About us

Our company began in 1994 with a simple idea: provide our community with a trustworthy partner in home improvements. We had seen too many neighbors, friends and family members give their trust, time and money to "fly-by-night" contractors who let them down, performed substandard work or even left town with their hard-earned money. After working in the trades for years Jeff Bartelt saw that, even in the best companies he'd worked for, there was a lack of attention to detail and often the simplest solution was overlooked in favor of sales. He saw a need in the local market for someone who would put the customer's best interest at the heart of every decision, and so JJB Home Improvements was founded. That's still our philosophy today. We know you love your home. Something drew you to it and even if it was only a choice of convenience, your home is special to you. We want to help you make it the best it's ever been, so you can enjoy it now, save money on energy and future repairs, and retain the highest possible resale value for when the time comes. We have made a long-term commitment to the Greater Milwaukee community and we stand behind our work. We look forward to serving you! Uses only properly vetted and certified subs. Description of Work: Basement rec room finished with chair-rail and paneling on lower wall, drywall on top half of wall, with cabinet for TV and games. Work done well. Crew cleaned up project. Minor issues resolved regarding painting of stairwell, which JJB did complete.

Description of Work: We had used this company satisfactorily before and we had a signed contract in October for roof heating coils to be installed; and the company had the 50% deposit check. I called and emailed to get verification of when they were going to do the work. I kept being told they were working it in and would get back to me. Finally, we had our first snow and I began to believe I would never see the work done. So, I searched for other Angie's list contractors and then left another voice and email with JJB. Heard nothing back. Then, I informed them I would be working with someone else and wanted my check back. THEN, I heard from them. They told me they couldn't do the work after all, apologized and sent me a fruit basket. Now I have lost two months and we are into the winter season. I am appalled at this treatment and extremely disappointed in a company I respected. We were treated very, very badly. I think if you are on Angie's List this type of behavior is grounds for removal from the list.

WHEN THE MEMBER CALLED BACK TO SAY SHE WAS HAPPY WITH OUR WORK AND WANTED TO HIRE US AGAIN, WE WERE UNDERSTANDABLY THRILLED- IT'S WHAT WE BUILD OUR BUSINESS ON- CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. WE DID INFORM HER THAT OUR SCHEDULE WAS FULL AND WE DIDN'T KNOW WHEN WE COULD GET TO HER JOB. SHE SAID SHE UNDERSTOOD THAT, AND SAID SHE WOULD RATHER HAVE US DO IT, AND SO PREFERRED NOT TO LOOK FOR SOMEONE AVAILABLE SOONER. WE TOLD HER IT MIGHT NOT BE FOR A COUPLE MONTHS. SHE INSISTED ON WAITING AND EVERY TIME (EXCEPT FOR THIS LAST TIME), WE TOLD HER "NOT YET, NOT SURE HOW SOON" SIMPLY DUE TO CHANGING DEADLINES OF JOBS THAT HAD BEEN BOOKED AHEAD OF HERS. WE WERE CLOSE TO DOING HER WORK (GUTTER CABLES), BUT DIDN'T HAVE A PRECISE TIME FOR HER, AND SO WE DID FAIL TO CALL BACK THIS LAST TIME. WE APOLOGIZED TO HER FOR EVER PROMISING WE COULD DO THE WORK WHEN OUR SCHEDULE REALLY WAS ALREADY FULL. WE SHOULD NEVER HAVE LET HER INSIST ON WAITING. WE DON'T LIKE TO EVER KEEP A CLIENT WAITING. IT'S AN UNFORTUNATE AND ISOLATED INCIDENT. WE WISH HER THE BEST OF LUCK.

NO MORE BOUNCE. CLEAN JOB!!
Description of Work: WE HAVE AN OLDER HOME ON WHICH THE OLD FRONT PORCH HAD BEEN ENCLOSED TO BECOME AN EXTRA ROOM. THE FLOOR WAS BECOMING 'BOUNCY' AND CRITTERS WERE GETTING UNDER THE ADDITION. JEFF INSTALLED AN ACCESS DOOR UNDER THE AREA, POURED CONCRETE TO KEEP THE CRITTERS FROM BURROWING IN, AND REINFORCED AND INSULATED THE FLOOR.

Description of Work: I WAS REALLY HAPPY WITH THE WORK THAT DAVE DID. WE HAD A HOLE IN OUR ROOF FROM A LIGHTNING STRIKE - THEY CAME OUT ON THE DAY WE CALLED, DID ALL THE WORK AND ALSO HELPED US OUT WITH A FEW OTHER THINGS. I WOULD DEFINITELY CALL THEM AGAIN.

THE JOB WAS BEGUN IN EARLY NOVEMBER AND COMPLETED IN EARLY DECEMBER THROUGH SOME DIFFICULT WEATHER CONDITIONS. PROTECTION AND CLEAN-UP WERE ONGOING AND THOROUGH. CARE WAS TAKEN TO DO THE JOB ACCORDING TO THE HIGHEST STANDARDS, AND AT THE LEAST EXPENSE.
