They initially used a sealant on two of the leaks to plug the leaks and in the end they could not get the foundation sealed in those areas. They let us know that there was a problem with the concrete in our foundation. They offered us our money back and they also offered a deal for the money to be put towards a sump pump system and we have not had any trouble since that time as we chose the sump pump option. They jack hammered the floor and put in the pvc pipe and the basement waterproofing system. The work turned out well. They were professional during the work, even during a frustrating situation. They did their best with the work and they made it right. Their price was competitive.

We called Linnie after we found water in our basement. Linnie was able to come out and give an estimate within a few days of calling and found a small crack in our foundation which was the source of the water. Linnie was very professional, nice and helpful. He explained all of our options and helped us choose the one that was best for us (he didn't just try to give us the most expensive fix). He also looked into other methods of repair when we explained what other contractors had recommended. Within 2 weeks of signing the contract, Billy came out to repair our crack. Billy was super friendly and was willing to explain the whole process. The work is guaranteed for 25 years which is a nice piece of mind. We were very happy with all the staff and work that we received and highly recommend ABT for any basement work that you need done.

ABT refused to return my entire deposit of $3,900, deducting $350 for their "trouble." They acknowledged they couldn't perform the job as our contract specified, but took no responsibility for breaking the contract. When I told them I'd had to hire a plumber to move the toilet and sink and other things they requested we do, they said that wasn't their problem. Then, adding insult to injury, they sent a check for my deposit (less $350) that my bank wouldn't accept because they had written certain conditions on the back and created a "conditional endorsement" situation. I had to mail the check back to them and sign a form stating I wouldn't seek the remainder of my deposit before they would cut a new check. Don't use this company!
Description of Work: ABT gave me an estimate for installation of a basement perimeter drain and sump pump system, around $7,000. The workmen came and started the job, jack-hammering our basement concrete. They discovered our 1925 home had no footers, and told us they couldn't do the job we had agreed upon. They said they could put in a more expensive system if we wanted, but we said no thanks. They patched the holes in our concrete and left.

Even right away this "solution" felt wrong given that the problem was NOT humidity (we've always had a dehumidifier in the basement and in the sub-basement--granted, cheaper ones, but they kept the air quite dry). When the man arrived to carry the new dehumidifier into the basement and turn it on, I was already concerned because he had said, prior to bringing the dehumidifier downstairs, "I want to make sure your problem is humidity." The problem is wet cement that stays wet, breeding all kinds of mold and mildew whose smell may be penetrating upstairs, especially in our closets. The $1600 dehumidifier ran all summer and fall, all this past very hot summer, with no change at all in the color or in the size of the wet areas. I've written three letters now; the first two times the return call happened while we were out of town (bad timing, our fault). I just mailed a third request asking yet again for a solution to our problem. I would like ABT to remove the useless dehumidifier and to reimburse me. But, in all honesty, I'd like them to use their expertise--why we phoned them in the first place--to fix our problem...... I checked n/a in terms of price because I have nothing with which to compare the cost of this Santa Fe system.
Description of Work: Half of our basement, the part under the bedrooms and bathroom, is a crawl space or sub-basement. For years, overflowing and broken roof gutters meant that water began to seep into this area over years and years--we were inexperienced homeowners at the time, not realizing how important gutters are--we'll take the blame for that carelessness. We wanted to fix the existing problem of wet cement after installing new gutters (in 2010). Someone from ABT Foundations visited, assessed the situation, took pictures, explained the problem which included some poor choices by our home's original builder. We know what the problem is, seepage into the basement from overflowing gutters over 20 years. The solution proposed, a $1600 dehumidifier, was brought downstairs and turned on.

Great! Came out to do an estimate. Told us our options, including waterproofing and also digging a drainage trench (?). The cost difference was enormous--a few hundred bucks v. a few thousand. They recommended starting with the waterproofing. I was pleasantly surprised, since I thought we'd need serious work to the foundation but they said "no, try this first." On the day of, they showed up on time, did their work, and were gone within a couple hours. The basement was unfinished, so they just injected some stuff (?) into the cracks, put up some white panelling to cover it and reinforce it, cleaned up and were gone. We haven't had a drop of water in the basement since. It's been great.

