I called approx 7:30 a.m. and they were able to come the same day at noon. The old water heater (AO Smith) was 30 yrs. old, water leaking from underneath. The plumber, Gary, had quite a time getting the old thing apart and out of my condo basement with spiral stairway! He could have called another guy to help him get the new one down, but he somehow managed to do it himself, and it was not easy! He said it would save me some money, so I appreciated that. You could see Gary did an extremely thorough job to make sure everything was connected properly and updating the valves to code.

Found Gene Wagner on Angie's List. Have also seen them since they are in my neighborhood. Sent an e-mail from the Angie's list page; no response. Called; got the answering service; left a message; no response. Called AGAIN; got the answering service AGAIN; left a message AGAIN; no response AGAIN.

Came promptly and quickly diagnosed and fixed the issue.

This was a job for an experienced plumber and I felt the plumber who came did a really great job. He was careful in his work so we needed a limited dry wall repair. I will use them again.

The office called to say plumber was on his way. Figured out what needed to be done, and got right to work. Suggested other work (which was reasonable). I declined extra work and got no argument. Worked at steady pace, but not hasty or frantic. Gas fitting placement right-on based on design of stove. Did good job and I'm cookin' on all 4 burners. Plumbers are expensive, but price seemed in line with what others charge. Have given an overall grade of ''B'' because this was not the type of job where ''A-Excellent'' would apply. Certainly a B+!

This is my second time using Gene Wagner Plumbing. I now had a leak from my ceiling from under my second floor tub. This had been a minor problem in the past and we just spackled over the mark and painted over it. But now the leaking was making a large spot on my ceiling and a crumbling of the ceiling drywall onto my floor. Once again, Gary, from Gene Wagner, was on time and tackled the problem efficiently. I did not have an easy access panel in the bathroom so he went in through the ceiling. The ceiling needed to be fixed anyway. The pipes were old and Gary suggested removing the drum trap that was clogging. In addition, he replaced the old piping with PVC piping. Also, Gary put in a new drain and overflow cover in the tub. While I had him at my house I had him fix a toilet that continued ''running'' after flushing. I was impressed by the level of professionalism and efficiency. I trusted the work that was done and everything has been great since.

This repair was completed quickly and efficiently.

The plumber was there for 5 minutes.

Very well - even though the plumber originally scheduled had truck problems and was late. They called right away though to let me know that he'd be late and why. They clearly presented my options, which were all reasonable and I opted to wait for someone who'd be available about 2.5 hours later. The work was done within 2 hours and I'm very happy with the results.

Of course this had to happen on a Saturday, but it was well worth the cost. The plumber was on time and professional. We were very happy and will definitely use them in the future.

They were here on time and finished the job in two and a half hours. He pointed out a couple of things that we should keep an eye on for the future.

COMPANY SECRETARY PROMISED NEXT-DAY SERVICE, AT $95 PER HR. WHEN ASKED ABOUT LABOR COST REDUCTION,SHE SUGGESTED TO PRE-DRAIN TANK. I AGREED TO DO SO. THIS INFORMATION WAS NOT FORWARDED TO MY PLUMBER. ONLY ONE MAN SENT TO REPLACE 75GAL HEATER. EXTRA TRIP CHARGE FOR HELP OF SECOND PLUMBER. POOR JOB COMMUNICATION & ORCHESTRATION. NO MONETARY CREDIT GIVEN FOR PRE-DRAINAGE OF TANK(THIS TOOK ME ONE HOUR).

Excellent. On time. Pleasant. Competent. Have used this company before, compared it with others and would use it again.

I hired them to replace the old drain on a bathtub. Trap and pipe were old and close to the main stack pipe, I didn't want to take the chance of breaking anything. Overall I'm happy with the job, my only complaint; Time promised to arrive was 9 to 11 am, showed up at 11:45. No big deal. Also, while the main debris was taken away, the work area needed sweeping and a little wipe down after he left.

I am well pleased with Wagners assessment of the situation and the job well done by his workers.

Communication with this business was extremely poor. Work was done incompletely and without prior authorization. Plumber went to the house, unplugged the drain but failed to look at the hot water heater. Had they called me when they got to the house,(like I requested) maybe they would not have had to do a second trip. I feel that I was unfairly charged with a second service call for the hot water. When talking with the owner, he was very rude and belligerent. The quality of work was OK but the work should never have been done without calling me first. And then to be treated so rudely by the owner himself gives this company an F. I will never use this company again and do not recommend them.

Brian was courteous, gave me options in various price ranges, left things clean, and was both pleasant and professional.

He was great, and quick. He did it in an hour. I like this company and will use them again.

Very good. They arrive on time, went right to work. Explain what they were doing and inform when they ran into problems. Clean up the basic mess that they made. I had only to do less than one hour of cleaning and putting things back into place.

Great. I got a quick response to my request for initial visit. Dennis was very friendly. Sent John out to look at the old tubs to see if they could be repaired. Immediate analysis was that they should be replaced. Dennis called me back the next day with a quote. I scheduled the appt, and John was back within 2 days to replace the tubs. Unfortunately, the new tubs had a crack (no fault of this contractor) which I discovered after John had left. I called back to report the issue. Dennis had John brought out brand new utility tubs within 2 days. John was obviously a very experienced plumber, and a pleasure to work with. I would definitely use Gene Wagner for future plumbing needs.

Unfortunately the plumber arrived 1hr and 45mins later then anticipated. He was scheduled to be here at 8:15am and arrived at 10:00am. I called the office after he was 1/2 hr late and was told there was some mix-up and I was not on the schedule. I later received a call and the plumber arrived 25 minutes after that. The plumber had me review all the items I wanted to have done, then began working. Since our plumbing is now 30 years old the jobs took some effort. Four of the replacement parts from Kohler were defective and that wasn't detected until things were put back together. Several of the faucets had to be redone. I appreciated that when the plumber was calculating the time spent on the job he did deduct 1/2 hour because of having to deal with the defective parts. He did report this problem to his estimator.

If I had known how to do this I could have, but I'd never worked on this type of valve. The workman was competent and informative. He described the repair and discussed the process while I watched. Next time I'll be able to handle it myself. But I forgot to get my Angie's List discount!

Dave was very personable and professional. The area was left extremely clean.

They were punctual. I felt that the plumber was able to explain what he saw. The only thing I didn't like was that he was there for 2.5 hours and he charged me for 3 hours.

DAVE WAS VERY PROMPT, COURTEOUS AND ABLE TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM QUICKLY.
