Sigma Exteriors was eventually purchased by Tower Energy International, which is a great service provider of energy efficient facilities, but no residential roofing experience.
Description of Work: I never got of the ground with doing business with Sigma Exteriors. They took my money and knowingly went into chapter 11 and then into chapter 7. Initial ratings with the BBB was good and soon after my experience they had dropped to a "D" rating and eventually no standing with the BBB.

Description of Work: Large picture window and two small slider windows installed. Salesman was nice and seemed to know his business. I asked him why I would choose Sigma over others because there quote was highest (or close to). He said they had the best warranty and they have the highest quality window. I met with him the first week in Dec 2010. I explained that time was a factor for me because the window that needed replacing was so bad it is really creating high heat bills for my tenant. Window had to be special order, but I was told it would be installed mid to late January. So, I signed the contract and paid 50% down. I didn't hear anything from them in January. I started calling in February and have never experienced such a run around. The woman who answered (back when someone answered there) would always tell me that the person I needed to talk to was out on a job or "just stepped out" when I was given a time to call back. Was told he would call me. That didn't happen until The last week in February. This guy apologized for delay and said they were "moving offices" and stuff got overlooked. He said the window is scheduled to be completed by the end of the week and he will call me to schedule an install date March 7. HA. I finally called March 14 and it was just an answering service then. No one ever called back. I finally emailed the address for the owner on the website. I started doing some checking on line and found a report on the Better business bureau that they were out of business. then I got an email --from someone (not person I sent my email too) who finally scheduled an install and the window went in April 22. FOUR MONTHS. Then, I get a voice message that he wants to "meet so I can pay him the remainder due". I have asked him to send me the invoice for remaining payment and a copy of the warranty (I am concerned there will be no warranty because they are out of business). He has now said, he will send me the warranty AFTER I pay the bill. That seems suspicious to me. Has anyone else had this experience with them? I don't even know who I am paying at this point! I believe I will be getting an attorney involved.

They were the most expensive but we wanted the best - we shopped many window companies - the salesman was great - however, we are unhappy with the costliest part of the project. PS We still have windows that have not been caulked.
Description of Work: We were promised in April 2010 that our new windows would arrive in approximately 6-8 weeks. Windows did not get delivered until the end of June. When they arrived the large picture window was not what we ordered. They all ready had removed the existing window and told me that they would have to put the window in. When I asked why they didn't give us what we ordered the response was - someone in the office made a decision that you wouldn't want what you ordered so they ordered it the way they wanted? When it was all said and done we settled for a window we didn't order - and we are still not happy with the installation of it (we asked for it to extend further out as it was a bow window and we were told it could do that, but not further than our overhang). We were going to replace all our our exterior doors but decided to go elsewhere to have that done,

There was a communication and installation problem due to internal scheduling and the weather. The price was good. The quality of products were outstanding. The installation was outstanding. I am very happy and will most definitely use their service again if they will allow me.

Vince (my go to guy there) has been great and very patient with all the many questions I have on how things are done and why things look the way they do. He also walked me through everything that needed to be fixed and how they were going about doing it. Overall, I think paying the extra money to get professionals that know what they're doing than hiring a guy that just thinks of you as a job is well worth it. I would recommend working with these people if you can! I should have my roof replaced in the next month or two.
Description of Work: I have defective shingles from CertainTeed. Although Sigma didn't give me the lowest price, they were the only ones that mentioned I had terrible shingles and that I could possibly recoop some money for it. They were also the only one that would follow the shingle provider's specifications on how to put them properly just in case I ever had a problem with it, it'd be under warranty. They have gone above and beyond anything I expected compared to the other 6 quotes I had gotten before them. None of which compared. If you are strapped for cash as I have been since I'm a first time homebuyer, they have a great program that allows you to pay them back within a year interest free. A great option for me.

