We received a call to offer us a free carpet cleaning from Kirby referred to us by some friends. Kirby never mentioned trying to sell us a vaccuum cleaner on the phone, just that we could receive 2 carpeted rooms to be cleaned for free. They told us the name of the man who was going to be coming to do the job. The person who arrived was not who they said it was going to be. It was a woman and she brought in the vaccuum cleaner to show us all it's features. We really liked the vaccuum cleaner so after having to negotiate a price (there was no set price) we decided to purchase a Kirby. However the salesperson had to go outside and talk to her boss about it first and she also had to have a cigarrette! She then cleaned our carpets. In the process, she spilled the carpet shampoo on our brand new laminate floor. She asked for a rag but left the rag on the floor. Therefore, part of the floor got ruined. When we confronted the saleswoman about it, she denied that the shampoo could ruin the floor. We even had the company that installed our floor, evaluate it. They determinded that it had gotten damaged by the shampoo as well. It took several phone calls to have Kirby accept that they were at fault. The 'boss' was going to come in and inspect it as well but he forgot and didn't show up that day. We made another appointment for him to come in but instead he sent a new employee who hadn't even been working with them for one year (and isn't working with them anymore) to come and inspect it. He had to call the 'boss' once he saw it because he didn't know what to do. He ended up giving us free shampoo and they were going to give us free vaccuum bags as wells but he didn't have any with him. The whole process began on 7/8/11 and it is now 2/24/12. We haven't received any vaccuum bags yet and they haven't done anything about our floor. Yesterday we called to get our bags and the saleswoman said she was coming after 5:30pm and she never showed up. My husband called and she didn't even apologize but just said how she didn't have anything written that they owed us bags. My husband also has to go to their office to pick up the bags today. Kirby has horrible customer service! In order to get vaccuum bags, you have to call a representative and they never show up! It is not convienent and you end up waiting for people who don't show up! Nobody their wants to take responsiblity for their actions or be professional enough to show or even show up on time! I would never recommend them to anybody. The bummer is, it is a great product and long lasting but not worth the trouble of having to deal with the salespeople that work there. Don't even think about getting it because you will be in for having to deal with them for long time (because the vaccuum cleaners are long lasting)!
Description of Work: We purchased a vaccuum cleaner from Kirby/ K-Turbo and they also cleaned two of our carpets for free.
