It went very badly. To start things off, I had contacted them at the end of April and Nick, the owner, came up with a proposal on May 1st. I sent him a deposit of $1530 on May 5th and he just now came out to do the work on June 22nd. As for the work that was done, the garage portion is okay. The front porch and screened porch is where there were issues. I had a cast iron support on the front porch that was rusting so he built a wooden square post around it. He didn't ask if I wanted it painted or what color I would like if I did want it painted, he just painted it without informing me first. Right next to the porch where he was working, I have beautiful 4 1/2 ft ferns growing that took me nearly 4 1/2 years to get them to grow that tall. They never once mentioned to me any concerns that the ferns were in the way and made him unable to paint, he just trampled them to the ground. There were 9 ferns in total that are just trashed. I told him after I saw the damage to the ferns that if he had come to me, I could've run a string along the edge and pulled them back out of the way. He never came to me and told me this was a problem and he didn't even ask me if I wanted them to paint the post in the first place. As for the screened porch, there are 14 panels. He replaced 2 of them using a darker screen that doesn't match the other 12 panels. I don't know what to do about it now. He once again never told me that the screens didn't match. I was sure that I told him that I wanted the same kind of screen beforehand. Now i have two panels that are black and don't match. He also replaced a door. Where the door is, there is concrete that is pitched so the water runs away. He hung the door so it doesn't scrape the patio, but he left a 1 inch gap at the bottom of the door. I live in a wooded area and now because of that gap, mice and other critters can get in. Before he came, I had a board up against there to use as a brace against the door to keep the mice out. That is not there anymore. The workmanship was very upsetting as well as the supervision of the job. There were a lot of workers in my yard and he didn't supervise the trampling of my ferns, he didn't ask if I wanted the post painted, didn't tell me about the mismatched screens, didn't express concern about the gap at the bottom of my door and lastly, he didn't supervise or have his workers clean up after themselves. The yard was a disaster. There were dirty fingerprints everywhere, dust all over the place and nails and debris on the ground.They left the patio chairs outside and didn't put them back in the porch, and they also didn't put my birdbath back after they moved it. It wasn't until I complained to him about the mess that he made everyone come back and clean. They were just going to leave it like that. I still owe $1000 for this work and I am reluctant on paying it because the workmanship was so bad. I let him know about my issue with the panels and he agreed to come back out to replace the other panels to match the 2 he had replaced. He told me he had no idea when that would be and that they are busy. I haven't heard from him since and no longer want him back. I will never hire him again.

As I mentioned, the job was more complex than expected, but the work was done is a very timely fashion. The men who were working were all very nice and professional. They were very tolerant of my three year old son and seven year old daughter watching them work for a while (I supervised, of course), which I appreciated. The last day they all stayed much later than they expected to get everything finished up well. No cutting corners, just positive attitudes and excellent work. I would absolutely call High Quality contracting again for any other job, big or small, I was extremely satisfied with their thoroughness, honesty, dependability and overall great work. Definitely give them a call for an estimate, you won't be disappointed.

Nick is honest and says what he is going to do, as well as going the extra mile and doing even more. He took into consideration our wishes, (we requested that cedar would be used, and we had certain design aspects in mind), the city inspection requirements, and used his understanding of construction so the porch would compliment the lines of our home (the front yard railing matched the porch). He and his crew finished the project in one day. We are very pleased with High Quality Contracting and would highly recommend their work !!

We had an exceptional experience with Nick. From the start to the finish we were impressed by his professionalism and integrity. Beyond being highly skilled, Nick and his crew were extremely professional - They arrived when they said they would and finished the project on a very timely basis. Further, they were very attentive to detail, almost obsessive, ensuring that each aspect of the project they completed was "showroom quality." A specific example of this commitment to quality was how Nick handled the cabinet construction portion of the job. We decided to purchase and paint the cabinets ourselves (don't every buy cabinets from Menards, the quality and service is horrendous). In hindsight, it was a complete waste of time and money. Nevertheless, Nick accepted our decision and did his best to make these poorly constructed (non-square, questionable construction) cabinets work. In fact, they spent twice the time on the job for this project to ensure everything was "right." You'll be hard-pressed to find a crew like Nick's. We intend to make him our 1st choice was all future jobs, big and small.

