+ -1 moreI called the company at around 2 pm to report my problem and to ask for assistance. Initially, I was told that someone would be out between 8 - 10 am the next day (Saturday) at no extra charge. Then several hours later, I received a call that Bill Blando, the owner, would be willing to come that evening. He came when he said he would. Bill quickly replaced both springs on the garage door, then handed us a bill that was extremely reasonable. In fact, it had been Bill who originally installed the door more than ten years ago. Despite the lengthy time between visits, he greeted my wife and me by name, and then we brought each other up to date on our families. To me, Bill and Connie Blando, are outstanding examples of honorable, hard-working, personable small business owners who make our community, and our country, great. I cannot recommend them or their company highly enough.

+ -1 moreCalled Blando on Saturday -2/17/10, mid afternoon, garage door did not open,- broken spring or cable. Said they could come next day, Sunday ( no charge for week-end day ). Could come between 11-1:00, I wanted different time, so could attend church, but this was only time available. ( I was still happy they were coming so soon ! ) Very late Sat. afternoon, they called back, and had rearranged times to come later afternoon, so we could go to church. This was very nice. They arrived between rescheduled time of 2:00-4:00, replaced spring, and also tighted chain on door opener and greased it too. They were excellant in repairs and customer service - if you need help with your garage door, this is the company to call.

Description of Work: Damaged overhead garage door track on Sunday night. Checked Angie's list for list of recommended providers and chose Blando Door. Called around 8:00 am on Monday and spoke to Connie explaining the problem. She said that she would send someone out between 9:00 am and noon. Repairman arrived around 9:40 and made the repairs in a professional and timely manner. I was so impressed with their service that I called Connie to express my thanks and she asked that I make my comments on Angies list. Would definitely use them again.

+ -1 moreThey first came out on Sunday Jan. 3rd to repair a broken spring on one of my garage doors. The door was so old that the repairman didn't have replacement parts to repair it. The other door would not close properly in the cold weather also because of age. I knew the doors could be safety hazards because of their age and the price to replace them was very reasonable, while the price to replace one spring was going to be almost $200. They came out the very next day and did a great job, removing the old doors and taking them away.

+ -1 moreThe company was a pleasure to work with, from the time I called to schedule the appointment through completion. My initial call was answered promptly, and after explaining our request Connie determined that based on our low-clearance garage it would be best for Bill Blando to come for the consultation. Also, they were willing to stop by in the evening so we didn't have to adjust our schedules at all. Bill arrived as scheduled and really impressed us with his knowledge of garage doors. We had three additional companies provide consulations before ultimately deciding that Blando was our best option, and by far he was the most confident and suggested the most straight-forward solution to our low-clearance situation. We were able to schedule the installation for Thanksgiving week, and everything went incredibly smoothly. The best part is that the garage door is fantastic and we're extremely happy with the final product! The price was within a few dollars of two of the other quotes, but the product and service that Blando provided made the decision to choose them an easy one. We highly recommend this company!

I also appreciated that the tech took the time to explain everything that he did to me and advised me how to lubricate the door in the future. Blando's service and communication was great and I will definitely use them for all of my future garage door needs.

+ -1 moreWe tried Blando after having been told by another company on Friday that they couldn't send anyone out that day. Blando had someone at our house within an hour of our call this morning. The workman (Russ) was friendly, explained what needed to be done and told us how much it would cost before beginning. We discussed the replacement of our old door and were given brochures, shown samples of door construction, and told that someone would call with an estimate later in the day. The door is now in good working order and at a price on the low side of what we had expected.
Description of Work: The workman (Russ) replaced a spring, put a cable back on its pulley, lubricated all moving parts and readjusted the garage door opener. In addition, he responded to requests for information about a new door and arranged for an estimate.

