I had to have them out two days later to do the work again. They charged me almost another $600 for the same work. Two months later I had them out again. Each time they came out they installed a new ceiling fan, 3 fans in 2 months. I bought the ceiling fans on my own. Two weeks after their last visit I received a bill for $1200, which I am not paying. I have since had another electrician out who disconnected the ceiling fan to find the wires had melted together. He also discovered that the wiring had never been changed. Since then I have learned that if there is a wire malfunction the breaker should turn off, which it never did. J & J Electric were the same people that upgraded me from fuses to circuit breakers, 60 to 100 amp, in 2004 when I had the electrical upgraded. They shouldn't have charged me the 2nd and 3rd times since they were correcting their work. They charged me $25 every hour for the electrician and $12.50 every fifteen minutes for the apprentice who did nothing.
Description of Work: Hired to take a ceiling light out and put a new wiring in that was strong enough to accommodate a ceiling fan with lights; check why the A/C kept turning the circuit breaker off. They were also going to install a new outlet where one had not been before. They don't clean up after themselves. If you do want them to clean-up it is a $90 charge. When he took the ceiling light out I was informed he needed to cut a bigger hole. When he put the ceiling fan in the hole was too big and they just left the whole open. So when I use the fan insulation from the attic blows down. They charged me to fix the hole they made, again their mistake.

The initial price was quoted as $210.00 if everything went smoothly. It was agreed that if the price was to go higher, they would inform me. The electrician called and asked how to get to the 1st floor and I asked him how it is going. He said so far he sees it as $300 and I told him about the $210 and he said that was incorrect. I asked how much to complete the job he said $375 total to complete the job. He had already finished the 2nd floor. I okayed the $375 total. Later on I received the bill at $701.55. When I asked Jim, he said that they had tried to inform me, and he was giving me a good cost. We settled at $585.00 as a final price. I had a different licensed electrician that would have done the job for $300.00, but Jims initial quote of $210.00 got me hooked and then there was all these surprises! The electrician did not clean up after the job. They left the ceiling tiles on the floor with pieces of electrical tape all over. The tenant ended up cleaning after them.
Description of Work: They trouble shot and repaired two doorbells. The first floor required a section of the wire changed.

THEY DIDN'T DO WHAT THEY SAID THE WOULD. WHEN IT CAME TIME FOR THE INSPECTOR TO COME THROUGH, THEY DID LESS THAN HALF OF WHAT HE SAID. THEY MISSED THINGS THAT EVEN NON-ELECTRICIANS WOULD HAVE FOUND.
Description of Work: DID AN UPGRADE AND FIXED WHAT THE INSPECTOR SAID.

THE COMPANY SEEMED RELUCTANT TO PULL NECESSARY PERMITS. ONE ISSUE THAT I WAS NEVER QUITE ABLE TO RESOLVE IS WHETHER THE COMPANY ACTUALLY CALLS AN INSPECTOR AFTER A JOB IS DONE TO GET A NECESSARY REINSPECTION. THE CITY INSPECTOR INSISTS HE NEVER GOT A CALL; THE CONTRACTOR SAYS THEY DID. I DON''T KNOW WHO TO BELIEVE, BUT I HAVE MY DOUBTS ABOUT THE CONTRACTOR''S HONESTY.
Description of Work: INSTALLATION OF FIRE EXIT SIGNS INDOORS. REMOVAL OF WIRING OUTDOORS. THIS JOB ENTAILED BRINGING A COMMERCIAL BUILDING UP TO WEST ALLIS ELECTRICAL CODES FOR BUILDING OCCUPANCY. SIGNS WERE INSTALLED OFF CENTER, THE LIGHTS ON THE EXIT SIGNS WERE NOT AIMED CORRECTLY. THE CIRCUIT BOXES WERE NOT LABELED CORRECTLY NOR DID THEY HAVE THE CORRECT LOCKS PUT ON INDIVIDUAL CIRCUITS WHERE THE SIGNS WERE WIRED. THESE ARE THINGS THAT THE CITY INSPECTOR SAID WERE THE JOB OF THE ELECTRICIAN.

QUOTED $200 FOR TWO FIXTURES AND AN OUTLET, WITH $45 FOR THE SERVICE CHARGE. IT ENDED UP BEING $761. ONE OF THE FIXTURE INSTALLATIONS WAS NOT A PROFESSIONAL LOOKING JOB, HE ALSO GAVE OTHER OPTIONS AFTER THE FACT. THEY KNEW ABOUT THESE OTHER OPTIONS BUT ONLY PRESENTED ME THE OPTION WHICH COST MORE. HE EVEN HAD ME HELP HIM DO WORK. AS HE WAS WORKING HE LEFT MESSES EVERYWHERE, HE TOLD ME THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE ME TO PICK UP. HE INSTALLED THE INCORRECT COLOR OF FACEPLATE. HE WOULDNT CHANGE IT UNLESS I PAID MORE. HE THEN INSTALLED AN OUTLET AND CRACKED MY WALL BEING CARELESS. THEY HAVE GAVE ME SOME PRETTY FAR FETCHED REASONING ON THE WORK THEY HAVE DONE. THEY HAVE BEEN RUDE AND ABRASIVE, AND ARGUMENTATIVE. . THEY COMPLETELY BLEW OFF THE DAMAGES AND THE POOR WORKMANSHIP. I TOLD HIM I WOULD PAY FOR ONLY FOR HALF OF THE LABOR BECAUSE IT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE FASTER WITH ANOTHER PERSON, BUT HE ASKED FOR MY HELP INSTEAD.
Description of Work: THEY CAME OUT AND INSTALLED TWO LIGHTING FIXTURES IN THE KITCHEN, TWO OUTLETS AND ONE DISHWASHER HOOKUP.

I''M VERY PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS. AS THE ELECTRICIAN EXPLAINED--HE DID SOME NECESSARY MINOR REPAIR TO THE PANEL RATHER THAN REPLACING IT. SAVED MONEY.
