He was quick and came out they day after I called. They had a reasonable price.

There was a 10-year warranty on the transmission and the whole thing came out. They told us that the part was under warranty and the new part that they brought didn’t fit. It was defective. He ordered another one and gave us a call. That one was defective too. He went back to the supplier and took the original one that was defective and said they would bench test it. It turned out that all the parts in that stock were defective, and they couldn’t fix it. He was really disgusted. He said if we had ordered a new one then we could always approach them with our sales receipt and have our money refunded if any problems arose. They said they could deliver it on a Saturday and haul the old parts away. The repairman was an authorized Maytag Service mechanic. He was very good. We went back to get our price changed and they said we would have to wait for the text to clear, and that it would take ten days. They said they couldn’t refund the amount for 10 days. The repairman said that never in his 40 years had he run into a situation like that one. They said they could give us a 15 percent refund if we purchased another Maytag product. So I sent them an email and called them to buy a washer. Yesterday they verified that they had gotten the email and we got a refund. The repairman didn’t charge us anything. He was excellent and had listened to me. The quality of the washer so far has been good.

MAYTAG RESPONDED WITHOUT UNDUE WAITING. THEY WARNED ME THAT THE LOCK MECHANISM WAS EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR, WHICH I ACCEPTED. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED. I CHOSE NOT TO CALL THEM BACK, BECAUSE I FEARED IT WOULD BE ANOTHER LABOR CHARGE AS WELL AS COST OF MATERIALS. I DIDN'T TRUST THEIR ABILITY TO CORRECTLY DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM.
