This job was originally due to be started several months later, but when the old garage door broke (again), they easily moved up the date quickly. Most "next steps" were communicated to us well. An exception was the subcontracted electrical, who didn't keep us informed of times they were coming and needed access to the house. But overall the company did what they said they'd do in the alloted time. The salesman/project manager (Jerry) was very responsive to my questions and when little mistakes were made, he quickly "made them right".

I had an intermittent problem with my garage door not closing. When making my initial call Sean was very helpful in describing the possible causes and how they would approach the problem. He gave me a minimum price ? the trip fee ($79) ? and the maximum fee ? replacing the garage door opener ($299). When Gary arrived the door was working fine! He inspected the door and opener then cleaned and adjusted the safety sensors. He said he did not want to replace something that was not broken. He told me if the problem reoccurred to call and he would return to replace the sensors. There would be no trip charge, I would only be charged for the new sensor

The representative was professional and knowledgeable. He gave a good faith estimate and outlined the process from start to finish. After the contract was signed a new Plat Survey had to be done. The one on record at the courthouse was 70 years old. This was unanticipated. The building permit had to be approved by the Village Architectural Review (ARC) Commission. This was anticipated and the representative sent an alternate from JD Griffiths to present to the ARC. The ARC was very "intrusive". They changed the design, the materials of the garage to make it more expensive and less durable. The ARC is like a court of law. You have to have a "lawyer"/ architect to be able to "debate" with them. The representative and I put our heads together. After listening to the ARC I redesigned a part of my house to match the original materials to be used on the side of the garage. When we represented to the ARC, four weeks later, the design was approved. The work itself was very professional and timely despite snow and freezing cold. After the driveway was replaced and cured the garage was built, with appropriate delays for several snow storms. The original contract was signed July 17, 2008 but by the time of the delays with the plat and the ARC work did not begin until November. This was not J D Griffiths fault. The Garage and driveway were completed on Jan 15, 2009. The final building permit inspection was done Jan 21, 2009. The building was nor approved because of some minor construction to code that needed to be done and the final garage was not the same design as submitted to the ARC. The garage door was off center and the original design had the door centered. The ARC did not accept J D Griffiths response as to why the final building did not match the design. The ARC wanted J D Griffiths to completely redo the front of the garage to match the original design. This was despite my written and verbal statements saying I accepted the off centered door. The decision of the ARC was appealed to a Review Board and the ARC's decision was overturned. The garage permit was approved on May 16, 2009, ten months after the project was started. The appeal of the ARC required additional funds which J D Griffiths shared with me. This was not a part of the contract but the fair thing to do.

I called on a Monday and asked if they could come Tuesday afternoon. They said yes and that they would call before coming. They called at 7:30am (a little early!) on Tuesday and asked if they could come in the morning instead. I said yes and we agreed on 9am. They came and did their work very neatly and left.

Very professional and timely. Had no problems from start to finish. They did a great job, and installed a quality Genie garage door opener. Great to work with.

This company is great. We were treated well and would not hesitate to call them again.

This company only quoted me on this project, I didn't keep them. The worker that came out seemed to know what he was talking about and he was polite.

My experience went very well. They were efficient and thorough. They had contractors and they were all on the ball. They were on time and price was what he said it would be. They cleaned up.

They are really good. They showed up when they said they would. The tech who came was professional and on time. He wasn't pushy and it was a good experience overall. They have very competitive pricing.

I felt comfortable with JD Griffiths from start to finish. The individual who came out to give me the estimate was very professional and knowledgeable. He helped me with dealing with the village board who was giving me some trouble before the work began. When the work started, it was done quickly and efficiently. I have been completely happy with the work ever since.

The father and son team that did the carpentry, roofing and siding were wonderful. They pointed out potential problem areas and recommended fixes. The only glitch we had was the garage door installer who was bossy and demanding.