How did it go overall? As I indicated in my rating above it went bad..The "Details of my Experience" add up to an F..Now Angies List has been after this report for some time yet i waited and waited to file it in hopes that Sigma Exteriors would wrap this up.Now I began this remodeling of my home project with Sigma Exteriors in spring of 2009 with estimate and design phase begiinning actually in august 2009..which was later than i was told it would begin..This was the first delay of many over the course of the project which is not completely finished. The reason i am now filing is after talking with the owner about fact a gutter is not fastened and a window trim still remains unpainted for last several months.I get call from his people that they will "do it all at once" when paint comes in or whatever..It was just the last time i could hear the do it all at once line. Now after over a year with these people on an extensive remodel job I am uniquely qualified to file this..I am hesitant to go into the nightmare in too much detail because I want to get it finished and i want my warranties to actually be covered.Needless to say the littanny of problems, delays, excuses, and what not are a long list that i would get into should angies list require it...Suffice it to say that i am not happy had a long year and they are now making it even longer...its (March 1st, 2011) today and my $20,000 plus Weather Shield windows all across the front of my home look absolutely terrible with a weird oily pattern developing on all the glass anytime its around 40 or lower and no other windows in my neighborhood get it at anytime! The 2 pella windows i had put in during the job by another company (Verhalen) are beautiful in any temperature.
Description of Work: Sigma removed all the stucco from the exterior of my residence and replaced it with Hardie Plank Siding , Hardie Soffit, and Mira-Tec Trim.Sigma also added stone across lower front of residence, front entry way, and chimney.Sigma also replaced several windows across front of residence and a couple on one side as well which were (Weather Shield Windows) these windows were and as of March 1st 2011 are still defective with strange oily patterns developing all over the glass when it gets cold out like around 40 degrees or lower all winter looks terrible inside and out and from the street..they were all torn out and reinstalled only to have exact same defect as soon as it got cold again oct 2010..today 3-1-2011 still no word from Sigma as to what they are doing with my haunted windows! If you remember only one thing don't buy the weather shield windows that Sigma recommended i get!. later informed me I could use a new roof as well which they also put on.Sigma replaced my (3) garage doors and front entry door along with redoing the front entryway (roof above doorway raised and shingled in copper tegola... and 2 posts added on porch) sigma also replaced some plywood sheathing and studding that had been damaged under old stucco in some spots.Sigma also removed old gutters and installed new ones.

I solicited multiple contractor bids to replace 7 windows and 2 sliding patio doors. For an equitable evaluation, I made sure that each contractor bid on the exact same Marvin windows and doors, which I had already speced-out at the local Marvin distributor. I know Marvin is expensive but Sigma's bid was so over the top and no where near their competion. For example, Sigma quoted me $9,600.00 for the 2 Marvin patio doors, the company I hired was $5300.00 for the exact same doors. Sigma's total job bid was $25,400.00, the competion's bid was $11,089.00 for the exact time and materials - more than double. It left me wondering if they just didn't know how to bid a job or truly up-charged that much as their standard operating business model. Either way, it left a really bad impression. For obvious reasons, I did not select Sigma.

Response from Tower Energy International LLC
When I met with this member on the initial measure she was very confused about her project. She didn’t know if she wanted to do pocket replacement windows, or full tear-outs for her project & wasn’t sure at the time that we had met what particular brand of window she was looking for. She had mentioned that she had a few Marvin windows installed in the past, but wasn’t sure what particular line of Marvin windows they were or if she even wanted to go that route. She had also mentioned that she had already bought an Andersen window & was thinking about going that route. When we measured the window that she had bought and the opening that it was supposed to go in, we found that the window that she herself had measured and ordered was approx 3 inches too wide for the opening therefore could not be used without widening the opening and therefore requiring siding, trim, & drywall work as well; not just a window installation. She had even told us that no other contractor took the time to look at this & was glad we did. When we left her home I told her that I would put together multiple options for her, & when she came back we could go through what the differences were, & she could make a decision from there. She did stop by our office to review the options. However, when she got here we never talked for more than a minute. I walked into the conference room with a packet of information & 2 different lists of options. As I sat down she grabbed the one sheet, said that it was way too high, & left. The first sheet that she took was for the full tear out option which is obviously more expensive than the pocket replacement option. She never even took the time to go over the differences in any of the options that were put together, nor did she see the options for the pocket replacement options. As far as the pricing goes, the price that she is referencing at $25,400 is the highest option that was given with all the most premium products, glass pack options, additional trim work, removal and replacement of some siding, & premium installation and flashing materials. She neglected to mention in her comments that on that same sheet she had options for the entire packages that ranged from $11,200 on the low end to the $25,400 that she had mentioned. So if someone else did the project for her for $11,089 & if you took our $11,200 option with a 5% cash discount we are actually at $10,640 which is $449 cheaper than who she had gone with. Not to mention that we are still talking about a full tear-out project and not a pocket replacement project, which would have reduced the cost even more. I apologize to her that she did not fully understand the options that were presented to her. I should have tried harder to get her to stay in the office to be able to explain the different options that I had put together. As it appears, if I had done so, it looks like I actually would have been able to save her some money.

