B Engle Asphalt Maintenance

Initially we tried to have the job done with Still Sealcoating hired based on a special deal offered through Angie's list. After three weeks the guys still did not do the work! So, we decided to fire Still Sealcoating and hire B Engels based on a prior experience. After we called B Engels, the next day (!) they showed up, did an excellent job and now we have our driveway done!

This is not just about the date of Feb 2, 2011. I hired this company for snow removal for the winter. Although in the contract was stated that they should do the snow removal before 6 am they would always be late. On February 2, they came after 5 pm! In addition, with every snow removal they would push the snow with the plows deep on my lawn running over it with the tires. When I complained about both issues (running over the lawn and being too late), instead of apologizing, Brian (possibly the owner) became irritated and decided to unilaterally terminate the contract!

I am really not thrilled about the experience with him. First of all I explained to them that it was our rental house so they had to contact the people who lived there as they had 3 small children and make arrangements with them because once the asphalt is put down you can?t drive on it for 24 hours. We also had a load of mulch which was on the parking pad that had to be removed from my tenant. He called me up after they showed up and I told them I was clear when I said that they had to make arrangements with the tenants before they went out and did anything there. The next day I received a bill in my mailbox. I called them and said they never called me back to tell me that they had done it. One weekend I got hold of my tenant and on Sunday we went out to take a look at the driveway. At end of the driveway there were holes that had developed. They had not put any materials in those holes to make it look good. I called them and said I was disappointed. He went off on a ramp on how he would go to the collection agency because I hadn?t paid the bill. He finally sent me the second one and that?s when I went out there. I complained about the fact that a couple of holes were not patched. He went off about how he would contact his lawyer. He agreed to meet us out there. I sent my husband with the check in his hand and expected them to patch the holes and take the money. They were not going to patch that area. They just wanted the money. My husband called me and I told him to give the check to them as I was through them. I will never use them again and I wouldn?t recommend them to anyone. The price was excellent. I specifically told them not to spray chemicals on the side of the road because the people who lived there were organic and also because we had flowers that were planted along the side the road. He takes a look at it. The holes are getting bigger. Other than that the road is fine.

THEY ARE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND PROFESSIONAL. THEY HAD A GOOD PRICE. THEY DO NOT OVERSELL.

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