After repeated attempts to contact him I never received the quote and ended up going with another contractor. This guy lost over 10,000 dollars worth of business and didn't seem to care. Please choose someone else...

Very Punctual and professional

I explained the situation to Nick the owner. He first said he would be able to come out in 3 days, but then came out because he had some extra time and came out today. He told me that it was such a quick job that he didn't even charge me. Even though he could have charged me $100 or so. I will definitely use him in the future for anything I need that he can do. And highly recommend him to everyone

The project was a major success. We had gotten quotes from several contractors for this project. High Quality Contracting (Nick Wegner) had a competitive price and was the only contractor we felt comfortable with even though he wasn't the lowest price. We have a 1 year old toddler in the house and we wanted the project to go as quickly and smoothly as possible to minimize disruption for our little girl. We felt Nick was the best guy to do this. We were right and we are very thankful we paid slightly more to use his services. I'm confident if we had gone with one of the other bids the project would have been a nightmare. Nick is somewhat unique as he is not just a sales guy. He is a construction guy that has intimate knowledge of all aspects of building/remodeling. Our bid experience with him was very different than with other companies. He came in wearing construction clothes from a job site where they were lifting an entire house up one level. It was obvious he knew exactly what he was talking about. He was able to make some very helpful design suggestions for our project. Nick is the nicest, most responsive contractor I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I have done over a dozen significant projects (>$5,000) on multiple different properties with various contractors and had many bad experiences with responsiveness, professionalism, and price. Nick is the only contractor I've met that provides a high quality service at a reasonable price. He's not looking to gouge you. He truly loves what he does and wants to provide a job he is proud of for a fair price. He's one of the most honest, caring contractors I've met. Our basement remodel finished on schedule and on budget (aside from a few small changes we ordered during construction). It's even nicer than we had anticipated. We've gotten compliments from many people including the city inspector that looks at jobs like this every day for a living. We got a very high quality project for a good price.

Nick, the owner, was very nice and easy to communicate with. He continuously updated me on where he was at with his budgets he was creating for me. He communicated effectively and easily with me. It all came down to price and what made sense for our needs. I would highly recommend him!

Nick and his crew were fantastic, I really have nothing but positive things to say about our experience with him. Nick was great with communication, he always promptly returned our calls when we were in the initial phases of figuring out exactly what we wanted to do, he had a ton of knowledge of what would work and what wouldn't work for our space and once he got started, his crew was extremely friendly, the work was done quickly and they were very clean. His pricing was very fair and we will definitely be using him for future projects that we have. I HIGHLY recommend using High Quality Contracting for any job you might have.

So far so good. It was wonderful that Nick keeps trying to find ways to save us funds. He responds quickly to any concerns.

From the start my dealing with High Quality Contracting were a pleasure. Nick went out of his way to make sure that the job was done right. From the initial consultation to the final install. Nick arrived to measure for the new door. I had initially planned on buying one from Home Depot. But after measuring we found out that any prehung door would have to be shortened in order to properly fit. Nick quickly sent me a few options. I chose one and was ready to order it but Nick found one that would better fit my needs ad was less expensive too! When the ordered door arrived Nick set up the install. The crew arrived promptly and finished the complex install in a few hours. Part of the job was to reinstall a dog door into the new entry door. This too was expertly done and the result was fantastic. After the crew left, Nick came back to inspect the job to make sure it was done right and to make sure that I was completely satisfied. I will plan on using High Quality Construction for all of my carpentry needs. Their name truly reflects their work.

No muss, no fuss. The representative who came to see the situation and take care of the paperwork was attentive and helpful, even informative. It was a small job and they took care of it quickly and at a good price. They also gave a very reasonable quote on further work that we thought we'd need done soon. They honestly told us that we didn't need to rush and probably have another year or two to get around to it. Very professional on all fronts, though it did take quite a while to get our invoice.

