Description of Work: This report is long overdue, but our experience with this contractor has been bothering me for a long time. I am writing it now because we just finished paying a different contractor a lot of money to re-do the deck of our front porch. When we hired Ken, the owner of South Valley Remodeling, to replace the deck on our porch, we felt confident that we would have a great-looking porch floor for many years to come. Imagine our surprise and disappointment when, after only one year, the floor was buckling and looked awful. The product that we used was called Tendura, a new product that was supposed to last for a long, long time. Ken had done some research on the product and recommended it as the best way to go. Since Ken is the so-called professional, we expected him to stand behind the product and his reputation. Not so!! When we called Ken to come back and look at what had happened, he basically said that there was nothing he could do about it. It was just bad luck on our part, I guess. We would not have expected Ken to re-do the job for free, but he could have at least made us some kind of compromise -- maybe 50% off the cost of his labor or SOMETHING!!! In conclusion, I would NOT RECOMMEND this contractor. If anything goes wrong, you will have a big mess on your hands!!

replacement windows
 + -1 moreKen responded very promptly when asked to come to the house and prepare an estimate. He suggested ways to complete the job that he felt would be the most cost effective. Soon after, I received a phone call with an estimate which was followed by a written estimate. The cost he quoted was actually lower than I thought it would be. What a nice surprise. Ken was very upfront about his work schedule and quite precise as to when he would be able to start and finish the work. When he did get started on the job, he was always prompt, made special efforts to protect rug and furnishings in the house and always cleaned up after himself. Because I work during the day, he always made sure to call during the evening to find out if I was happy with the work done. I was. I am. Ken clearly takes pride in doing his job well, and to the customer's satisfaction.
Description of Work: Ken replaced four bedroom windows with energy efficient double hung windows, along with energy casement window and picture window in the living room. Additionally, he replaced rotting window trim and sills around all of the windows in question.
