We were able to call them and leave the message on the voicemail. They returned the call within 1 hour and they were here the next day to take care of it, so that was nice. Some of my friends didn't get anyone for a few days or response; but Milwaukee-Handyman.com responded quickly. The price was reasonable for the trip charge. The guy did a good job with the repair. He charged $190 for the plumbing work, out of which $30 was for the parts. We paid $80 for the siding repair.
Description of Work: We hired Milwaukee-Handyman.com for handyman work. We had some loose siding and we wanted them to get up on the second floor to fix it. They also did some plumbing work. They put in additional pipe to the washing machine to drain directly from the sink because initially it used to get clogged.

The problem I had was with the handyman who worked for the company and did the unsatisfactory work painting/repainting the porch.. After John (owner) discovered the the problem, he promptly took care o the issues with the paint on the porch.Thank you, John.

The first work that was performed by Milwaukee Handyman was to use concrete to fill a hole in concrete block under the front porch. The job was done promptly, and although I didn't go under the porch to see, I assume it is okay. Then I had Milwaukee Handyman repair and paint the front porch. The work was going along fine; ;however, the steps needed to be painted 3 times. Each time it was painted, it rained and washed off the paint. I then noticed the paint coming off the floor of the porch leaving little white splotches, I asked them to come back and fix or repaint the spots, I was told that I was "wasting their time", and they would charge me an additional $200 to come back again. I said no to the additional charge. He said that the "new" paint did that~~ it is norma to have those spltchesl. Why would anyone use paint that didn't cover and looks as if Jackson P****** splashed white paint on my porch floor?! I feel repped off. I thought it was expensive and unfinished.
Description of Work: !. Fill hole in a concrete block under my front porch 2. Minor repair on my front porch and painting it.

The following letter was sent to John at Milwaukee Handyman on October 1, 2011. It is now November 25, 2011, and I have not received any response. I WILL NEVER USE MILWAUKEE HANDYMAN AGAIN. "Dear John: On July 23, 2011, Mike McCarthy came to my home and gave me an estimate for work to be done, and performed the work originally requested. Three items were added as he was doing the work: replacement of a board that got cracked in removal to view the area under patio door - checking for holes a rodent might get in; When re-installing insulation in crawl space after the holes were filled with concrete and foam, new insulation was used instead of the insulation that was removed to get at the holes. also, once the deck boards were removed to inspect for holes under the deck (part of the original estimate), the board at the bottom of the patio door frame was replaced. Less than five minutes after I called you with my credit card number to pay the $960 bill, I called you back and informed you I thought the bill was too high and to not put the charge through to my credit card. You told me you had processed the payment already, but 'Mike would not be paid until I was satisfied', implying there was a possibliilty of refund in the form of a check from Milwaukee Handyman. On July 28, 2011, I wrote you a detailed email regarding the amount of my bill and concerns that I had. In that email I described what my original estimate was ('net no more than $475; net as low as $450'), and the additional work performed by Mike. Post-marked July 28, 2011 PM, I received a copy of the final billl and payment. It's very difficult to read or understand. It appears that $460 goes to Handyman, but there is an additional $875 labor charge. The written estimate I'd received on July 23, 2011 described 'Labor Requirements' and 'Labor Estimate' again, 'net no more than $475 and net as low as $450.' On 8/2/11, I called you and once again described my concerns and . . . requested you come to my home, review the work Mike had done, and tell me if the cost should've doubled with the replacement of two boards and using clean insulation instead of dirty. You indicated you were very busy the next two weeks, but would try to 'squeeze me in' to check Mike's work. . . Last week, I had foam insulation sprayed into the crawl space where Mike supposedly sealed the holes. When they removed the insulation, there were visible holds to the outside. This week I had another handyman re-cut the router the board on the deck Mike replaced so it would match the other boards. Also, he moved the boards so they were evenly spaced and put screws back where Mike had left holes. (He had not replaced all the screws when he put the boards back.) My final bill, on the high end, should've been $675 - not $960, and that's if the work was done right. Having to hire someone to fix the job shows it was not done well. Your lack of customer service and concern for my satisfaction is distressing. Milwaukee Handyman owes me at least $300. I am writing this letter to give you one last opportunity for service recovery. Your prompt response with my refund would be greatly appreciated. - signed Debra Bartlett"

They always have coupons and we used that to get them. We liked the fact that they had a coupon and the fact that they gave us a free estimate. He was very considerate. He actually wore something like surgical booties when he came into the house to ensure that he didn't bring any dirt into the house, and that was really nice. He was very easy going. We told him what the project was and what our thoughts were and he gave some ideas. He was prompt and on time, and he called to double check earlier in the day that the appointment was still on. All those are little things that mean a lot. He did an awesome job because the raccoons have not come back. He matched up the color and the job looks really good. All these little details added to a good experience. Even the receptionist was really nice when we called to set up the initial appointment. She said that they had got a lot of people and inquired what the job was and I told her. She said that she would contact her people and see how soon they could get somebody close to you and how soon they could come out, and she called us back. It was a very positive experience from start to finish. We would definitely call them again if we have any other small projects that we need to have done.
Description of Work: We had someone from Milwaukee-Handyman.com come and redo the eaves coming out of the side of the house. Raccoons were trying to build a home there and the wood was rotting away.