ABT Basement Solutions came to our home to give us advice on a water control system. We explained the water issues we were having, and they assured us that their system would solve our problems. We paid $4500 for a full perimeter system that was installed in the inner perimeter of our home. We also installed a sump pump. The system was installed in April of 2011. We had a few issues that April and asked ABT to return to our home. We thought we saw damp spots in two of the problem corners in the basement. They were reluctant to return to inspect their work, but finally agreed to come. They assured us that the dampness we saw was normal. We had carpeting installed in our basement in August of 2011. We spent $1500 on the carpet and installation. In May of 2012, we had an evening of heavy spring rains. Our ENTIRE basement floor flooded - even areas that had never been wet before! We called ABT and the excuses began. First we were told by their manager that our system was clogged, so they weren't responsible. (It was later proved that there was not a clog.) Then we were told that they can't be responsible for the amount of rain we had - even though their website says clearly, "We prevent water after heavy spring rains." Then, after spending $1,200 for Stanley Steemer to remove the water, ABT finally arrived with a crew to inspect the problem. They said their system worked! When we asked about all the water in the basement, the manager said, " We don't guarantee that you won't have water in the basement, we guarantee that water will get to the sump through our system. You should have read your contract." Apparently, water getting to the sump over the floor and through the carpet is part of their "basement solution." In addition, the manager commented that when his crew arrived, there was no water in the basement. Of course he had already spoken repeatedly to Stanley Steemer when they were at our home, so he knew we had the water removed. Not only do we have a ruined basement, but ABT has refused to come back and try to repair what is obviously a faulty system. They are rude, unfriendly, and dishonest. AND, if you hold them accountable for their product or ask questions, they will hang up on you! Find another company unless you want to get "soaked." We are so disappointed and angry. We have spent nearly $8,000 total on our basement. Our carpeting and other personal goods are destroyed. We had to pay to have water removed when we installed a water control system. When the system didn't work, the company will not stand behind their product. We are out of all the money with no resolution in sight!

Response from ABT Foundation Solutions Inc
After reviewing the frivolous claim that your member has submitted, we are requesting that you remove this complaint from your file. The members have submitted this same complaint to the Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin and to the Wisconsin Association of Foundation Repair Professionals. In both cases, the organizations dismissed the situation after reviewing the facts. Below is our actual response to them through the Better Business Bureau, and is our response in this situation. “We understand that they have moisture in their basement that soaked the carpet during a series of rains that hit Oshkosh leaving between 3.39 and 4.50 inches within 24 hours. The occurred on May 2nd and 3rd and flooded streets in Oshkosh and in her neighborhood. ABT had installed a water control system in her basement in April 2011. ABT empathizes with them as the mess and damages are inconvenient and costly. When she called to inform us of water in the basement, we immediately sent one of our servicemen to her home to check out the situation. We made her a priority amid a variety of other calls prompted by the heavy rains the night before. The serviceman was at their home by 10:00 A.M. He observed that the carpet was wet but there was no standing water. He checked the ABT system and sup pump. All components were working. He made arrangements for ABT to come back to flood check the system. Please not that our office was in the middle of a very busy day, with many customers wanting our services due to the flooding. But we made arrangements to check it the following morning. The team that checked the system determined that the system was installed properly and was functioning properly. Our contract signed by her states the following: - “Services and materials sold under this agreement are warranted to be free from defects under normal use and service for a period of twenty-five years after installation..” - “ABT Foundation Solutions, Inc.’s liability under this warranty is limited to the cost of repair of defective work or materials during the warranty are limited to the cost of repair of defective work or materials during the warranty period and for no other damages or losses. All claims under this warranty must be submitted directly to ABT Foundation Solutions, Inc. in writing and per Wisconsin Administrative code ATCP 111 shall be responded to within forty-five (45) days and all warranty work shall be completed within one hundred eighty (180) days.” - ABT…hereby warrants that if water from the floor wall joint passes through the perimeter water control system and onto the basement floor that ABT will provide the additional labor and materials to fix the leak at no additional charge to the property owner. …Because pump or power failure is possible, this warranty is not a guarantee of a dry basement as the scope of this work can’t guarantee that in all circumstances.” - “ABT…is not responsible for personal property damaged due to leaking, regardless of the reason for leaking.” While we at ABT understand their frustration, we cannot be responsible for the damages or refund her money for a system that was installed correctly and is functioning properly. We have been upfront and honest with her throughout the process, even though she had been difficult to work with at times during this process. She has called our office repeatedly and resorted to name-calling and yelling at our personnel. She states within her complaint that “We didn’t receive any “heavy” rains after the equipment was installed in 2011.” This is not true as we have data that shows that we received 4.90” of rain during April 2011, 3.25” during June 3.76” during September, and 3.99” during November 2011. No repairs are necessary at this time and ABT will continue to service and stand behind their current system if needed.”

