Excellent. They designed a great looking garage. They went to the Village meeting to get the plans approved. They did the job on time. Excellent quality. If you live in Whitefish Bay, there is no need to look anywhere else for a new garage.

Had to file BBB complaint to resolve $2,300 up-charge. Settled for only paying half of the up-charges. Would not ever use this company again. They subcontract out most of the work and there were multiple issues with the subcontractors on my property.

After the original company that installed the operator didn't show up for over a week, I called JD Griffiths and they came out promptly the next day. The original installer had recommended replacing the opener, but the JD Griffiths service tech evaluated it, found nothing wrong with it except for the severed wire. The wire severed when the door operated because the original installer did not run the line in the proper location and did not secure it. The JD Griffiths tech replaced the wire, cleaned up the installation, lubricated the door mechanisms and was finished promptly. He was very professional and knowledgeable.

This went terribly. It's June 2017 and we're still hating the driveway poured in 2014--it has MAJOR pitting and scaling issues ever since the first winter. When I called our contact at JD Griffiths in early 2015 when I noticed the scaling and pitting,someone came to look at it. Their response was something like "Well, that's just how concrete is sometimes; it's luck of the draw!" A too bad-so sad response. We are VERY dissatisfied.

They are exceptional, they did more than they bargained for, and they did a beautiful job matching everything.

Came within hours of calling and did the job within days. Efficient, neat. Would hire again. Hopefully won't need to replace for a long time!

Very professional and with precision

We really enjoyed working with J.D. Griffiths and especially our sales rep, Jerry Kiefer. From our initial meeting to the final inspection, he was very responsive and helpful along the way. For the initial estimate, after asking a few questions about our needs and taking some measurements, Jerry was able to sketch out a design and walk us through his estimate within about a half hour. The estimate shared a We took a few days to think and then had him back to sign the contract. Since our garage is located very prominently on our city lot, we wanted to add some touches to add to its character and to match our house. Looking through the gallery on their site and working with Jerry - we were able to add some nice feature. These included a small window, shake-style shingles and a brick beltline. We also were interested in having skylights installed; which they also installed for us, just asking that we purchase them on our own and have them ready for the builders. We're extremely pleased with how everything turned out and would enthusiastically recommend them!

It took longer to build the garage then I was originally told and it wasn't because of bad weather. The biggest problem is a crack that developed in the concrete and it runs the entire length of the garage. This developed six months after the garage was complete. I had the representative look at it and he said he had no idea why it happened but there was nothing that could be done about it. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with it but I pointed out to the construction people that immediately after the concrete was poured and cured there was standing water in one corner which happens to be on the side where the cracked developed. I was told the standing water was not a problem.

I highly recommend J D Griffiths.. Bob Griffiths came out and provided a detailed estimate. The company did renderings, went before the WFB Village architectural review committee for approva (the village said it was going to be a very beautiful garage), and supervised the construction. He recommended a garage door style that I was unsure about at first, and it is gorgeous and adds a lot of character to the garage. AT the last minute, I decided to add coach lights on either side, and was able to work directly with the electrician without markup from JD Griffiths. I was kept well informed throughout the process and everything went smoothly and in a timely fashion. The new garage is beautiful, and I have received many compliments on it.

While I have a well-built garage from a carpentry point of view, this company and I will be going to arbitration over $ 3200 to $ 4000 of additional costs their actions and non-actions caused. They built the garage from 8 to 12 inches above grade. This required the drainage and walk plans to be changed requiring additional landscape work and fill. Bob Griffith lied saying the Village required the elevation raise. They told him it was one possibility. He never discussed elevation and raising the slab above grade with me. This decision was driven by the cheapest solution for the garage builder. Less excavation was required. He gave me double talk saying if the slab was built at grade extra block walls would be needed. This explanation only came after the concert was poured. Elevation was never discussed. The plans he drew on the contract had specific locations for the doors. The builders ignored it when they poured the slab. While the people service door could be corrected by cutting one of the rebars there was no reasonable, structural integrity maintaining solution other than cutting and patching the concrete curb to correct the mistake for the location of the auto garage. At his suggestion I had to hire my own electrician. I paid extra to have some bushes removed with the understanding the root balls would be left for an artist friend. Not all stumps discussed were removed and none of the items were left. I was required to pay for extra gravel. However, this was placed all over the back yard beyond where the drive would be. It was simply to facilitate their equipment. As a permeable drive and drain system was going in a different substrate foundation was needed. Although Bob agreed to remove the gravel he did not answer the email in a timely manner that stated the concern about coordinating the schedule and offered an alternate proposal. In emails to try to resolve the matter Bob consistently returns to the addition of a down spout required by the Village which I have repeatedly have said is not an issue. We have been emailing back and forth for weeks. He refuses to discuss enumerated issues and keeps referring to nonissues. There has been absolutely no acknowledgement of any problems or wrong doing. Some of his statements have been laughably off base. While the company did good planning and coordination of materials their communication was average and resolution has been abominable.

