Fantastic. Same day service. Greg was in and out within 30 minutes. We had some bugs clogging some connection in our outdoor unit, he cleaned it up and it fired right up. Offered to run a test on the unit as a whole to ensure nothing else was going wrong. My husband met with him and said Greg was professional. We have yet to get the bill but the quote ($85/hour) was really affordable and was told we only pay for the time the tech spends. 30 mins = $42 etc....
Description of Work: A/C Outdoor unit wasn't working.

In 2007 We had Finn install a boiler in our home and run an electrical sub-panel in our basement. It was a fairly involved job as we went from an original 1915 boiler to a brand new high efficiency unit. After two days the job was complete and passed the shorewood inspection. Several days later I noticed water seeping out of the unit. When I opened the access panel the boiler was full of water. Finn sent the installer back the next day and discovered a seal that prevented condensation from backing into the boiler was not properly installed. I had to order a replacement part from the boiler manufacturer and Finn came back the next day and re-glued this seal. The installer admitted that he had probably not gotten enough glue around this vent pipe on the original installation. A few weeks later I received a bill for this repair. Finn was the most expensive bid I got for this job, but I wanted to work with a local vendor and establish a long term partnership. This bill for repairing there mistake was insulting. When I inquired about the bill they indicated that they felt the manufacturers part must have been broken in some way and they only billed me for part of the hours they had into the repair. Two months later the computer controller on the boiler failed due to corrosion. I didn't bother calling Finn for the repair. I had it replaced at my expense. I figured I would be paying for it anyway. Perhaps the most infuriating part of this experience was that my hands were tied to register any kind of complaint. You see Finn Power performed the electrical inspections for the village of Shorewood. I can't imagine what they might find if I ever wanted to sell my house and have an inspection done to approve the sale. Finn no longer does the Shorewood inspections so that is why I am posting this now. By the way, my electrical sub-panel failed the first inspection. Unbeleivable. Arrogant. Not worth the money.
Description of Work: Had new high efficiency condensing boiler installed. I supplied the boiler. Had new electrical sub panel installed in shop.

As a condition of our home sale we agreed to fix / replace the electrical panel due to some moisture infiltration. Finn Power was available the day I called and began to investigate whether they could replace the main breaker and a few circuit breakers due to corrosion, or if the entire panel would need to be replaced which result in an equivalent service upgrade. From that point on, it was a lesson in futility trying to get the owner to call me back with a decision on the scope of work. I should have moved on at that point but decided to have Finn Power complete the work once it was determined the entire panel needed to be replaced. The install was scheduled and the electrician completed the work in a day as expected. During the install and during the initial consultation with the owner, I expressed the absolute importance that care be taken during the install in order to make sure the panel was watertight as this was the original problem and a home sale contingency. The next morning after the install was completed, there was water coming in through the electrical panel. I called the office and the electrician showed up and started slinging sealant wherever he could. It rained again and the panel leaked again. At this point I wanted them to replace all of the compression seals from the meter into the panel, but they were sure that was not the problem. After removing the originally applied sealant, the electrician came back and started slinging a different sealant on the joints and penetrations, all the while acting as if this was an inconvenience to him personally. At no point during this exhausting experience did the owner ever call to confirm the work was completed to my satisfaction. Additionally, he only returned one of my half dozen calls while I was trying to get this fixed. I then requested that Finn Power provide a letter indicating that the work correcting the water infiltration was complete and that the new owners should contact them should any additional issues arise. At that time the office said the owner was real busy and that it would probably take a week to write that letter. After my urging and reminder of my continued patience during this conundrum, they forwarded a two line letter indicating Finn Power stands by their work and that would be transferred to the new owner. I have a fair amount of contractor work under my belt through my profession and personal lives, and these guys truly tested my patience. Had they merely returned calls promptly, assured me the work would be corrected accordingly, and followed up that indeed the work was completed to my satisfaction, I would have been content to overlook the errors. Having said that, I was not happy at all with this experience.

I spent $4,000 on that work and they did a good job. The price was acceptable and there were rebates at the time, so it worked out pretty well.

We had a few quotes for the job. This company was one of the very best we received. We set up the appointment, and they were right on time. They had no wasted motions. They did a great job. They worked hard to get done quickly. We felt that they were very personable people. They were very friendly. We had a few good conversations with them about the work. We had no problems getting our questions answered. They were finished and left no cleanup of any kind for us to do.
Description of Work: Finn Power installed a new 100 amp breaker box panel in our 2 car detached garage with work area. They also installed new fluorescent track lighting above my work area.

Their pricing is biggest reason why I love this company. Besides the pricing, they are okay. There was two men here to do this job. Now, the one guy was really good and made this job a pleasurable one where the other guy was not so good. He didn't show up the second day, which was not very professional. Another thing he did was install one of the outlets in the middle of my wall. I thought that was kind of weird. This company does work for others I know and I would probably recommend them. I would probably rate them on a 7 or 8 average depending on who it is.
Description of Work: They installed maybe around 20 to 30 electrical outlets on my second and third floor of my 3000 square foot. They also put in a new fuse box with circuit breakers and put new meters on the inside and outside of my home.

The new breaker box works just fine. I love having it because it is much safer and easier to use than the old fuses were. When they put the breaker box in, the electrician made sure we knew how to use it before he left our house.

It's been two years since they installed the electric fireplace, and it has always been in perfect working condition. They came on time, wired up everything quickly, and left no messy trail for us to clean up. I guess for them it was pretty much a no brainer and a small job. Time has made me forget the exact price for the work, but it was less than $100 as I recall. Everything is fine, and we recommend them.

I do remember that he called ahead of time to make sure someone was home. He was a rather polite individual. He showed up and went right to work. He came fully equipped for the job. He really knew what he was doing. I don't exactly remember how much it cost. We have not had any problems with his services.
Description of Work: A gentleman from Finn Power installed a total of 6 new circuits in our circuit breaker panel when those particular circuits stopped working. He also upgraded the breaker panel to an 100 amp panel.

They did a reasonable job, just a bit slow. The initial estimate was in August. Gathering and comparing estimates from various companies took us til mid-September, when we settled on Finn Power. But they don't have a full-time secretary, so then we had to play phone tag to get answers to our questions (we were trying to decide between two furnaces). We chose a furnace around Oct 1, and sent in a deposit (their policy is that you pay half before they schedule the job). We were anxious to get the furnace. We had told them we didn't have a working furnace, but they apparently forgot. I finally got in touch with them over a week after I paid the deposit, and he said they had 16 customers waiting on furnaces, and asked me then if I had an alternative heat source. I said no, and he said hopefully they'd get to us the next week! It took 2.5 weeks from when we put down the deposit to when it was installed. During this time it got to 55 degrees in our house on several occasions.
Description of Work: Our old gas furnace was dead (cracked heat exchanger). Finn Power came to our house in August to provide a free estimate, and then in October they installed a new high-efficiency gas furnace in our basement ($2672), and a new chimney liner for the hot water heater ($350, because high-efficiency furnaces vent to the outside from the basement windows, rather than through the chimney, but the hot water heater still vents from the chimney, so a special liner is needed in the chimney).

The work was done well and up to code. It was a bit slow getting started because they wouldn't just come and do the work. They had to send an estimator and mail me the estimate. Then I had to send a check for 1/2 the cost before I could call and schedule an appointment. The work was then done quickly but not as promised. The owner quickly had someone come and fix the disparity.