Halfway around my house Vince asked "what'll it take to get you to sign today?" I hadn't even explained every thing I wanted. From the ground he said my chimney looked good. And of course the ever popular-"what do you want to spend?" When I questioned something he said about the gutter/downspout he asked what I did for a living (how dare I question!). After taking measurements and pictures he wanted to set up a date for an estimate. I said I thought that was what today was for. Since I also wanted an estimate for possibly removing a partial overhang he had to confer with someone else. I found that answer acceptable as for the overhang, however he still could not give an estimate for the roof, gutters, downspouts, facia and vents. In response to company response: I never said I didn't have a lot of time. What I wanted done and what I was thinking of doing were both clearly stated (as listed previously in this report) . I don't understand what information he feels he wasn't given, other than his question of "what do you want to spend". The objective of an estimate is that I tell you what I want done and you tell me your price. He never asked to go on the roof ( which I found very odd) and never asked to see the attic. I never told him he was "wrong" about the downspout (located next to the electrical conduit), but I did ask him what the difference was since water can flow over the top of the gutter no matter where the downspout was located. That is when HE became indignant and wanted to know what I did for a living. At that point no amount of small talk was going to matter.
Description of Work: Consultation only. Never got an estimate. I had been given a large packet of paperwork and encouraged to check out the sites listed. I looked up www.contractors.net and went to the blog, viewing both the posts and events site. WOW. I called over the weekend and told him to forget about the estimate.

Within the first few minutes of Vince meeting with her, she told him that she didn’t have a lot of time. Due to the time constraint, Vince proceeded to ask the questions needed to understand her wants and needs in order to build her project. While questioning her, he felt she was being standoffish and not giving him the information needed to provide an accurate estimate. Vince then attempted “small talk” with her in order to try to make her more comfortable which was ineffective. Vince then wanted to continue his inspection but she refused to allow him to walk on the roof or complete an attic inspection which is necessary in order to avoid unforeseen costs. Vince then proceeded to measure the roof from the ground when he saw that her existing gutters had been improperly installed and that the downspout connected to an electrical pole had to be moved to a different area as it was a fire hazard. At this point she got upset and told Vince that he was wrong. Vince then attempted to explain to her that he is a trained professional and was just trying to help. Vince was unable to give her an estimate at the time of the appointment as he was unable to complete the attic inspection and didn’t know how to proceed with a hazardous downspout issue. In regards to www.contractors.net; the purpose of CCN – Certified Contractors Network is to enhance the professionalism, performance and perception of the construction industry. It took almost 3 months for this project to be done. In the middle of it, the workers drove a nail through an electrical wire shorting out half of the house, ruining several light fixtures as well as the garage door opener, but they insisted they did nothing wrong. We had to hire an electrical contractor to come out to find and prove that the nail caused the short. The work crew changed every day and some days they would arrive at 9, some days at noon, and some days not at all. They would work about 3-5 hours a day. My husband would point out things that didn't look right, but this was ignored. When the job was finally finished, the boss came around to inspect and said the job had been done wrong. Another crew was brought in who completely ripped off everything that had been done and within 2 weeks, had new all put on. Sigma did pay for replacing the fixtures and garage door opener that was burned out, gave us a deduction on the final cost, and gave us two 2 shirts for the inconvenience. It was a nightmare experience we don't EVER want to repeat.