+ -1 moreLong and short . . . I had Blando Door come out the following Tuesday for a $59 “tuneup” to see what all was wrong. Two people came and they worked very efficiently; I learned most people at the company are “family.” I watched as they did what they do best. The battery in my keypad was just fine that day. But since it wouldn’t work during the winter, there had to be something wrong with the keypad. It was about 4 years old. I purchased a new one for only $25. Also the remote I was using had a crack in it; new one was $25. The 2 lights on either side of the garage door were somewhat out of line, which they adjusted. I watched as they adjusted some screws and lubricated and “tuned” all moving parts. They were here probably 15-20 minutes and then headed out for what they said was a full day’s work. The people were very congenial and were happy to answer the questions I had. The door now works SMOOTHLY for the first time in years. The only negative thing I can see is about me – I wish I hadn’t waited so long to have them come out. It would have saved me a lot of frustration over the last couple years.
Description of Work: I had been having a lot of problems with my garage door for the last couple years, and also had keypad problems which mainly started last fall. Garage door was “jerky” and especially in cooler weather the door would sometimes trip up the mechanism making it difficult to get the door to function properly. The colder the weather, the more potential for problems. When all else failed, I used to be able to get out of the car and use the keypad, but last fall that started acting up on occasion, too. I installed a new battery in the keypad and then it worked fine until really cold weather set in last winter. Then the keypad wouldn't’ work at all. This spring the keypad was working again and the door seemed happier, too . . . but finally on Friday, April 17, I decided I really was sick and tired of playing the “garage door game” and decided to take authority over the situation. I called Blando Door Company who I had used in the past, and had talked to Connie Blando a couple times recently in trying to figure out why the new battery in the keypad didn’t work out.

Then, they came out to replace my garage door. The work went smoothly on time, and the door looked and operated fine. Once they were done, they took away all the old stuff with them. Their price was very competitive, and I didn't have any problems with them. They were very quick in answering the phone or responding to voice mail.

Connie booked me for a time between 1 and 3 and the team called at 2:20 when they were on their way. Lynette and Bill arrived about 10 minutes later and quickly identified our problem and fixed within about 30 minutes. Lynette and Bill were an absolute pleasure and I would not hesitate to call them again. They also provided an estimate for a garage door replacement for our consideration.

+ -1 moreStart to finish, I had no problems. They delivered the new door and opener within the time frame that I was given when I placed the order with them. It was a very positive experience.
Description of Work: I called Blando in December 2008 because of an issue that I had with my garage door. It had frozen to the floor of my garage and when I tried breaking the seal of ice to open the door, it caused something to snap preventing the door from opening/closing. After I spoke with Connie in the office I decided that my best options were to replace what was a very old garage door and door opener. She had someone come out within one day to give me a written estimate for a new door and garage door opener. Because we were expecting a major snow storm on 12/19/08, she also had someone make some emergency repairs to the door, so that I could use the garage until my new door was installed. Because my garage door was an odd size, they needed to special order the door for me, which took as Connie had estimated, two weeks to come in. She called me as soon as the door came in and was able to remove the old door and opener, and install the new door and opener the next day. The garage door looks beautiful and operates so much better than the old one that I had. I am extremely pleased with the service and responsiveness from Connie and her crew and Blando Door Company.

+ -1 moreThey were very good. They came when they said they were going to and I got exactly what I wanted. It was done in an afternoon the way they said. They took everything away and it was all neat and clean. Everything was very satisfactory.
Description of Work: They completely replaced the door and the mechanism that automatically raises it. They put in a keypad so if you have a kid coming home from school they could get into the house through the garage. They also installed a laser beam that comes down and tells you when to stop the car so you don t hit the back wall. That was real nice.

I had not heard of them before but when I saw their excellent reports I had to call Blando. From my first call with them through the on-site estimate and installation each person I spoke with at Blando was pleasant and professional. Their quote was the lower of two estimates for our new 16x7 garage door with automatic opener and installation. The old door was taken away and the garage was clean after the install. I received instructions on the use of the door and tips on upkeep when the job was complete.
