Well, Walt was a very nice guy. He was there early and stayed later than promised. He provided a detailed report of his inspection via PDF the following day. A+ for customer service skills. I was a little bit disappointed though in what we received. Walt did not care to evaluate our attic at first, he needed to be coaxed to do it. He took a picture of it but that's about it. He did shortcut a lot, and in our basement he said we had a dry basement. Well, our basement leaks like a sieve now. Amazing how in 5 min I was able to Google and self diagnosis the hidden perils of our basement and a qualified home inspector misses them (or chose to avoid them just to make a sale for the realtor with whom he works). It was both fault of my own and Walt, but b/c I have no DIY experience or knowledge I relied on an "expert". I should have observed the waterproof sealer paint can on the basement wall shelf. The cost was $400 and I really feel my family and I got hosed by him. I would not recommend his services, please consider someone other than a "recommended" inspector.

As a Realtor I am always looking for the best providers in the area to refer my clients to. I have referred Walt and Beacon Home Inspection Services to many of my clients and he ALWAYS does an excellent job! Walt is extremely knowledgeable, thorough and explains each step to the buyer clearly and in terms they can understand. I would hire Walt to do my own inspection and highly recommend him to all my clients!

This inspector was chosen by our trusted realtor which was our mistake. Choose your own! Seller cover ups and knowledge of roof and foundation functionality were missed. For example, although the basement was inspected as "dry" at the time of the inspection, these walls had been painted. Obvious water stains and mold were present underneath, evident with the first heavy rains experienced in the house. This inspector also made no comments on "code" compliance of the various parts of the house. Of note, every contractor who has made estimates on the house has commented on the poor quality of the inspection, including contractors for the foundation, roof, basement and stairway.

I called Walt in the morning on a Thursday and he called me back shortly. I explained to him we needed to perform the inspection as soon as possible because of commitment to an offer on a home. He understood and schedule that Saturday in the morning. He arrived at least 15 minutes prior to the appointment and inspected the outside of the home by the time I arrived. The inside of the home inspection went smoothly as well. He was extremely thorough with his inspection and explained everything to me since it was my first home. Walt was exceptional and I would recommend him in a heartbeat. Very nice guy and even offered to answer questions in the future. I received the results of the inspection on a Monday via email and everything went smoothly from there. I called a couple of places for quotes on the cost of the home inspection and radon testing. His price was very affordable then others.
