KNAUER PLUMBING HEATING & COOLING INC

Our home was a 2" victim of basement flooding in the huge storm of 7/22/2010. We were less affected than most--our neighbors got 7-8". But we realized the next night (Friday night) that our water heater was affected. Knauer has been our plumber, though most of our issues up until now were minor. They had to replace the water heater. We could have waited until Tuesday, but opted for a Sat. morning installation. It cost over $1,500--which I think is extremely high. The practice of weekend pricing premiums ("overtime") for tradesmen should be banned, OR good companies should consider waiving it for urgent situations like these, at least for regular customers who don't "shop" per project. Knauer is excellent in terms of service, reliability, professionalism and technical competence, but their pricing seems very high, and I intend to "test drive" a different contractor for my next plumbing/heating/cooling job.

I swear by them. They are wonderful. They always do a very thorough job. They inform me. They are a union shop and they are not the cheapest, but I think they are the best. It is worth the money because I get good quality service. I think the price is fair given the fact that they have high quality union people. I think they are worth what they charge me. When it comes to plumbing and heating I want high quality people. They always are here when they say they will be. I use them all the time.

It is appreciated that they were able to come out on a holiday. However, the grand total estimate for the work outlined was $3566.00. This seemed high to us, so we obtained an estimate from another company, and ended up paying $750.00 total for the work. Buyer beware. Always get more than one estimate.

They come when they say they are going to. They have been good guys. They are professional, and the quality is fine. They were very neat and tidy.

I called immediately and they advised the original quote by phone didn't include installation but I know it did. I'd acutally received a breakdown of the water heater cost and installation separately which equalled $1100. I've had no response from them after they said they have the woman call me back that gave me the original quote... but she never did. I'm still waiting on that call. In the mean time I called the BBB.

The quality of work is good. Their price is usual for the area but I think they are too expensive.

Service was thorough. Technician was very good at identifying the problems and explaining the issues, the solutions, and the preventive measures to use in the future.

I have been using this company since 1964. I inherited them with the house we bought. They moved with us when we went to a different house. They are very reliable and dependable. They always clean up after themselves. They are there within the hour when they can be. They have very reasonable prices. I have never had a problem with Knauer. I pay for the loyalty and I will continue to see them in the future.

They still have repair people who know how to work on older equipment, and the valve was replaced that same day. Replaced old Mercury thermostat with programmable one which has proved very useful.

I think they have wonderful services I really like them. They are professional, on time, and I don't think their prices are as high as others. They are very accommodating.

My broken dishwasher had originally been hooked up improperly by previous owners so that it bypassed the release vent. I am not replacing it yet because I'm redoing the entire kitchen in a few months. But the incorrect hookup meant that water backed up into my dishwasher sometimes when I ran the garbage disposal. I didn't notice it when the dishwasher worked, as it drained when I ran it. The village inspector was here for something else, looked at it and told me about the incorrect hookup and suggested I get it hooked properly to get rid of the smelly water. When the plumber was here, he told me it would cost me more, and require a permit to do that. But he told me I could just cap off the old dishwasher, achieve the same result, not have to pull a permit and pay half as much! Good for him for letting me know about the cheaper and more logical option!

Fabulous. Arrived when scheduled, early enough for me to get to work. I was able to schedule well in advance, to better fit my schedule.

A Knauer employee made an emergency visit, opened up a wall (drywall) and isolated the burst pipe so the water could go back on (all water had been shut off). He returned later to replace the section of pipe and discussed options to avoid future frozen pipes.

They are always dependable, reliable, professional, and they always do a good job. Their prices aren't low, but they are worth it for dependable work that they back.

Have done a fine job of keeping our 26 year old furnace in great running order.

The pluming system in our home is over 80 years old and Knauer does an excellent job of working with older systems like ours.

Kevin, the plumber, was on time, explained my options completely, but didn't have the needed faucet on his truck. A new appointment was arranged immediately, and he completed the job in a timely manner. He was polite, competent, knowledgeable and also answered questions I had about my boilers. I've used Knauer's services before and they have always gone out of their way, to accommodate my needs in a timely manner. On one other occasion, they made an emergency call, when my kitchen faucet had a problem right ,before I was expecting dinner guests.

I think his price was way too high for the work. He charged almost $100 per faucet! One of them wasn't even that bad. He didn't tighten some washers that I asked him to. He didn't seem very knowledgeable, and had to keep calling back to his office to see what he needed to do. I should have just had my husband.

This was an emergency-type situation, as the blower was about to go and it was winter and obviously needed the blower to heat the house. They came promptly, at the time they said they would so that someone was not needed to wait around all day for the repair person to arrive and do the work. The work required a return visit to address a water leaking problem coming from the furnace, but it took only fie minutes. Problem was they charged me $138 for the visit, which I felt was related to the original work they did. Regardless, I got what I needed when I needed it with a minimum of problems.

THEY WERE SOME DELAYS IN GETTING SCHEDULED, AND RE-SCHEDULED! THEY WERE PROMPT ABOUT CALLING US TO LET US KNOW THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO SHOW UP. WE HAD ALREADY TAKEN THE TIME OFF OF WORK. WHEN THEY ARRIVED, THEY WERE MISSING ONE PART. THEY WANTED TO MAIL IT TO US TO INSTALL IT OURSELVES. THE JOB THAT THEY DID WAS GOOD AND THEY WERE ALWAYS COURTEOUS.

CHECKED FURNACE. REPLACED FILTER IN APRILLAIR HUMIDIFIER. COURTEOUS. DIDN'T SHOP AROUND SO CAN'T TESTIFY TO COMPETITIVENESS OF PRICE. OFFERED $40 DISCOUNT FOR HAVING WORK PERFORMED BEFORE THE END OF SEPTEMBER.

KEVIN WAS PROFESSIONAL AND DID A GOOD JOB, HOWEVER HE WAS LATE. HE DID CALL AHEAD, HOWEVER I HAD TO STAY IN ALL AFTERNOON FOR A JOB THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETED BY 1PM.

VERY, VERY TRUSTWORTHY AND THEY GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO MAKE YOU HAPPY. I HAVE USED THEM FOR AT LEAST 15 YEARS.