We went to the show room and were treated as though our $1000 job was a $20000 job. The show room was clean, attractive and functional and the salesman we dealt with pleasant and professional. The install was scheduled at our convenience, the installer arrived on time, was pleasant, professional and competent. He did a great job and removed all of the old materials. Would recommend J D Griffiths and would use them again.

I own an investment property: a 1920's duplex bungalow in Wauwatosa. It has never had a garage, so we had one of the sales folks, Jerry, come out and determine whether it was even possible, given the space available. At first glance, the space seemed too cramped, but Jerry and I brainstormed different solutions and he came up with a design that would allow us to get two cars around a sharp turn and into the garage comfortably. He also took into consideration some other variables and was able to design a structure that met all of our needs. Jerry was early to the appointment, professional, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. It's obvious that JD Griffiths has experts on staff. I felt very comfortable with Jerry and hope we can build this garage with Griffiths, after we figure out our financial situation.

Job in Process: J.D. Griffiths 8401 West Calumet I went with J.D.Griffith because of the quality of the product and their reputation. I did not quibble about the price, negotiate hard. But now I only have the slab and I am getting slammed with not discussed extras. I received the progress invoice on April 25th dated April 16th. I was charged an extra $ 60.00 for garage cleaned out and then listened to complaints. They also left a lot of the stuff in plies in the yard. The slab looks good but it was built 8? above grade. This created extra complication and expense in the installation of the drive and yard and angst for my neighbor. I am being asked to pay $ 350.00 for additional walls. They graveled my yard to facilitating their machines. They knew a permeable drive is planned ? by others. What put in there will have to be removed for the correct foundation. They put gravel where lawn will be and where no machines could run and billed me an extra $ 234.00. Doors ? not located where agreed upon ? one caught, one not. Update to follow. There may be an issue with the shingles. Overall rating may change. Some yes and nos would be maybe today.

He did a great job. When he did the roof, he really matched the roof exactly to the roof I had. I liked it. The price was in line. The thing that was nice and I liked was that they did haul it away. When they tore it down, somebody was standing there with a hose so that the dust didn't go all over the neighborhood. I have seen other houses do it and that wasn't necessarily done. They were good. It was enjoyable working with them, it wasn't like pulling teeth.

Worked with sales rep Shawn who is very responsive, particularly by e-mail. Help me pick out the perfect door which was installed by Griffith employee Wally who also did an excellent job. Very happy with the results and I am using them again at another house.

Excellent! Jerry Kiefer was the designer and he listened to my ideas. We came up with the perfect addition that looks like it has always been there. All the workers were wonderful to have around. They were respectful of existing landscaping as well. Carpentry work was amazing! I was hesitant about giving up garden space to this garage, but it has proven to be a great addition to our property. I have also used this company for garage door and garage door opener maintenance. They are excellent!

They did a great job! They got the job done in good time, which is rare nowadays, had the first crew come in and finish and then the next crew and so forth.

The salesman showed up on time. We discusses my options. I will probably use them but need to save a bit of money before signing the contract. I was impressed with the company.

Excellent. They were prompt, came when they said they would and finished the work in less than a day. I can't complain about anything.

Steve came over measured the door, the installer brings the door...........and it doesn't fit.....The main guy didn't notice how the track ran in the garage.......He is the professional......Installer comes again and start having a melt down (for real) as the electric light & power box is in the wrong place (the main guy measured this too) electrician put it in just as instructed per JD Griffiths.....Installer guy is near screaming at me, I'ml crying by now on the phone with the electrician, trying to explain what the installer is saying as the installer won't talk to the electrician....The electrician later told me he could not believe how this guy was yelling.....I have to call JD Griffiths and get STeve to over to calm the installer down for real........and help fix this situation, Installer leaves for good;;;;;;Electrician fixes the problem A new guy finishes the install.............. Since JD Griffiths measured the door wrongly, I have no choice in the fix, they add a piece of raw wood (don't finish it) and put up the door...and ask for full payment..................THE BUMS NEVER GAVE ME A DIME FOR ALL THE TROUBLE THEY CAUSED... They should have given me 1/3 back as good customer service..... PS The electrician(Jim Sikma) didn't charge me for the extra trip or the extra work that JD Griffith caused......Sikma was compassionate & very professional.....Him I highly recommend. When they poured drive way it cracked and chiped in 3 days and they said in the contract that concrete was not covered. That is true but after 3 days come on. The siding has ripples in it and I called them and it still is not fixed. They tell you they will call you back but never do. I gave up I will never have them build anything for me again.