Sigma Exteriors bypassed its standard processes and procedures leading to the poor construction experience the member has accurately described regarding her project in 2008. Sigma Exteriors completed the project properly and according to our high standards promptly upon the decision to redo both performance and aesthetic components of the siding project. Like many homeowners, Sigma Exteriors was taken advantage of because of trust. The siding crew which was terminated during this project was brought to us by our main supplier at the time and is a relative of their management. This was the first and only project this crew worked on with Sigma Exteriors. Sigma's normal verification of detailed installation experience was bypassed because of the prompting and recommendations by our trusted relationship with the supplier and their promise and guarantee of the crew's experience, training, and attention to quality details and because we were presented with evidence of the crews training certifications for the products being installed of which we later learned were provided to them through sponsorship by the same supplier. Sigma was repeatedly lied to by the crew leader regarding daily and weekly timelines and details of project progression throughout the first phase of the project. Several of the problematic signals were not brought to the production manager's attention as supervisors and the homeowners were told that because the project was in-process the details in question would be fixed and completed properly prior to job finish. This is the same story the crew leader we later learned had been telling the homeowners in an attempt to shield everyone from reality. Sigma Exteriors immediately took action to remedy the scenario when the realities of the project were brought to the attention of the executive management team. The crew was immediately terminated, a project assessment was completed by senior management and an outside consultant created a punch list, and then prompt action was taken. The project was taken apart and re-installed to ensure all performance and aesthetic components would be completed to the highest professional standards. Sigma Exteriors business model methodology is derived from the "six sigma" model of standardized processes and procedures and focus on a commitment to constant and never ending improvements to eliminate errors and create efficiencies. The crew was terminated as well as the production supervisor overseeing this project and Sigma tightened the processes internally to firewall similar scenarios from occurring. Sigma Exteriors greatly regrets enabling the poor construction experience described by the member in 2008 and is committed to following our processes and procedures to ensure consistent and reliable results for all our projects and the best possible construction experience. Sincerely, Matt Snyder President

Sigma was the last of 4 contractors I contacted to respond. The salesman who came spent a lot of time cautioning me that anyone else would not honor the offered warranty because there was no guarantee that the windows would be installed according to manufacturer specs. He was almost threatening about it. The estimate he gave me was the highest of the 4, about 50% higher than the next highest. Sigma did not do the work.

Within the contracting world Warrantees are one of the most confusing, and often misunderstood topics. This is especially seen in window installations as there are multiple components of the project, all of which are covered by different warrantees. What our consultant was referring to, regarding the warranty that “would not be honored” was the warranty for the installation flashing and water-proofing system that we use. As the installation of proper flashings, sill pan, and proper waterproofing sealants are very commonly overlooked, this system was not specified in any of the other quotes that this potential customer had. If the other quotes did not include the specific materials for this system, then they obviously could not offer the warranty associated with them. Regarding the cost of the project; At Sigma Exteriors, we have a written policy that is presented to our potential customers that states that “We Never Get Beat on Price”. Our “Apples to Apple” price guarantee is written out for all customers to view and states that if a competitor meets all the same Professional Project Specifications, Consumer Protection Standards, and Professional Company Standards and Business Practices, then we will match or beat that competitor’s price. This is why we know that the statement that we were “”50% higher than the next highest bid” would only be true if something within the specifications of the project was different than the other quotes than the customer had received. There is no way that we could remain in business for as long as we have, nor would we have the hundreds of referral jobs and testimonials that we do if we were overcharging people. Obviously, for there to be that type of difference in the price of the project, there would have to be a substantial difference in the project that was creating the difference in the price. In an industry that consistently appears on the tops of lists of Better Business Bureau and Consumer Reports complaints, we at Sigma Exteriors take a great amount of time and care in assuring a professional installation in an industry where the fine details of a proper installation are very commonly overlooked. Unfortunately, on a daily basis, we deal with customers who call in to our office that are extremely upset, because they are forced into a position where they have to have work re-done far earlier than they had anticipated due to improper installation. After we have helped many customers by re-doing the work that various other contractors had done improperly, a majority of these customers often tell us that they wished that they would have chosen us for their project the first time. Because of how frequently we get these calls from potential customers, our consultants are very up front with everyone that we meet with about cautioning them of the risks associated with home improvement projects if they are not done properly. Our company refuses to cut corners, we follow all manufacturer installation specifications, and we conform to all industry standards and building codes to assure our customers with a proper installation. However, most so-called “professionals” in this industry do not hold the same moral and ethical standards that we at Sigma Exteriors do, and that is why we feel that this industry has the reputation that it does. Relying on all of years of experience in this industry, and seeing the frustration of multiple customers who have had to pay two or sometimes three times to have one project done, we at Sigma Exteriors want to be sure that our consultants spend as much time as needed by each individual customer to assure that they understand what they are and are not getting with every option that they have on their project. Understandably, sometimes people do not want to hear that if they make the wrong choice in choosing the company that they work with that there is much more at risk than their initial investment in the project. Unfortunately, we could see how this approach could sometimes come across as “threatening” as the fear of what could go wrong with the project if it is not done correctly surely can be overwhelming to some customers, and make them feel threatened. By no means does our company have any intention of coming across as threatening. We attribute a great amount of our company’s success to our low-pressure sales approach, professional installation, and high customer satisfaction. Almost all of our hundreds of referrals and testimonials have specifically made mention of these things specifically. We are sincerely apologetic that this potential customer had come out of the meeting with our consultant feeling this way, as it is never our intention. We would gladly offer the opportunity for this customer to contact our office to discuss their experience with us directly.

