PACKERLAND PAINTING

There were several days of rain which delayed progress, so Rick gave us his word that he would show up on 2 particular Saturdays to make up some time, but then did not show. When asked where he was, he explained the reason he started his own business was so that he did not have to punch a clock. Despite the contract requirement of a WEEKLY draw on the payments, he contacted us after one day of working a particular week and stated that if he was not paid for that day, his guys would stop showing up. Rick often showed up close to noon and then left by 3:30 or 4:00 p.m. On one of the last days on the job, Rick and one of his workers that he hired off the street argued verbally several times, making me rather nervous. These arguments took place on the porch and on the deck of my home, and they knew that I was inside and aware of what was happening. Good work, happy with the end result, but a very unprofessional business owner.

The deal was when we signed the contract we'd give him 1/3 of the price when we signed the contract, 1/3 halfway through the job and 1/3 on completion. Didn't work out that way. We gave them the first 1/3, gave them the next 1/3 before the job was halfway done at his insistence. What he told me was that if I didn't pay him his workers would quit. We paid what we agreed on but we didn't get the job we agreed to. He kept guaranteeing that we'd have a 10-year guarantee. This is less than a year later and the paint is peeling, the paint doesn't match. He won't return phone calls. I saw him working on another house and told him to look at my house and he never came. He apparently put house paint (instead of deck paint) on the deck and it immediately peeled. I did notice that the paint cans mostly didn't have labels on them, even though we paid for high-quality paint. They mostly lost interest after they had finished the north side of the house. They missed areas. It's a lousy job.

I AM EXTREMELY SATISFIED WITH MY EXPERIENCE WITH PACKERLAND PAINTING. FROM HIS BID TO THE COMPLETION OF THE JOB, RICK - THE OWNER - WAS PROFESSIONAL, FRIENDLY AND COMMUNICATIVE. DURING THE BID PROCESS, HE LISTENED TO WHAT I WANTED AND MADE GOOD AND USEFUL SUGGESTIONS. HIS BID WAS VERY COMPETITIVE. HIS EMPLOYEES WERE PROFESSIONAL, HARDWORKING, AND THOUGHTFUL. THE FINISHED PRODUCT IS EXCELLENT. THE COLORS ARE AN EXACT MATCH OF EXISTING TRIM, THE PAINT IS SOLID AND DEEP - THERE ARE NO SPILLS, DRIPS OR SCRAPING RESIDUE ON THE ROOF OR CEMENT AROUND THE HOUSE. THE EDGES ARE CRISP AND CLEAN - THEY DID VERY GOOD WORK, WERE VERY NEAT AND CLEANED UP DAILY. RICK REALLY CARES ABOUT HIS COMPANY AND HIS CRAFT - HIS ENTHUSIASM AND DETAILED EXPLANATION OF THE PROCESS PUT ME AT EASE AND HIS WORK IS OUTSTANDING AND COMES WITH A WARRANTY. I WAS ON VACATION DURING SOME OF THE JOB AND RICK CALLED TO GIVE ME AN UPDATE OF THE WORK. I HAVE NO HESITATIONS IN RECOMMENDING PACKERLAND PAINTING.

WE LIVE IN AN OLDER HOME AND THEY DID NOT PAINT BEHIND THE RADIATOR, THEY DID NOT DO A GOOD JOB PAINTING THE RADIATORS AND PREP BEFORE PAINTING THEM WAS NOT DONE WELL. THE STAINING IN THE DINING HAS AN UNEVEN FINISH. THEY BROKE SEVERAL WINDOWS. THEY HAD TO BE REMOVED TO FINISH THE TRIM. THEY SAID THEY'D FIX THESE THINGS. I HAVEN'T HEARD FORM THEM SINCE AROUND MID MAY.

WHERE DO I START WITH MY COMPLIMENTS? NOT ONLY IS HE GOOD AT WHAT HE DOES, HE'S TRUSTWORTHY, PUNCTUAL AN REALLY TRIES HARD TO MAKE YOU HAPPY, ETC.
