Royal Chimney Service

I called Royal Chimney Service (along with 3 other Chimney Repair firms on Angie's List) to get an estimate to bring my fireplace chimney back into function. i was astonished that I was told there would be a $129 inspection fee. The three competitors that I contacted had no such fee and have agreed to come to my home to inspect my fireplace chimney and provide me with an estimate to bring back into functioning order. I advised the Royal chimney rep that I wouldn't be doing business with them and that I would instead seek out other suppliers from Angie's List.

I called Royal Chimney Sweep yesterday to schedule a chimney cleaning and was given an appointment for the next day (today) with an arrival time window of 2 pm to 4 pm. Chimney Sweep Dave arrived very close to 2 pm. Dave was very professional and kept the work area clean. After thoroughly cleaning the chimney and fireplace, he returned to the roof to do an evaluation of the chimney stack which was in obvious need of some attention....cracks, etc. He took photos of the area which he presented to me along with a work estimate. He clearly explained each item on the estimate. The price seemed to be competitive based on the opinion of a mason I am acquainted with. The entire process took approximately 2 hours. Overall, I was pleased with the service I received.

I liked everything about their service. They explained things very well to me. I remember when I paid it I didn’t think it was outrageously expensive, but I can’t remember what I paid. The flue area is clean. They cleaned up after themselves very nicely. They came on time and got their work done timely.

They are excellent. They do a good job. I can't say enough for them. They clean our chimney every year. They were clean and neat and efficient. It was a major job. They were polite. The wood stove cost about $2000.00 and that's our primary source of heat. We don't use propane anymore. The price was good. The quality was fine. The only snag in the thing was the girl at the office. I think she was new. She just didn't get it right when I called them and they had to make an empty trip out and had to reschedule. I felt really sorry for them. That problem has been resolved. They were very knowledgeable.

They wound up charging me $100 more than the last place I used. The experience was fine, I just was not happy with the price.

They did a great job. They came here and were here until everything was done. They seemed very knowledgeable. We are not using it now as we use the furnace. Their price was reasonable. They had lot of experience and explained everything very good.

They were very good in their communication from scheduling the estimate, to the appointment, and to coming out and doing the work. They would talk to us every step of the way and kind of explain what was going on. Their followup was very good.

They were really good. We had them come out once for fall. They were very professional. They did a good job of keeping it early cleaned, tidy and gave some recommendations. Their price was very reasonable for the job they did.

The technician came to inspect the fireplace and chimney. He found a major issue with the chimney that we were not aware of. I am very glad that I called.

They came out and did a great job. They didn't get dust all over the house. They cleaned up after themselves very well. They were terrific. I had no issues with them. I would definitely call them back again to clean my chimney. Their price was comparable to that of everyone else. Someone else had told me that they had done a really good job at their house. That really sealed the deal for me.

I used them in my previous home years ago. They did a good job. They are an excellent company. I had never had a chimney sweep before. I watched him complete the work and he did a good job. I never went up and looked but I imagine it is okay! I had no complaints about the job and have no9 bad memories. Everything with the company must have been good. I remember the price to be moderate.

The technician told me he wanted to put a cap (a piece of metal) on the chimney to check where the leak was in order to solve the problem. His estimates were several times higher than what I got it done for by another company. After the estimate process, this company emailed me for a follow-up, and I explained to them why I didn't decide to go with their services. They then responded with a letter that sounded like I went with a company that wasn't OSHA-regulated (which they were).

I wanted an estimate for chimney repair for the older home we just purchased. The woman on the phone pressured me into scheduling a chimney sweep in addition to getting an estimate. I had one company come in and give me a free estimate for the job. I called Royal back and asked to cancel the sweep and just keep my appointment for an estimate only. The woman on the phone, who had been very friendly, then handed the phone to another woman who was very rude and told me that I what I wanted was an "inspection," not an "estimate, which would cost over $100. This was completely different than what I had been told when I had agreed to pay for a sweep. I canceled my appointment with Royal and choose to do business elsewhere.

He performed the work exactly as the estimate described.

Company had to cancel our appointed time, but they gave decent notice of it. The service man was on time, professional, friendly and made sure the house remained clean. He provided information about needed repairs without pushing or selling. Efficient use of time. Seems rather expensive for about one hour's work, but it is what they'd quoted beforehand. Overall, well done and we'll have them do the service work suggested (tuckpointing bricks in the back wall of the fireplace).

Workman arrived within the time designated, was professional, and took care to protect the carpeting from dirt. Cleaning and inspection took about an hour. They offer discounts for repeat customers.

They did just fine. The worker that came out seemed uncomfortable with the addition at the top, so he called his manager to come in and help, which made me feel secure.

I think the work that was done by them was fine. They put the camera up the chimney and did the inspection. I thought the pricing was expensive, but when I looked around it wasn?t and I was pleased with the price. The only thing is that they did not do a good enough job explaining all that came with the inspection. They were also very professional.

Very well. They were able to schedule to appointment within 2 weeks. The inspections took only about 10 minutes total, and the sweeping / cleaning of the chimney / fireplace took about 45 minutes. They put down a mat to keep the floor clear and took the ashes with them. The gentlemen (named Del) was professional and even gave us an estimate of how much wood could be burned before another cleaning would need to take place.

They were really good. He was friendly and clean. He is reliable and he called back. I asked him to call back in six months and he did. There was no badgering.

It went very good. The installers, crew and salespeople were all very good. The quality of the products they installed were top-notch. Everything went according to the plan we set up with the company, and the price was reasonable because the new damper in the fireplace is more energy-efficient than the old one was.

They were very prompt in getting here. As far as I know they did a good job. They were very helpful in giving me information to avoid the problem in the future. I would recommend.

I mentioned multiple times in my call the year of my house and that I am most interested in adding a gas liner to the home. The phone call and appointment setting process went well but when the inspector arrived at my home. He could not do any inspection. He told me he needed two people in order to get up on the roof. He looked up the flu for one of the chimney's and didn't think it was a good idea to look in the other due to the cast iron. Then he said they would never recommend using a chimney on a house like mine and wrote me a bill for $130. They could have told me over the phone that based on the year of my house - I couldn't use the chimneys.