It was an excellent experience. We went with them because the guarantee and because of the service they provided. They sent someone out and sat with us just ahead if their crew and discussed everything that was going to happen over the weeks that they were going to be here. They talked with us at the end of everyday and let us know what they had done and did excellent clean up. They also replaced a small attic window and one built an aluminum window and installed it. They also had to replace the gutter. They did a great job and I was surprised with how much interaction they had with us before they started the job and the care they took. They had to come into the house to install the attic fan and the dog was here and it did not have any problem with him and he did not have a problem with it, which was unusual.

Various ventilation options were discussed with the customer both intake and exhaust. When the contract was drawn up the intake ventilation was overlooked by accident. It should be noted that the customer was not charged for the modifications to their intake ventilation in the original contract. The on-site project manager noted that the intake ventilation needed to be corrected and approached the customer on how they wanted to proceed. When the Project Manager understood the oversight in the contract Sigma offered to split the cost of the Intake Ventilation Modifications. While we are sorry that there was an initial oversight in the original contact our system of checks ensured that the customer was not left with a substandard roof installation.

1st took 4 months from order to install; didn't come with the ordered hardware and had to call someone. Installers uneducated on storm door install and didn't bother to read instructions on closer and did it incorrectly. Left huge gaps and several drafts in the install along with much damage to wood frame and wall. Sigma had to come and do a temporary install on hardware as this was on a Sat and no one available. Also came out 2-3 more times fixing all the problems with the install. Damage to the door frame, which includes exposed nail heads, splintered wood chunk missing, horrible caulk job, sections of dry wall ripped down 2 layers (brown paper is exposed) flaps were they tried to match up the chunks of drywall that were ripped off due to their failure to cut all the way through around the frame for removal. Disclosure statements indicate there may be damage for a door install, just didn't expect the wall to be 'ripped off'. While I may use/recommend them for windows as have had no issues with that, will not use or recommend for door install. Have another door to be replaced and will definitely use someone else.

As the customer was growing impatient, we had a representative from our supplier drive over 200mi to pick up the door from the manufacturer. This was done in order to install the door on a Saturday per the customer’s request. The customer was aware that the hardware ordered was not available at the time of installation and a temporary set would need to be installed for the time being. The project agreed upon, was of a “replacement door” project. This means that only the original door slab gets replaced. The original framing from the 1928 home stays in place and is usually chosen by a homeowner with a specific budget in mind. As the customer stated, it is stated in the contract that there may be damage to the existing walls, interior casing and door frame. When removing and reusing the interior casing, there is no possible way to remove the casing , without causing some damage. The wall in no way or manner was “ripped off”. The areas around the interior casing were scored with a razor knife before removal. As this house was built in 1928, there were several thick layers of paint and drywall that had been installed over the plaster walls. There naturally was some chipping of plaster and paint. When the production department received the complaint on Monday morning, we had someone come out that very day, and inspect the issues voiced by the customer. Even though the slight damage had been discussed prior to installation, Sigma made the 2-3 trips necessary to completely fix the customer’s issues. This was far above and beyond what had been agreed to contractually. The storm door was a homeowner supplied door that the installers were unfamiliar with and therefore, had problems with the closer mechanism of this particular brand of door. Since the time of this complaint, this customer has purchased another remodeling project with Sigma. Sigma always has and will continue to provide an exceptional customer service experience.

The price was good compared to others. They gave us an estimate. They did a follow up on the work they did. They cleaned any mess they made. They were friendly.

