In the four years since Home Perfect did some construction work on our house, we have had a number of problems. First, there was a problem with the patio door they installed. For an entire winter, that door let in massive amounts of cold air. After repeated calls, we were assured that Home Perfect did not do anything wrong when installing the door. Then, our calls went unanswered for months until they finally came out to inspect the door. They admitted that the door was not meeting correctly in the middle. However, rather than admitting to an improper installation, they blamed the manufacturer and insisted that the stationary panel of the door must have been made too wide. We spent hours on the phone with the manufacturer, insisting that their product was faulty and demanding that they send a new door and install it for free. They continually asked if the frame of the door had been cut upon installation, and we continually assured them that it had not. The manufacturer did, however, comply and send a new door and their own installation team with no further cost to us. Shortly after arrival, the manufacturer's team was able to point to the spot in the frame where Home Perfect cut the frame. They then widened our opening and put the doors back in with the new frame. The door now fits properly and is air tight. The second issue became obvious just over a month ago when we looked inside a crawl space that is not very accessible and found that not only were the walls soaked, but the sand was also soaking wet and there was up to an inch of standing water in some places. There is easily a foot or more of sand in the base of that crawl space, so this much water meant that massive amounts of water were coming from somewhere. Not knowing where to start, we climbed up on the roof to take a look at the chimney piping that Home Perfect installed with the new gas fireplace. We were shocked to find a gaping hole around the flu coming up from the fireplace, left completely open to rain, snow, wind and debris for the last four years. After consulting the installation manual for the fireplace and a local fireplace company, it became obvious that we were missing a tin top and storm collar. The other company we consulted with were astonished that a contractor would have left our chimney installation in this state. At this point, we contacted Home Perfect and asked that Brian Kendzor, the only contact we ever had, contact us immediately. We asked that they refund us the cost of having someone else complete the job, as they are no longer welcome to do work on our property. Someone else from the company replied, refused our request and proceeded to try to blame us for not making sure all parts were supplied. Brian Kendzor himself refused to reply to our emails or calls until directed to do so by the Metropolitan Builder's Association. The bottom line is that we do not recommend this company for any job, small or large.
Description of Work: We hired Home Perfect to do some remodeling including demolition, drywall work, electrical wiring, installing new windows and a patio door, and converting a wood fireplace to a new gas fireplace.

BRIAN KENDZOR DID THE INITIAL JOB IN AUGUST 2002 (I WAS VERY SATISFIED AT THE TIME AND WOULD HAVE RATED EVERYTHING AN A). HOWEVER, HE DID NOT PUT THE TRIM BACK ON OR HANG THE DOORS AND NOTED ON THE RECEIPT THAT HE WOULD RETURN TO DO SO. I CONTACTED HIM TWICE IN AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2003 (OVER A YEAR LATER) TO COMPLETE THE JOB (THIS IS WHEN HE FAILED TO RETURN MY CALLS). WHEN I FINALLY REACHED HIM HE BASICALLY TOLD ME THAT HIS GUYS WERE OUT SICK AND THAT IT WAS A 'BIG' JOB (4 HOURS) AND THAT HE COULDN'T DO IT AND DID NOT KNOW WHEN HE COULD. I ASKED HIM TO CONTACT ME LATER WITH A DATE/TIME (ONCE HE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO LOOK AT HIS CALENDAR), BUT HE NEVER CALLED. I HIRED ANOTHER COMPANY AND THEY PUT EVERYTHING BACK.
Description of Work: HARDWOOD FLOORS REFINISHED UPSTAIRS (3 BEDROOMS AND HALLWAY) AND STAIRS.