I’ve used them and I’m satisfied with them. I’ve used them twice and I will use them again. They did very good work. They did it in very good time for the price they said and it was great. They did a good job. They charged me $500 including the paint that they used. They did a good paint job and they cleaned all the windows very well. They fixed some wood on the outside of the picture window. They cleaned both of the picture windows downstairs. They were very good. They finished all of that in one day. They’ve worked for us before and I’m going to call them again. I’ve got their card. I would call them once I need something done. I will use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Milwaukee-Handyman.com. I last used their services may be about three weeks ago. They washed all the upper windows and the two large windows downstairs. They painted part of the garage that was unfinished. They fixed one of the windows downstairs. They fixed some wood on the outside of the picture window. They cleaned both of the picture windows downstairs.

I called for an estimate on Wednesday, they had an estimator out on Thursday and the job was completed Friday. Couldn't have asked for it to go more smoothly. Everyone was professional and on-time... refreshing after dealing with a few other contractors. The concrete/mason contractor was professional and friendly. He arrived on-time and got straight to work. The job was a little on the messy side because of the concrete dust but he did everything he could to minimize it. I'll definitely be calling him again for future work tuck pointing and brick work.

The man showed up without notice. Work was done, but incomplete, the mortar was falling off after a week. Called company, complained. Came back, without a call and just showed up. Problem still was not fixed right. E-mailed company January of 2011, new that the winter was a factor, but as of today has not showed up. Would like the job to get done and done correctly. Please help. Thanks

Dave and his partner were great. Very friendly and professional. The sconce installation looks great, they had to run wiring up the wall of a 1931 house with plaster walls. I can't imagine that was too easy. I would definitely call them again for future electrical work!

I would rate them poor because they never returned my phone call. They didn?t respond at all. I called them to see if they could do the work that I needed done because winter was coming and I needed to get the side of my house closed up. I was very disgusted since they didn?t return my phone call.

They responded to me quickly and had someone over within 2 days to give me an estimate. I thought the estimate was a bit steep, but needed the work done quickly so went ahead and scheduled it. Mike was very pleasant, but was only available after 5-6 pm and wasn't able to start work for at least another week. Everything went fairly smoothly until the repair of the shower curtain bar which ended up being worse than it started. I called him back and after another week he fixed it, however, it still is not right and the drywall was destroyed by him. I need to have someone come and fix it again, but will not have him do it.

We called and got Keith to come out in a very short time to give an estimate. We set the date for the work to be done, and it was done then. He was very professional and clear, and did the work for a reasonable price. We'll have Milwaukee-Handyman back for future needs.
Description of Work: We had a problem with squirrels getting into our eaves, and we also needed a cap for our chimney. First, Keith came, looked at the needs, and gave us a free estimate. We agreed on a date/time for the work to be done. He came at that time and sealed up the holes, explained in detail what he found, and gave us advice on what to do in the future to prevent further invasion. He then told us the roof was too high and steep for him to install the chimney cap. But, he left the cap with us so we can have a roofer do it, and he reduced the extimate by the appropriate amount.

They were VERY quick to respond - which was great! Estimate was very reasonable, and he made good suggestions about the least expensive options for us. He recommended a particular kind of railing from a specific retailer and even called them for me to get their opinion on the best way to proceed. Very nice! When I went to purchase the railing, I found they didn't have the size I needed in stock, so I went to a different home supply store and bought theirs instead. Our contractor was less than thrilled with my "substitution" as he had never installed this (very similar) type of railing. He ended up having to drill extra holes in our concrete because even though his measurements appeared correct when he lined up the railing, they weren't. After installing and then reinstalling it, it was extremely wobbly. Because it's a free-standing railing, I expected a little give, but this was obviously not right. Our contractor said that it was faulty design on the part of the railing manufacturer. After he left, I examined it closer and found that he had not completely tightened down one of the bolts that hold the flanges in place. I contacted the company and they sent him back out to tighten it the next week. He did and now it's okay. We still have extra holes in our concrete, but it's not the end of the world. Also, I would prefer that people not smoke while doing work on my home - even when it's outside. I would probably use this company again for other kinds of work.
