Description of Work: I recently bought an old restored farmhouse in rural WI. Half the house's electric power was intermittent. I arranged for A & S to come out to fix it. John from A & E was punctual and polite. He rapidly troubleshooted the problem (a bad breaker) and fixed it; he also found another problem ( a bad GFI outlet in one of the bathrooms), which he also took care of. I will happily call A & E for my electrical needs! A nice experience. There was no labor charge, as there was an Angie's list special.

Description of Work: I'd purchased his services through a Big Deal, so the 2 hours of work were pre-paid. Over several email conversations we had a mix-up on the date the work was to be done. To remedy that, the electrician offered to do the work on a Saturday, which we thought was pretty incredible. He did a fine job replacing a bunch of faulty switches, and I was amazed when he washed off one of the switch plates that was a bit dirty! My husband and I were impressed and pleased with his work (and that he covered his shoes as he entered our home). We will schedule him to do another job that we talked over when he was here.

Description of Work: We had a 22 year old Hellenbrand water softener that seemed to have a timer motor problem. Hellenbrand offered to send out a technician so see if the unit could be repaired, but advised that it was probably time to replace the water softener with a new model. Capital indicated that they did not repair Hellenbrand softeners, but also advised that it was time to replace the old softener with a new unit. Based on very helpful discussions with the Capital representative, and our own online research, we decided that the Capital softener seemed comparable to, if not identical to, the Hellenbrand unit, but was almost $200 less expensive. We therefore decided to install a new Capital softener, but chose to have it installed by a local plumber, whose overall cost was slightly less than the charge proposed by Capital. The Capital representative was very supportive of this decision, indicating that the plumber we had chosen for installation was knowledgeable about installing Capital softeners and that they were happy if customers bought Capital softeners regardless of who installed them, so long as it was a competent water softener installer. Our overall experience with Capital was extremely positive.

Description of Work: The company sent a electrician to my house when I asked them to check a power outage in my garage. He was on time and in a good mood in spite of the cold and torrential rain. After inspecting the electrical outlet in the garage, he explained that the power source for my garage was located in the exra lot I had just sold. While this was obvious to him, and to the person who bought my lot, it had not been spelled out for me, and he did so in a courteous manner. He then explained how the garage would need to be powered by a line that ran from my house, and about how much that would cost. The job was and is still too expensive for me, but I felt like it had been explained in full, and that the estimate was reasonable considering what the job would entail. I would consult them again regarding a different electric problem in my house.