They were very professional and we are very happy with the outcome (though we are no experts). We received 3 quotes from local businesses, and they were by far the least expensive. They also had great reviews and customer service, so it seemed like a no brainer. The owner of the company was here every day and the other 2 crew members were equally professional. They were in and out in 1 week. No complaints!

The quality of work is outstanding. They did interior finishing work, which many of their competitors didn't offer. They admitted a slight mistake that they fixed. They didn't have to admit it, but they admitted it up front and I appreciated that. They took care of it completely at no cost to me. They were excellent. The price was a little higher than the competitor, but it was well worth it.

We got 3 quotes for radon mitigation in our basement. BBT had a very competitive price and were very knowledgable on the subject. My wife and I felt comfortable with them and their experience. The guys showed up on time the day of the install and worked quickly and cleanly. We even had a bit of broken concrete that could have been leaking radon and they patched that area for us even though it hadn't been included in the estimate. They were in and out quickly and didn't leave a mess behind. They came back the following week to run the follow up test to determine if the system is working well enough to get our level down. We haven't gotten the results back from the lab, but BBT has assured us that if we weren't below 4.0 they would be right back out to remedy the situation. I am very pleased with the work and pricing and would recommend them for anyone else who needs radon mitigation.

Everything went exactly a I expected. They arrived on time, put plastic barriers up in the basement to control the dust. They jackhammered through the cement floor, installed the drain tile and the sump pump, and connected the discharge to my underground gutter system. They were in an out in 6 hours. The pump hasn't run yet and I don't expect it to do so until the spring thaw. I've had flooding in my unfinished basement (100 year old foundation) every spring for 25 years and hope this will fix the problem.
Description of Work: They installed drainage tile and a sump pump under my basement floor, They were effecient and kept the dust and mess to a minimum. They did what they said they would and I would recommend them. Most of my water issues are in the spring and my sump pump has not run since it was installed, so I probably won"t know how everything works until next spring.

Ever aspect of the process was comfortable and well done. The initial estimate was done promptly, with what seemed to me a reasonable estimate (i.e. less lower that I expected). The crew, including the owner, showed up precisely on time. After discussion initiated by me, we decreased the extent of the repairs without difficulty, and the cost was appropriately adjusted. The work proceeded efficiently, and was finished at least a half day more quickly than I expected. The work site was completely cleaned, and there was no dust or disturbance in the rest of the house. This was the first work for which I had consulted Angie's list, and I felt that the prior reviews were very positive. I was not disappointed. Over all a very good experience.

It went very well. The guys were on time, found the crack, sealed it and cleaned up their mess! The cost was great considering I payed over one thousand dollars the year before to have the crack repaired from the outside by a different company and it still leaked. I have not had ANY water since. It's guarenteed for life. I used to be worried during storms and I no longer even think about the basement leaking. Well worth the money!

We had a great experience with Better Basement Technologies throughout the entire process. What set them apart from the competition was their lifetime warranty on their repairs. Ultimately, the warranty was the main reason why we chose them, besides the friendly and timely service. Their staff who did the repair were outstanding. They did not rush the job, they took their time (which is huge for me) and they did a very thorough job and cleaned up after themselves. I hope i never have anymore foundation issues, but if I do I will not hesitate on contacting them again.

They were very professional, explained everything they were going to do in advance and then accomplished that. They cleaned up after themselves better than it was before they came. There were no suprises. The workers were very polite and professional. I was very happy with this company and would use them for any other business I my need.
Description of Work: I had a crack in my basement wall that I had "repaired" by S & K Construction last year at 3 times the cost that I paid Better Basements and my basement still leaked this year. S&K, even though he said he was going to regrade the back yard, did not. When Better Basements came in, they left my back yard in better shape than it was. I can see that the crack is completely sealed and I got a lifetime guarentee that is transferable. I can rest easy the next time we have a storm and not worry that it is going to leak.
