James (the owner) was very helpful and answered all of our questions. He gave us information about rebates available and a list of recommendations for energy saving work. We received a very extensive evaluation report and hand outs on energy saving information. After we had insulation put in, James came back and redid the tests. Wonderful to work with!

Please see service report. This is a wonderful service and Mr. Maleta and his crew performed admirably. In addition to helping me decide how to prioritize my energy improvements (he recommended insulating the house before I install a new furnace), the rebates made it possible for me to have the work done.

Jim was very knowledgeable and professional. I learned alot about my house in general from his visit. He brought his college-aged son along to train him in the business. I would hire his son in the future, too--he was also professional. My husband and I implemented some (couldn't afford to do all) of Jim's suggestions later that year. He came back and reevaluated our house afterwards and helped us get our Focus on Energy refund.

It was an okay experience. There wasn't too much to say about it, but my heating bill did go down as did my natural gas bill. I'm pretty pleased.

Jim was both professional and courteous. He really knew what he was talking about and performed a very thorough inspection of this 110-year old house, from basement to attic. His report was very detailed, but easy to understand. He welcomed questions and explained everything as we went along. Because he's also an energy consultant, he was able to give good advice on the best ways to improve the home's energy efficiency. He was well worth his charge of $290, and I highly recommend him.

I highly recommend Jim. He truely knows what he is doing and takes pride in his work. He responded to my email immediately and we were able to find a day to have the audit done. I truely believe he could charge more than he does. He is worth every penny.

After the initial inspection and the tests, Jim gave me a list of contractors to solicit bids from. I also checked Angie's list for additional info. He also recommemded putting an exhaust fan in the main bathroom, which I did once the insulation job was completed. Jim came back after all was completed for a follow-up audit and found that the contractor had missed a corner in my kitchen. He notified the contractor and he came back and finished the job. All and all a good experience and I received a cash back reward from the state's Focus on Energy program.

Jim did a really great job. After we had done some of those improvements, he came back to check to see and did a report to show us the efficiencies that we had achieved. I have recommended him to other people and would recommend him to anybody.

They take a camera and look around and I ended up getting my attic insulated among other things. It was really worthwhile. They don?t sell you anything, they just go in and do the inspection. My experience with them was great and I am thankful that I did it. They basically tell you what they find but they don?t try to push anything on you. My house is old so it made a big difference when I did the updates.

He provided me with the data from the audit and recommendations on what needed to be done. He also supplied the contact names for contractors who could do insulation work and work that could be done as part of the tax credit. I had the insulation work done, I received my tax credit, and everything was fine. Mr. Maletta came out to confirm that everything was in order and that it did what he said it would do. The price was well worth it.

He was very good. He was very professional and very thorough. He was very good with communication. He was here for 4-5 hours, so the price was decent.

He did an excellent job. He had a very detailed list and was able to get contractors to bid of of the list. They were able to focus their work. He is very good. He also does a report that allows you to get tax credit for the work that is done and also a rebate of some of the cost from WI Energies.

Jim (owner and main worker for NorthStar) is great. He got us our report promptly, it was very detailed, the contractors love it because they know exactly what they are bidding on, and Jim explained it well to me. He responded to a number of emails very promptly and thoroughly. He knows the Focus rebates and is very helpful with the paperwork. I highly recommend Jim and NorthStar. I am a big proponent of energy efficiency, and I think every homeowner (especially of older homes) should have Jim do an assessment. That said, we ended up spending about $8,000 to implement all of Jim's suggestions, after rebates. That includes replacing the furnace and water heater as well as extensive insulation and air sealing and new ventilation fans. We did it all in a few months, but you don't have to. So, jump in, have the assessment done, and get yourself the "to-do" list of energy improvements, and start chipping away. Jim's fee may not seem like much when you realize what really needs to be done to get a house performing the way it ought to. Finally let me note -- our bedroom in the upstairs of our cape cod used to be the coldest room in the house. After doing the work Jim recommended, it is the warmest. Thank you!

They are very good and very thorough. It is not a home inspection, but an energy audit. They come in with machines and check your energy input and output. They even checked my furnace and found that the people coming every year to check the furnace were not doing a good job because I had some carbon monoxide levels that were too high.

It was a great experience - most interesting! We were concerned about high utilities in our 1860's house. We expected that we would need to replace windows, insulate, etc.. The audit goes into great detail examining all areas of the house. The tests are interesting to observe and the information is very valuable. We learned that we do NOT need to replace windows, in fact, there are many other areas we need to work on that will improve our energy costs and we are eligible for $600 in rebates if we have the work performed as recommended by the audit. This is will save us lots of money in the future!

great - it is something everyone should have done

I feel the service was excellent. I knew we had some drafts but did not expect to find as many areas as we did to help reduce our gas/electric bill. We now know where we need additional insulation - and in places I never knew needed it but after feeling the air flow during the blower test it was incredible where we are losing energy. I know when we make the recommended changes we will see a significant reduction in both our heating and cooling costs. We have an 1100 square foot house.

They gave us the report within one week. We have not yet acted on the recommendations, but we plan on it.

Jim was very professional and helpful. It gave us the confidence to choose what to do, and it was great to have someone come back to the house to confirm that things such as the insulation was done correctly. Our house is a lot more comfortable now, and we know what remains to be done for the future. Highly recommended.

Very well. He sent me a letter reminding me of the rebate. I was lazy and had not yet gotten the work done! He explained the work that was done and how it would relate to my energy bills. He was familiar with the company that performed the work and tested & checked all work done. This resulted in a $325 rebate from Energy Star.

Appeared to do a very thorough job, made his recommendations clearly and discussed his findings as he went along with the inspection. It was very clear what kind of work I needed to have done to increase my home's energy efficiency and what the expected payback would be, and he provided excellent references of people who could do the work.

They were excellent. They checked everything involving my home in regards to heating. He also recommended other things that would make my house better.

Jim is a low-key, nice guy; he's punctual and goes about his work quickly and efficiently. He provided valuable information for improving the energy efficiency of our home, although we did not agree with/implement all of his recommendations. He was readily available via phone to answer my many questions throughout the upgrading process, usually in terminology I could understand (if not, I felt comfortable telling him so). I believe this was money well-spent.

HE WAS THERE BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT AND GOT STARTED. WAS VERY THOUGH GOING FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. VERY GOOD AT POINTING OUT THINGS THAT NEEDED ATTENTION AND TIPS FOR PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE.