It is Sunday and it is raining today. It is also my birthday. Today I don't have to worry about my roof because of Nick and High Quality Contracting. My roof was improperly installed before I purchased it as a foreclosure from Guardian Credit Union 3 years ago. As a result, new 20 year shingles are blowing off in large chunks. This happened last summer and again this summer. I called Nick and he came out, looked at the roof for me and gave me a quote right away by phone for the repair. I initially even turned down his quote for another company that got back to me about an hour before Nick. The first company wasted a week of good weather and never got me on their schedule. I called Nick back, late in the week and asked him if he could do it and he agreed. Not only was Nick onsite the very next morning, squeezing my repair in between bigger jobs, but he gave me a full assessment of future repairs and promised to send me a quote for the roof of my home and my garage along with the invoice for the repair. I am super picky about customer service. Heck, I can be a total prima donna if a barista doesn't get my coffee right. Nick is the definition of professional, in my opinion. Don't bother with another company for your roof. You've found the right one with High Quality Contracting.

Nick was very professional and prompt. He was a bit late providing a promised quote but called me to let me know he was working on it and will provide it as soon as possible. The quote was a little higher than someone else so I didn't end up going with him but he was a pro.

Home run. I will definitely hire them again. I suggest that you do too.

In the beginning the thought was the job would get done in two days but after possible weather troubles and finding of items not done correctly by the previous owner the job took 4 days. I did not learn about this until after the third day (my only negative thought about this job, communication during the job, however the owner was pleased with my feedback and addressed the issue). The work was done very well. I told them when they started that I want the job done correctly and if things were not done right please fix them which they did. Each day they cleaned up the mess that was created and made sure no nails were left in the grass. My experience with this company was pleasant and I would use them again.

I called High Quality Contracting, and Nick returned my call within a few hours. He came over within a few days, evaluated, and fixed the roof problems, that same day. It really was as easy as that. In my case, a little job didn't turn into a big one, or a push to replace the entire roof. I'm not suggesting that they can fix everyone's problems as efficiently as they did mine, but, that's what my recent experience was. I've used High Quality Contracting on two jobs now. I'll certainly call them again the next time I need something. Nick gives you opinions that are based on a lot of experience, and I've always felt I can trust what he says. He's a hard-working, energetic guy that likes the work he does. In short, dealing with Nick feels more like dealing with a friend, and less like dealing with a contractor.

From the beginning walk-through meeting with Nick to the completion of the job this was a very positive experience. Nick and his entire crew were very prompt, professional, and yet friendly. They went above and beyond what they were asked to do and were willing to answer all questions and give suggestions where appropriate. I will be sure to call them again when needed and would recommend them to anyone I know.

I contacted High Quality Contracting in regards to having them provide an estimate for repairing some drywall that was damaged due to leaks in both the dining room and kitchen. After about a week of back and forth that included scheduling a walk through of the damage, getting an estimate, and scheduling service, we had a date for repair. About a week after that, HQC showed up with a crew to get to work on the repairs. The crew was professional, well mannered, and adept at their trade. All told, it took about 4 hours start to finish, which included ripping out the old drywall, patching in the new drywall, and texturing the ceilings. They prepped both rooms and hung / put down plastic everywhere to protect all of our belongings, and got right to work. I was surprised it only took 4 hours, and when they were finished, they cleaned everything up very nicely. After signing a couple of papers for the work done, they were out and I was very pleased with results. Even my father (who has been a contractor for 40 years) was impressed with how well they blended the old drywall with the new. Overall, very happy with High Quality Contracting, and would definitely use them for future projects.

We called Nick in August to discuss the need for new windows and some other changes we would like to make to our home. He met with us several times to discuss our options. We are very satisfied with the work he did. His crew is very conscientious providing a quality finished product. We had constant contact with Nick as he set up appointments for us to meet with vendors for windows and tiling. Projects were completed as promised. What we liked was Nick's involvement and his inspection after each stage of construction was completed. We would highly recommend High Quality Contracting Inc. for any building need. At this time we are waiting for an estimate to have our home insulated.