Great experience with the salesperson. Installer came when scheduled and did a great job - even rehung the garage door opener higher so my husband wouldn't hit his head on it! They also replaced a garage door and installed a garage door opener at a previous residence - great customer service both times. I wouldn't even think to call another business for anything related to garage doors.

Great work! That's all I can say about this company. I figured they were going to send a few guys to do the work, but only one came. That man was Wally. He was on-time and got right to work. He ran into some complications (due to the original construction of my garage), but worked through them and got the job done in one day. When the garage door opener was acting up after he left, he came back the day after a call to the office. He fixed the misaligned safety sensors (no extra charge) and it has worked perfectly ever since. The door looks like it has been there since the garage was built. Fantastic work! I would not hesitate to hire them again!

It was good. I called them in the morning and they were out that afternoon. They were friendly and professional. They were proficient. He even lubed up the rollers on the garage door for me.

Our electric garage door failed to open and was nearly impossible to raise manually. We requested an estimate to fix it and it was scheduled promptly (I think the next day). The service desk called prior to coming to remind us and then called again to say the serviceman could come earlier if we approved - we agreed. He fixed the electric failure and replaced the broken spring. As a fail-safe action, I wanted the door to be made capable of manual operation also, so he installed a handle with a lock and showed us how to choose either mode. I liked the ease of the manual operation so much, I decided to use that as my primary mode of opening it! He was very informative, polite, efficient and charged a very reasonable fee for his time.

Our repairman, Gary, arrived at the appointed time and had the whole job done in just a little over one hour. He was pleasant and worked quickly and efficiently. He took the time to explain some of the mechanism I had asked about. This is the fourth time in about 15 years I have used JD Griffiths service, with three different repair men. Each time the experience has been a good one. The price was reasonable.

No problems. They were punctual and the price was reasonable.

They were prompt and courteous. Steve Carr was great to work with. The prices for the door I needed to match had just gone up, but he located the doors at the old price. The workmanship was excellent. I had an old fairly small car in the stall they were working on that I couldn't move. They worked around it. They cleaned everything up and hauled away the old doors. I was extremely pleased and would hire again in a heartbeat.

They were GREAT! Came exactly when they said the would, were efficient and FAST.

The quote was in line with others estimates we had done. The quality of work is great and the work men cleaned up the area when they were done. The quote did not specify if painting the trim was included and I assumed it was (my error) but when I called to ask about this I left a message and my call was never returned. I later saw on the back of the quote in the pre-printed text that painting was not included so it is my fault for not seeing that, but I was annoyed that my call was never returned.

The repairman called me a little earlier than the appointment time, saying he was available and in the area. I told him no one was home, but he could feel free to pry open the door and do whatever he needs to do. He called me an hour later and said it was fixed at the price quoted.

This company did such a great job! They had to come back because when they were building the garage it was snowing and the electrical work could not be done at that time. They made sure to clean up all of the debris and worked to complete the job in only a couple of days. I was very impressed with the work.

This company made sure to make me feel comfortable with the quality of their work. They answered all of my questions and explained to me that if anything went wrong, they would come right back and fix it for me. I was very pleased and would recommend them to anyone.

Bob Griffiths was very professional, and came quickly for an estimate and again when were ready to sign the contract. He handled all of our questions and returned calls promptly. The work was performed on schedule and to our satisfaction. The only issue was with the installation of the windows. We ordered them as directed (JD does not order windows - they ask you have them new and in the box) and they came in the day JD Griffiths did the siding. JD never told us when the siding was being done, or how long it would take, or what day the windows needed to be there. Turns out the siding goes up in one day. We had the windows the next day, but it took about a week (and many calls) to get them to come back to install the two windows and finish the siding. When we got the bill we were charged a $95 return trip fee. Communication once the build started was much more difficult.

I called on Tuesday and they said they would send someone out on Thursday. Gary came to my home Thursday morning and completed the work. The garage door works pretty good now.
