BACKGROUND: I contacted Empire to match brand-new existing carpet quickly. I saw value in a Sales Rep coming to the house to visually and in person match the existing carpet. Typical pushy contract sales, less than 300 ft. installed for $1500. EPIC FAIL, HORRIBLE: See photos. RUDE AND UNHELPFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE: I have been bounced around to 6 different people local level. The corporate level blames local market level and vice versa. Salesman blames install and etc. PUSHY SALES: The local assistant manager started off very nice and offered to "make things right" He gave us two options: Option 1: $450 to rip out the carpet they just laid and put down new carpet the 2x5 hallway in the photo to match. so $450 out of my pocket for them to fix their mistake OR Option #2: he SERIOUSLY said "we will give you a deal on hiring Empire to carpet the rest of the basement to match the hallway and room we just did." He seriously thought I'd hire them to do more work...? $1400 So my choices were to hire them for either another $450 job or $1400 job... One local customer service woman left me a voicemail "Why are you calling me, you signed a contract and it was installed." An assistant manager on the local level got in a text fight with me, before saying the manager would reach out. Never happened. CONTRACT: They use the contract as justification. This is null and void if you did not type up and list the product, you were verbally promised something, and it is a digital signature which isn't always binding. The contract came from a personal email, not the company email. CREDIT CARD FRAUD: If you made the mistake of hiring Empire, here are some helpful tips: Have your credit card company flag as "deceptive sales practices" and open a report. Contact the BBB: Make sure to review and list pushy, deceptive sale practices, keep a record of all calls, texts, emails.

We recently moved into a new house and we are trying to replace the carpet on our second floor (all bedroooms and stairs.) The sales rep came to our home on two separate occasions taking measurements and getting us signed up. The team of four guys show up to instal the carpet. They looked under one corner and saw tile. They refused to do anything further until the tile was tested for asbestos. (This is something the sales rep should have caught.) They end up telling us we need to remove the old carpet ourselves for them to be able to install the new carpet. We have everything rescheduled, get up at 5am the day of instal to pull out all the carpet, disassemble furniture, etc. They sent one guy. One. He looks at the size of the job and tells me he can’t do the job by himself so he “steps outside to call his manager” and leaves. The customer service is terrible. Our house is now a construction zone (because THEY made us rip out all of our carpet) and we have an 11 week old baby. We now have to pay for a hotel since the house is currently not safe for her, take a fifth day off of work, and their solution is $200 off our $4,000 carpet. Save your money and go to ANYONE else. The worst company I have ever dealt with.

We needed the work done quickly. Other places we called had at least a three week wait before we could install. Empire did it in just a few days! Their sales rep helped us choose a carpet that would be moderately priced and durable enough for dogs. The installation team was here right away in the morning and worked very quickly. The carpet looks great!

The service was terrible. He estimated $400, which was double what I should have been paying.
Description of Work: I wanted to put carpet in my porch. He told me that he would have to charge me double for the size of my porch. The job was too small for them to come from Chicago. I didn’t even want a pad, I just wanted a rug. They didn’t show me any samples.

The service was excellent. All appointments were kept on a timely basis. There was an issue with the flooring in the entryway that the installers identified. They made an adjustment to the contract on the spot since we couldn't get the type of flooring we requested in that area. We had originally wanted to carpet over some hardwood flooring, but the sales rep recommended against it and recommended refinishing the floors instead. This will result in a huge savings for us.

Everything went great with the exception of communication. Workers were anticipated in the afternoon but arrived in the morning. After being informed we would be back shortly they were preparing to leave 15 minutes later. If we had not been arriving at that moment the job would have had to be rescheduled. A frustrating start but the remainder of the experience went smoothly.

Description of Work: I will start this message off as saying that I feel the manager of the service representative I initially placed the order with is entirely to blame. That said, I am again highly disappointed because, for the second time, I have received the wrong product which was not discovered until the installer brought the product to my home and installed it. The sales representative whom came to my home was very pleasant, friendly, polite and respectful. After that, it was also clear he was very “green” to the position, did not know his product and was not thoroughly &/or properly trained. During my in-home estimate visit, this rep had to call his manager at least 3 times regarding my desired specifications and order. It was ultimately determined, the sales rep did not properly specify on the invoice my desired product. But, after him calling his manager multiple times during our in-home visit, a price was determined and settled upon my specific desired product. So, my credit card was charged the full balance of my expected charge for the product I wanted and had ordered, but did not receive. Because of that, I have started to dispute the charge of the blinds through my credit card agency. At this point, I believe I am due a phone call, preferably from the manger that is to blame for this whole mishap, to call me and set the record straight. Thank you

They were here when they said they were going to be here and they took as long as it took. The only thing there is they spoke Spanish, all the workers spoke Spanish but there was somebody there that could speak English and he did translate for the rest of the crew.
Description of Work: Actually they did a very wonderful job. They replaced the linoleum in my kitchen and they did the living room and the hallway in my house. I have a big house but they did a wonderful job and both areas were all done in one day.

