing the work that was done. From my observations the men did an excellent job of getting the necessary pruning done and cleaning all the debris.

No problems with service. It was a great experience.

Every person the company has sent to our home has been informative, personable, and professional. Our representative, Adam, listens to our concerns, informs us of our options, and recommends the most rational plan of action. Their crews work quickly and efficiently while taking great care not to damage surrounding plantings/property, and they clean up thoroughly when they are done. There's really not much more a homeowner could want from a contractor! Highly recommended.

Well I've been with Davey for over 20 years so I guess pretty good. They could be a little cheaper I guess but that's about it. The lawn is green what can I tell you.

It turned out very well. They are very quick and very responsive.

Trimming a 40' Honey Locust on a somewhat windy day, seemed a dangerous assignment to me. The Davey crew handled the work safely and efficiently, including cleanup. I'm not sure how to compliment someone who swings from ropes and pulleys high up in the branches of a tree, but Dan and Sam made the work look effortless. Their safety equipment appeared in excellent condition and they took no unnecessary chances moving through the branches. I highly recommend Davey Tree Expert Company and will use them again. Job well done Davey!

They arrived en masse: much equipment, many men to handle the job. Within 1 day, they did so much: removed several trees in spite of an unexpected white-out Wisconsin-style blizzard. The men worked hard and got everything done and cleaned up. Days later, they performed stump removal. We could not be more pleased with their level of hard work and professionalism.

We have used their routine lawn maintenance services and arborist services including tree removal, trimming and treatments for a sick large, old Blue Spruce, (which I am happy to say, seems to have survived!), and preventative treatments of a few species that were vulnerable to specific diseases/insects. We have a large, wooded yard, and I feel the arborists have been helpful and knowledgable, and I feel they have helped to save several large trees on our property. The selective pruning in our large wooded lot has opened up the canopy to provide enough light to grow turf, without sacrificing entire trees. Overall, we are very happy customers!

They did my lawn for two years and I had some minor problems with them and so I got a different company.

They can do better by making my lawn more impressive. They are persistent. Basically they've done what they have been asked to do.

They have done a great job. We're about to move so we have to stop using them. They have come out and they are really efficient. They do all kinds of extra stuff. I got the grass growing nicely and took care of the trees. You'll hardly know they are there. They are so quiet, really polite and friendly. You couldn't be more pleased with the service.

I would absolutely use them in the future.

They are expensive, that's what stands out. They are very professional and they are qualified to take care of the grass and the trees, and they are knowledgeable. They have different people that are specialized in some of the areas. It's not just one guy that is making up about everything. They are certainly diligent and professional, but they are what I pay for.

Start to finish was around four hours. Contractor cut everything down and ground the stumps to below ground level. We had them leave the chips so we could use them as ground cover. All branches and large trunk pieces were collected and removed. They removed a bush next to our back yard tree for no added expense.

I scheduled my quote in late May to make sure the work was performed in a timely manner because my neighbor was complaining about clearance issues. I specifically told Chuck about the neighbor situation. After obtaining additional quotes, I decided to hire Davey (New Berlin) so I signed the proposal and mailed it on June 17, 2013. Davey never acknowledged receiving my proposal so I called their office on June 27th. I was assured someone would return my call but no one did so I called their office again on July 3rd. Chuck returned my call on July 3rd and informed me that he would call me back on Friday, July 5th about scheduling. I hadn't received a call by late afternoon so I called the office and the receptionist told me that Chuck left a few days ago for a long holiday weekend. She assured me that I would receive a call early next week. I never received a call. At this point, I knew I didn't want to proceed with Davey and when I reached Chuck I requested an email to release me from my signed proposal. Chuck begrudgingly sent me an email IN ALL CAPS with an explanation mark which I felt was extremely unprofessional given my experience. Plus, I had my neighbor threatening that her son would prune the tree if I didn't hire someone myself.

Great so far. The rep was here today and spent a long time walkinf the yard with me and explaining what he was suggesting. He prepared a very detailed quote and even numbered them in order of importance for me. He quoted both lawn and tree service and the prices seem reasonable. The rep was very professional and courteous. I plan to execute and begin the services suggested.
