Wisconsin Firewood & Melvin Mulch LLC

We've been buying our firewood from Wisconsin Firewood for many years, and have been consistently pleased with the results. They've always been on schedule, dropped the wood in the correct place, etc. This year for the first time we paid to have them stack the cord of wood we purchased. The two guys who came out could not have been more professional, friendly, or courteous. They actually exceeded our expectations by collecting the odd pieces and putting them in (our) buckets for us to use for kindling ... and then swept the driveway! One note: I'd recommend staying away from the "mixed hardwoods" - it burns OK, but you'll get all kinds of odd shapes that can be difficult to stack. It's well worth paying the extra money for a specific wood mix such as "oak/ash" which comes in very uniformly sized pieces.

Quality mixed hardwood. Worth it to get the kiln dried. Clean mix of wood, nice consistent piece size perfect for fires. No pieces too large, no junk wood. If you’re looking for firewood shop no further, save your time and money and buy from here.

No complaints they arrived when they said they would and put the mulch exactly where expected the self service firewood are is very convenient

Firewood delivered was mainly old and dead. 20% was wood splinters and chips unusable in a fireplace.

I did an online order on 5/4/16 for mulch to be delivered in the morning on Thursday, May 26, 2016. I received an email confirmation that evening which included a copy of the information I submitted on the web order. The first thing I saw was that my credit card number was included in the email. I quickly dashed off a message telling them I wasn't pleased and that they opened my credit card for anyone to hack me. I also told them that they need to correct their website. On Friday, May 5, 2016 we came home to find 5 yards of mulch in front of our garage door. There is no way that I can get my car out until the mulch is moved. We had no plans to mulch for Mother's Day but we will have to in order to get both cars in and out of the garage. WE had been Wisconsin Firewood and Melvin Mulch customers for many years but we will not longer do business with them going forward.

Fast service and nice load of mixed hardwoods. Very happy with purchase and would order from again.

I called their office, discussed my options and made an order for a half cord of Cherry firewood. It was delivered when it was scheduled, I paid $60 extra to have it stacked. All went well, nice experience all the way around. I will use them again, no need to look further.

For me the big selling point was Melvin's clearly posted prices online. I went to 5 different landscaping website and I couldn't find prices for delivery of mulch. My guess they want to get you on the phone since their first order of business is not supply mulch, but to offer landscaping services. I ordered the 5 yards of mulch via Melvin's handy web form around noon on Thursday. Friday morning at 8:15am I got a confirmation call saying they'd deliver it that day. The delivery driver said they didn't happen to be very busy but I was impressed by the turnaround. The mulch was free of trash, bugs, and other non-mulch items and looks great. I went with their cheapest mulch but even though they had more expensive types none of it seemed very expensive.

the shredded bark was provided on time promised. It was high quality. The driver did an excellent job in placement of the pile on our driveway.

Placed the order by phone. The order was delivered on time and deposited in the proper place. The quality of the product was above avereage and well worth the money. The driver who dropped off the mulch was courteous and helpful. Have used this provider before and would use them again.

I ordered a half cord consisting of half hickory and half mixed firewood. After stacking it I seriously doubt it had even 1/4 hickory. The load was definitely short. My woodbox was built to hold exactly a face cord and their load came up probably 100 pieces short. Close to half of the wood is moldy and rotten, so much so that some of it is not useable and I definitely can not store it in the house because of the smell. It was also very wet. I was not told in advance that it would be wet but they slip you a note after delivery that you need to bring it inside to dry. Really??? How can I bring it inside when it smells so bad???? Please, I know firewood is in short supply this year but please pass this company by.

Outstanding responsiveness! I made request on a Friday morning after e-mailing with a rep. there and after looking at the range of their mulches on their website. The website is well designed, both for their mulches and for gravel/stone. You can see many examples clearly and check out their prices on the same page. This is useful because there are so many mulch types out there. I know a little about mulches and appreciated the details on their site. It made making a choice very easy. Also part of the outstanding experience was the fact that they responded and delivered the mulch the day I requested it! Convenient because now, whether I like it or not, the weekend can be spent spreading mulch throughout our large yard. I'd easily recommend them for their mulch in bulk and may take advantage of their landscaping stone next season. Thanks to Susan and Dave for their help and may they continue to do very well with their business.

I called to inquire about having mulch delivered at 12:30 in the afternoon. The person answering the phone was very knowledgeable and helpful. I placed the order at that time for 3 yards of hemlock mulch to be delivered. They were able to deliver it that day, and by 2:15 it was in my driveway, exactly where I asked it to be left. Excellent quality mulch, great professional driver, and overall I couldn't ask for a better experience. I will definitely use them again.

It was free shipping after ordering 3 yards for the Milwaukee area in a certain radius. They were very competitive on price. Around the holidays they get backed up and don't always return calls. They didn't respond to calls initially.

Ordered online on Thursday night, confirmed on Friday and delivered Saturday morning. The delivery guy was early, took about an hour for him to stack the wood and he cleaned up the mess in the driveway. I would use them again but we bought on face cord oak and one mixed of maple & cherry. The wood is split into smaller sizes and burns relatively fast, so we are using it rather quickly. No small logs, all split wood.

I went to Melvin Mulch because the has a very good selection of landscape rocks on the internet. I wandered around the yard for about 10 minutes before I had had enough. The guy in the bobcat didn't even acknowledge me when I tried to wave him down. I went to Advance Landscaping around the corner to make my purchases.

Delivered the next day. No issues.

When they dumped the wood in my driveway, it was obvious that a front-end loader or Bobcat was used because after I finished stacking t here was a HUGE pile of dirt, gravel, woodchips and garbage left behind that they scooped up with the wood when they loaded their truck. Where I live, there is no option for a pickup of such debris. I did not want to mix it with the soil in my flower or vegetable beds because of the extremely poor quality. My call to complain was met with the reply ,"That is the way we do business" by the receptionist. I had to make several trips to haul it all away to a landfill. I now buy my firewood from a comparably priced firm that hand picks the wood and loads it by conveyor. I now end up with a tiny pile of debris that I sweep up and easily dispose of .