At our sales appointment, we stressed with the sales person we wanted a quality laminate that would be durable for our pets w/ scratches, and resistant to moisture as it was going in our kitchen. We also wanted a quality foam backer (there were two options). He showed us the city view flooring and assured us that it was a high quality floor, that we wouldn't have to have transitions in between the rooms (he even called to check on this). The day of installation, we had all our furniture moved into our living room to make room for the installers, an entire house compacted into one room is far from convenient, but understandable at least. The installers snapped together a few pieces of the floor to show us how it would look in a larger scale (as the sales rep only shows you a tiny piece), and wanted us to sign off on several things. The floor was absolutely horrible. You could see white at every seam, which on a darker color was extremely noticeable. The installers said they could do a touch up pen to the seams but after a few cleanings it would likely come off and be white again. It looked worse than the floor we were replacing and not at all up to the quality the sales rep, Ed had stressed to us it would be. They came with the lower quality pad which was not what we discussed. The sales rep measured all the rooms we wanted done, but didn't include one larger room on our actual order so the installers didn't come with all the floor we needed. We called him, and he admitted that mistake and was going to take care of that room for no additional charge (this was before we saw the low quality of the floor). The installers were extremely professional, and patient with our questions. They did not recommend it for the kitchen as they said any water in between the seams would cause it to buckle. They also would of required us to sign something for having no thresholds (which the sales rep called on the day of sales appointment to confirm we didn't need), and it would of voided the warranty. To have thresholds at every bedroom into the hall when the flooring was the same, it would look awful, but with the floor it would buckle. This is not what our sales person said, and was part of the reason we finally decided to sign initially. We rejected the floor. It felt like a bait and switch, as the product was NOT what the sales rep told us it would be. It was a very shady experience. We are expecting our deposit to be returned. Terrible business practice.

Horrible experience. Sales person seemed knowledgeable and told us he used to an installer. He also told us Empire uses it own installer. He quoted 4 hour install time by placing embossing liquid over current Vinyl and gluing new Vinyl after liquid dried. When the sub contractor installers arrived we were told floor was to uneven to go over existing vinyl and needed a complete sub-floor!. This added $710 to the price quoted. The sales person had checked floor with level and said it was OK. The install took 8 Hours but was done very well. However the installers used our garage and driveway for setting up tools and mixing glue etc. They removed the door right away where are cats were kept (they told us they would not do it right away but they did) and they never closed the door (I asked many times) leading from garage to home, letting in flies and letting out cooling. Only one of the installers spoke English. I asked installers to leave some Vinyl for repairs but they never did. They left the door hinges halfway in and left lots of nails and sharp metal in the garage, driveway and house after they left. They also left behind a partial sheet of sub-floor plywood which i did not ask for. The installers were friendly and helped me move back some furniture. With the inaccurate estimate, additional cost and sloppy cleanup by installers i cannot recommend Empire Today for any replacements and will never use them again.

The estimate process was very easy, Mike arrived promptly and had a wireless laser measuring device that created a floorplan directly on his tablet. He had all of the samples with him that I could choose from. In fact, they could have performed the installation the very next day if I had been willing to sign the contract after the measurement. I did receive quotes from other providers, and ended up going with Empire due to the simplicity of the sales process, and the 1 year 0% financing they offer. The salesman came back out the following week (after I received the other quotes), and I signed the contract. The work crew came out the next day. The work crew was 4 guys, and they completed the work very quickly. They did need to stop back the following morning to complete the installation (they didn't have enough materials). The workmanship is top notch, I could not find a gap or flaw that caught my eye on the entire floor. The Luxury Vinyl Plank really brightens up my basement, I am excited to start building out the 'man cave' down there. They cleaned and swept the floor after installation, though there was a very small amount of construction debris left in the unfinished side of the basement (like a dustpan's worth). Overall I was very impressed with the entire process. My only comment on the Empire sales process would be the initial quote - they start out with a fairly high quote, so make sure you do your homework and find out what a fair price is. It's worth getting quotes from other providers to get a sense of where the market is. I can't imagine going with another provider after my experience with Empire Today.

