The saw seems to work quite well after about 4 tanks of fuel. I'm quite pleased. The saw seems to have about as much power as it did in its prime. I was concerned about durability and tolerances of the Chinese aftermarket cylinder/piston. But the cost of this repair was less than half the quote from a Stihl dealer, and was quite fair based on my search on ebay, etc, for aftermarket parts. The "normal" dealer charges for Stihl parts, plus labor, would have been almost the cost of a new Stihl. When some minor aftermarket parts arrived and didn't look like they would meet their standards, they called me, discussed the situation, ordered some better parts from Stihl, and kept the repair cost in line with their estimates. Excellent service. Time will tell whether the aftermarket parts hold up. I'm glad to run this experiment on an older, small-ish saw. Wieses are Dolmar dealers, so I was pleased that they would take on an old Stihl project. It's now my backup. I did search for a replacement saw, and eventually settled on a Makita, sold by another dealer 1/2 mile from my woodlot. For what it's worth, the corresponding Dolmar saw from Wieses' would have saved me about 12% over what I paid. They were also cheaper than any comparable saw source that I found on the internet, including eBay, Bailey's or Amazon. Regarding puctuality -- I told them at the outset that I was in NO HURRY to get the saw back, so they worked the repairs to fit around parts orders and other stuff. I didn't rate them "A" for punctuality, not because they did anything wrong, but because I didn't push much. I would definitely consider them for future work, or if I need a different saw.
Description of Work: Diagnosed and repaired a Stihl 026 with a scored cylinder. Replaced cylinder and piston with aftermarket parts, per my request, after a thorough discussion. Also evaluated the rest of the saw, made repairs as necessary to keep it running, and identified items that may become problems in the future. There was no hard sell to perform additional work, just matter-of-fact discussion.
