I was so impressed with the level of expertise and professionalism that Bruce Edgar displayed. The amount of equipment he brought with him and the thoroughness with which he explored every inch of every level of my duplex was impressive. He did all of it in a professional, but calm and friendly manner, and answered every question I had. The report that he sent with dozens of pictures and thermal images was both informative and helpful in explaining needed work to contractors. I feel that I not only received a valuable service, but a good education about home energy efficiency, as well.
Description of Work: I actually ended up getting a rebate from the ME2 program for the work done because I spent enough on the weatherization to qualify for a full rebate of the energy audit cost. Bruce Edgar conducted the energy audit on my duplex before weatherization work done through the ME2 program and after the work was done to ensure that all requested work was done to specifications. Bruce brought in equipment to measure sources of drafts, cold spots in the walls, CO emissions, and gas leaks. He explained every test to me, thoroughly answered my questions, and generally provided me with a great education on energy efficiency in my home. Within a short time after the first energy audit, he sent me a very thorough report of his findings, including many thermal images showing sources of drafts and cold spots for both the upper unit in my duplex and my living space. He prioritized recommendations for improving energy efficiency and pointed out needed fixes for gas leaks and minor, but troubling CO emissions from appliances. Bruce was readily available to answer any questions I had about the report. Bruce is highly knowledgeable about variables that affect building energy usage and about different options for improving energy efficiency, so his answers were always helpful. After all weatherization work had been completed, Bruce again performed an energy audit on both living units and the attic, where some of the work had been done, and reassured me that the work had been performed satisfactorily.