The person that dealt with seems too much know a lot about what he was talking about. I did not feel that he was doing well with giving options and as comparing it to others, they were the worst to give the quote. So, I was not impressed. The reason why I did not end up using them was because it was way over priced.

Sales process was very smooth. Sales person brought samples that we could see in our home, which was very important since we needed to match existing carpet that would remain in some rooms. He was able to answer all questions on the spot and provided great confidence that the job would go well. Installers arrived on time and moved furniture with care. There was no evidence of any problems until after they completed and I noticed that, while the color match of the new and remaining carpet was good, there was a major difference in the padding height. This difference is both noticeable visually and by feel when walking between the new and original carpeted areas. This was despite the sales person having previously bragged about the thickness and density of the new pad they would be installing. This is frustrating as the original rooms have a very soft, and pleasantly plush feeling, which the new areas feel harder and less luxurious. Calls to the sales person were initially responded to promptly, however the promised follow up to resolve the issue never happened and later calls were not returned. Months after the installation, the Empire carpets are wearing much quicker than the carpet it replaced. Considering the high price, quality concerns, and failure to even attempt to address the issues we will not consider them again.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced existing carpet in Living Room, Foyer, Stairs and Bedroom. Was to match existing carpet in several infrequently used rooms that would remain. Sales person walked through and measured all rooms to be completed.

The salesman was Jack, I allowed them into my home, I need carpeting on my 143 year old house. It was supposed to be $750 for one room. It was upon the contingency that another room 2/3 of the size would also be $750. He said if you have an animal and they have an accident it would not affect the carpet or padding, but it made me wonder where it went. I signed a contract with him, and put $100 down, and I had 3 business days cancel. On Monday I called and cancelled, by that time they already cashed my check. It took 3 weeks to get my money back.

There was and ad on tv that stated carpeting for .99 a square yard. The carpeting was horrible and every other sample was very expensive. The laminate floor was also on sale but with installation was very expensive. I actually had the flooring finished for 1/2 the price of what was quoted by Empire. Disappointed by the quality of the carpet and flooring and also the high price.

. While their price was not the lowest and the selection was limited, we were impressed with the quality of the laminate flooring that we chose for these rooms. The salesperson was professional and thorough and the installers arrived on time for the initial installation. The installation of the flooring material more that met our expectations and we truly love the new floor. We did have difficulties with the cortaron that was installed however- we had originally wanted wood to match the existing trim, but unfortunately there was a mixup and we ended up with cortaron that matched the tile instead. The salesperson was prompt in attempting to fix the problem by scheduling the installers to come back the following Tuesday to reinstall the correct material. Unfortunately there was a problem in the scheduling department and the installers did not show on that day. This is why I gave Empire a B rating as there were a few too many mixups. To their credit they did try very hard to address the issues that arose. I would try them again but would perhaps pay a little more attention to the details.
Description of Work: We had Empire replace the flooring in our kitchen and laundry. Our existing floor was vinyl and we had them install a tile like laminate in both rooms.

The nice thing about them is, that they bring out samples to your home, so you look at them right in your home and you don't have to go anywhere. We had called them, because we had seen an ad on TV, if you bought one room you get another room done for free. But in the end, it turned out that they did not consider kitchen or bathroom as a room. I found that a little deceiving.

They were wonderful. They are very popular and they have been around since I was little. First I thought that their price was more but you get what you pay for. So I am so thankful that I went with them. They come in and do the work immediately, clean up behind and I think everybody needs to go to Empire. They were very nice. The sales rep that came was really nice and his name was Kim. The installers were also really good. They put like covering down on my floor before they walked on my floor then they installed the carpet. They were really nice. They took me through a walk through to make sure I liked the carpets before they installed it. They took me to the van to make sure that it was the right carpet that I chose. They were on time.

They did an excellent job. It was great. They have different installers they use. The guys that installed my floors did an excellent job. They were really good and they did it in a day. They got here early in the morning and they stayed until 7 to get it finished. They didn't take a break or lunch or anything. They said they preferred to finish it. They did an awesome job. I don't remember the price. I would definitely use them again based on my experience.