We had seen their TV ads and Valpak coupons, so we thought we would get a quote. Their sales representative was very nice and professional. He came on a Saturday afternoon to show us samples, tell us about the company, take measurements, and take pictures of our house. He returned the following Saturday to give us the quote. We thought they might be the highest of the three quotes we were receiving, but we were willing to pay a bit more if we felt they had the best product and skills. "A bit more" meaning $2,000-3,000 more. Well, our jaws dropped when he gave us the quote of approximately $34,500. A few days earlier we received a quote of $16,500 from another contractor. Even more hilarious was that a few days after the Sigma quote we got a price of just over $14,000 from a third contractor, and he even used the exact same Dow insulation panels with the same "R" rating that Sigma uses! The only difference was that Sigma uses Revere brand siding, which apparently has "seamless integration" with Dow insulation panels since they have a partnership. The other contractor uses Alcoa brand siding. Anyway, we thought there was no way Sigma was providing $20,000 more in product and services. When the sales representative called a week later to see how our decision process was going, I told him about the other quote and how they use virtually the same product as Sigma. He didn't go on the offensive and was professional about it for the most part. He said he "understood our frustration", but felt that they are providing a far more superior product and superior services than any other contractor. He also said he thought it was impossible for another contractor do to our job for just over $14,000. Well, he can come over to our house anytime and see the excellent job our contractor did, for just over $14,000! He also said we should check the other contractors' references and make sure we weren't being taken for a ride. When I told him he had received the Super Service Award from Angie's List multiple times, he clamed up. I told the representative that he was very professional during the quote process, and that he was just doing his job, but that the owners of the company really need to rethink their pricing. We still can't believe they were trying to charge that much. Obviously, you are paying for their TV and Valpak advertising costs, and their "partnership" with WTMJ radio & tv. Anyway, for just under $25,000, we did the whole siding & trim job, had a new concrete patio and front walkway poured, had new glass block windows installed, and had some electrical work done. Just having the siding & trim job done by Sigma would have been $10,000 more. It just goes to show you that you need to get multiple quotes, and utilize Angie's List! Well, if you want to overpay by $20,000 or more, go with Sigma. If not, go with somebody else!!!
Description of Work: We received a quote on new vinyl siding, aluminum soffits & fascia, and aluminum gutters for our house and detached garage.

Had 3 windows and an exterior storm door installed in fall 2007. A few finishing issues which I put in writing to them. They were responsive to that and inspected and agreed with my assessment stating not up to their standards. Ordered 11 more windows for install (in the process). Took care of two of the fall issues and will return to finish up outside trim and complete final fall install issues. Clean up was excellent and took care not to damage new plantings in front of house. Have six windows to go and will use Sigma. Explained anything that needed to be done, such as blinds removed and how long to wait before rehang to allow caulk to set.
Description of Work: Needed to have windows replaced in my 80 yr. old house and called several companies for estimate. While Sigma was not the cheapest, they gave you 3 levels of quality of windows, left estimates, were professional and there was no high pressure sales pitch.

After paying the bill for $400 and still having a leaky roof my husband went up there which we probably should have done in the first place and saved ourselves $400, found a space near the dommer, caulked it and so far no more leaking. Now there is inside water damage which must be fixed, tearing down ceiling to replace insulation. I contacted several other roofing contractors and they said that they guarantee their repair work for 90 days and they weren't on Angie's List. Am disappointed as we thought that joining Angie's List would avoid problems like this.
Description of Work: Front porch roof was leaking on a Sunday and they were very cooperative about sending someone out on a Sunday to fix it. The leak was still there. Called again two more times and waited for them to show up which no one did and no one called to let us know they couldn't make it. Finally showed up did some more repair work. Roof was still leaking. I contacted them again to be told that they do not guarantee their repair. If Sigma came out again there would have been another charge which we weren't going to pay. We paid the $400 bill still having a leaky roof.

