 + -1 moreKWK was great. They got the job done, reasonably priced, done in a timely manner. Tom worked during some of the hottest and muggiest days of the summer. It rained on him both days. Nonetheless, Tom handled the elements well, performed the work. He had to come a little late on the first day since it was a downpour earlier in the day, but he worked until about 7pm the first day to try to may up time. I would definitely use KWK for any electrical work. There was a lot of used and uneeded wire coatings, caps, and general debris that was left behind when after the work was done, especially outside.
Description of Work: I had 60 AMP Service coming into my home, I needed to upgrade it to bring it to code and to get A/C installed

He also took plenty of time to look at a few other projects we were considering around the house. He was friendly and punctual, and the quality of the work was excellent.  + -1 moreI called KWK in the morning and the gentleman told me that he could have someone over to look at my job that day at noon. The service man (sorry, I can't remember his name) arrived at 12:00 on the nose. He took a look at what I wanted done and then gave me a thorough explanation of their rates and an estimate of how long it would take. He was able to go right to work and he finished the job in about an hour and a half. It wasn't a real complicated job but I was very happy that they were able to do it so quickly.
Description of Work: I removed a wooden storage area from my basement and I needed to have some wires and an outlet relocated so that I could completely remove the walls of this storage area.

I was able to get the work done within three days of accepting the estimate. John and his helper Ben arrived on time, worked quickly and left everything in great shape. The price was exactly as estimated. The process was a positive experience from start to finish.

 + -1 moreThey came the same day, and worked around my schedule. The electrician didn't have a part in his van, so it took a bit longer than expected. He explained everything, assured me that the fix would solve the problem completely. He kept the labor cost to a minimum by breaking the hour into quarters, and it took less than a full hour, so this saved us some money.
Description of Work: We had a ground-fault outlet that kept tripping. We didn't know if it was a problem or not, or whether it was a potential hazard. I can replace an outlet, but I didn't know what was causing this, and what else might be involved. Decided to call in a professional.

 + -1 moreI found him initially on the list. They were knowledgeable. They showed up when they said they would; I didn't have to wait for them to come, because they didn't have a backlog. They were pretty quick to respond. On the last visit, I feel like I paid them a little more than I should have. He did have to go up in the attic to do some of the work. I wondered if he actually needed to do that.
Description of Work: He put in three or four outlets in a bedroom. We have used them on three occasions.

 + 0 moreI walked into the office and asked for an estimate. I was immediately given a flashlight for coming into the office. An electrician met me at my house a half hour later. An estimate was given verbally and followed up by a mailed estimate a few days later. I stopped into the office again to make the down payment and was given a box of cookies. The electrican arrived on time and completed the work on time in a very satisfactory method. I paid him after he finished, but other then a job well done, didn't get any more freebies.
Description of Work: I needed a outlet box installed for the ignition on a stove and a dedicated curcuit for a microwave oven that I want to install. In addition I need a switch box lowered from it's original location.

It was a difficult job, but, he was able to think it through and complete it. I thought his price was also very reasonable. He also gave me his cell phone number to get in touch if I needed some work done.

Description of Work: Ben came and fixed some romex wiring, rewired a basement light, moved and replaced outlets, changed outside outlets to GFIs, and put overhead fan grade ceiling boxes in four bedrooms. He also hung the four fans we had purchased.

 + 0 moreTwo people came out and one was in training, and then when we looked at the bill, we were charged labor for both of them. It was certainly a job that one person could have done. They had to go to the store to buy the light fixtures and we were charged time for that also. I felt that the electrician could have worked more quickly and that the price was a bit high.
Description of Work: We had a light fixture outside that was sparking and one of the components of it had burned out. I used KWK Electric to replace the entire light canister outside.

 + -1 morePrompt estimate. I was told at the time of the estimate that additional work might be required which could not be determined until work began, and that was OK with me. Work was done promptly and as specified. Additional work required was billed hourly at a reasonable price. Contractor employee was present for municipal electrical inspection. One fixture failed after a month or two. KWK sent the original electrician back to fix the problem at no additional cost.
Description of Work: Installed multiple exterior fixtures and associated wiring.

While the work was being performed, they went out of their way to make the necessary power outages more convenient to my tenants. I'm no expert, but from what I can tell, the quality of the work is excellent. They even came in below estimate!
Description of Work: I had the service on my 4plex upgraded to 100 amp. This involved replacing fuses, relocating the meters, installing master shut off switches, etc. I also had some sketchy wiring in the garage redone properly and two lights installed.

Description of Work: I've used this group on three occasions. Once to run a new appliance outlet for a stove (where a gas stove had been before) and twice to trouble shoot electrical problems in a 120 year old house. The addition of extra outlets and balancing the load a bit better has solved the problem.

Description of Work: I had them replace a lighting fixture in the bathroom. Old house, and for some reason the original fixture was installed on the shower wall (! -- bad idea). I believe they did a couple of other things, too, I can't recall.

 + -1 moreJohn came and gave me an estimate for the work and did a great job of explaining exactly what needed to be done and what the difficulties might be. It took a little longer to schedule to have the work done because he wanted to come with a second electrician so that it could be completed in one day, which I appreciated. The electricians showed up right on time, did the job exactly as I wanted and finished faster than expected. He even charged me $300 less than his original estimate. I would absolutely use KWK again as everyone was very courteous and professional, the job was done very well, and the price for the work was fair.
Description of Work: John came with another electrician and installed 6 new electrical outlets in the house and one new outlet in the garage. Some of the outlets were in locations that were challenging to run wire as the electricians had to work around the foundation of the house to run wire and around my fireplace.

 + -1 moreI called them again and they told me they would not honor a warranty nor would they come back. The ceiling fan cannot be used because it is too unsafe. I contacted the handyman's boss, asked if he could come back and look at it, and he told me no. I contacted the store where I bought the ceiling fan and they also said no.
Description of Work: I contacted the owner of the company, Ken. I told him that I had a ceiling fan and the chain came out of the hole. I told him I needed a new switch put in. This would be the 2nd time the switch had been replaced. He told me I needed to buy a new ceiling fan, and he guaranteed that he could purchase and install a ceiling fan for $46. On June 27th, they came out, removed the ceiling fan, and hung the new one. Michael did not finish the job, but instead instructed another handyman how to install the fan. The handyman didn't know what he was doing and installed the fan crooked. I've since contacted KWK Electric to send the electrician back to do the job properly, I was told no, they would not come back.

 + 0 moreI was pleased with the work that was done. The electrician they sent was nice and personable and willing to explain what he was doing. He spent some amount of time troubleshooting what the problem was, but after he figured it out he was able to fix it fairly quick. He ended up replacing four light switches and he was on the job for about and hour and twenty minutes. I thought the price was reasonable, but I did not like KWK's travel charges. They charge the customer travel time from wherever the electrician is coming from to your location. I think this is odd and a little unfair to the customer.
Description of Work: I had a hallway light and switch that was not working. I had attempted to fix it myself, but due to my lack of knowledge of the old wiring in my home I was unsuccessful. I called KWK and they scheduled someone to come out a day or two later. They ended up calling and canceling on the scheduled day because the electrician who was assigned to my job was sick. They were able to rescheduled me with someone else the next day.
