Description of Work: I needed woodwork stripped and stained a different color and it all turned out perfect with Kurt... It was a better job than we expected actually and we would recommend him to anyone.

Description of Work: Curt refinished our front door and side light woodwork. The work was wonderful and the price was reasonable. The only trouble was that Curt first came in January and said he would call back to reschedule some inside work in about a month. We never heard from him. I called him at the end of April begging to get the front door done and he completed the door 4 weeks later (as scheduled) but could not get to the interior wood finishing work until first of August. So expect a significant wait to get the work done and be proactive in following up to get on his schedule.

Description of Work: Curt removed the paint from all woodwork in living room, dining room and front hall. All woodwork was then stained and varnished. Curt refinished six 15 lite french doors.

Description of Work: We initially hired Curt to give us an estimate to fix about 3-4 six panel oak doors that were stained (in a darker finish) by a different professional stainer for our new basement rec room. This old stainer got all of our baseboard trim a lighter color than most of the doors, and then as he got further along in finishing the doors, about the last 3-4 doors were completely DARK compared to all the rest of the doors (and we had about 10-12 total doors in our new rec room/bedroom/bathroom). Curt came out and we also had him take a look at our window casing (not finished) and 2 art niches (that were botched by the original stainer because they were stained after they were installed). He quoted us $500 and told us he couldn't come back for about a week and a half. That was fine with us, and we settled on a date. Curt literally had to STRIP the 3-4 doors down to the bare wood and then resand, restain and revarnish all of them. He also finished up the 2 window casings and worked on the art niches. By the way, he showed up on time and on the date we agreed upon (and I can tell you from our basement experience that that is rare with alot of subcontractors). Fast forward to about a month later and we had our carpet installed and the company that installed it totally scraped up and gouged our base board trim. We called Curt back to take a look at the damages and he gave us a quote, and he came back the next week to perform the work. At that time, not only did he completely sand, and refinish the scrapes/scratches, he also applied 2 coats of varnish to protect the wood from any further damage in the future from us vacuuming, etc. He also protected our carpet while working by taping all drywall, carpet and using newspaper under the baseboards as he worked (my husband watched). He also mentioned that he'd take another look at the 2 art niches as I wasn't completely satisfied when he worked on them the first time (keep in mind, he was trying to FIX someone else's mistakes so that we could salvage our wood). They look amazing now!!

Description of Work: I hired Curt to stain the interior and exterior of 3 doors that I had purchased from a different company. I had gotten a quote from another vendor on Angies list and he quoted me $600/door for the staining. Curt was very responsive. I left a message and he called me right back, scheduled a time to give me a price on the doors. He quoted me $300 total for the 3 doors plus the staining of a sliding patio door. I could not believe that his price was 6 times less expensive! The cost for the doors I purchased alone was $3000 so I wanted to make sure that the staining of the doors would look great. Curt asked me exactly what I was looking for, noted the process of sanding, staining (# of coats) and the marine finish he adds for the final 3 coats to the door, he looked at my trim and did a great job matching the color of my other existing doors and trim to the new doors. He began work the following day after his estimate and the work is scheduled to be completed in a very reasonable timeframe.