WE INITIALLY RESPONDED TO A SERVICE CALL IN OCTOBER 2006 AND PERFORMED REPAIRS AT A CHIMNEY. THE CUSTOMER WAS SATISFIED AND WAS CHARGED AT $150.00 BECAUSE OUR ESTIMATOR PERFORMED THE REPAIRS ON-SITE HIMSELF. ON SUNDAY, 8/17/07, AT 8:25 AM, WE RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE CUSTOMER THAT THEY HAD NEW LEAKS AT A PORCH. OUR OFFICE CALLED THE CUSTOMER RIGHT AWAY AND SCHEDULED A SERVICE PERSON TO PERFORM A REPAIR IMMEDIATELY. THE SERVICEMAN PERFORMED TEMPORARY REPAIRS, BUT DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH MATERIALS TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR. WE RETURNED THE FOLLOWING WEEK AND COMPLETED THE REPAIR. ALSO, WE PERFORMED ADDITIONAL FREE REPAIRS (REPAIRED THREE SHINGLES ON A DIFFERENT SECTION) WHERE THE INITIAL INSTALLATION OF THE ROOF WAS FAILING TO TRY TO HELP THE CUSTOMER. THE ROOF IS NOT VERY OLD, BUT THE INITIAL INSTALLATION WAS NOT PERFORMED PROPERLY OR WE WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO PERFORM REPAIRS. WE RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE CUSTOMER ON 9/11/2007 THAT A LEAK WAS STILL THERE. WE SENT THE SERVICEMAN OUT TO PERFORM REPAIRS THAT DAY, BUT THE ROOF WAS TOO WET TO FIX. THESE REPAIRS WERE NOT IN THE AREA THE CUSTOMER PAID FOR. THE CUSTOMER WAS DISGRUNTLED AND DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH. WE THEN GOT A NOTE THEY WERE TAKING THEIR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. WE DID NOT CALL TO FOLLOW-UP BECAUSE THEY ASKED US NOT TO. FACTUALLY, THE CUSTOMER HAD AN IMPROPER ORIGINAL INSTALLATION OR THIS WOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM. THE CUSTOMER SAID THEY FOUND A LEAK AT THE DORMER. WE NEVER SERVICED THE DORMER.

My handyman was going to replace rotted exterior wood by a window, but discovered rot in the sill. I called several service providers for a bid/estimate. Each provider specified the need to replace the entire window, which would cost around $15,000. Sigma, however, suggested as an alternative replacing the wood, filling the gaps with wood hardener, and wrapping the new wood and existing wood with aluminum wrap to prevent future water damage by the windows. It even suggested going with the handyman for the repair and just letting them do the aluminum wrap, which is what I will do.

I contacted the company and they had a representative out to the house the next day. After he went up on the roof and did an inspection, located the problem, and fixed it all within 30 minutes. Very pleased with their response time and work done.
Description of Work: We had a window that was leaking and Jeff from Sigma went up on the roof to investigate. He found that the flashing on the chimney was pulled away and that was where the water was leaking in and running down to the window. He fixed the flashing and caulked and so far the leak has stopped.

WE APPRECIATE THE CUSTOMER’S INTEREST, HOWEVER, WE FEEL IT IS CRITICAL TO MEET WITH EACH CUSTOMER TO REVIEW THEIR OPTIONS. WE FOLLOW THE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES OF THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION, CERTIFIED CONTRACTOR’S NETWORK WHO HAS TAUGHT US THAT WE SHOULD MEET WITH EACH CUSTOMER TO DISCUSS THEIR PARTICULAR CONCERNS, IN ORDER TO AVOID PROBLEMS WITH MISCOMMUNICATION, UNREALIZED EXPECTATIONS, AND UNFORESEEN ADDITIONAL COSTS. ROOFING, SIDING, AND WINDOWS IS EXPENSIVE IN THE FIRST PLACE, SO WE SUBSCRIBE TO THE IDEA THAT MEETING WITH EACH CUSTOMER TO DISCUSS THEIR JOB IS CRITICAL TO ENSURING CUSTOMERS KNOW THEIR OPTIONS AND GET WHAT THEY WANT. THIS CAN PROVIDE CHALLENGES FOR VERY BUSY CUSTOMERS. HOWEVER, IT IS THE ONLY WAY WE KNOW HOW TO ENSURE 100% OWNER SATISFACTION, WHICH IS OUR GOAL. IT IS TOO BAD WE COULD NOT MEET WITH THIS CUSTOMER DUE TO THE COMBINATION OF THEIR SCHEDULE AND THE SCHEDULE OF OUR PROJECT CONSULTANT/ESTIMATOR. IF THE CUSTOMER WOULD HAVE CALLED THE OFFICE REGARDING THIS CONCERN, WE WOULD HAVE ASSIGNED ANOTHER PROJECT CONSULTANT TO GET THEM A THOROUGH AND ACCURATE QUOTE.
