It was excellent, really outstanding. I like that they called me within a day, set up the appointment, gave me a time frame that worked for me, came on time, and had great confidence in what he was doing. He answered all my questions. I have an older home so he explained things in terms of what I should do in the future and what I should be aware of. Knowledgeable, on time, appropriately friendly, everything just went like clockwork. I would recommend this organization to my friends.

Electrician showed up exactly on time! I showed him what needed to be completed. He calculated what the price would be and I told him to complete the work. He installed the first two GFCI in about 20 min, the third one just had wires touching so he trimmed wires and put it back together. That took about 5 min. The remainder of time was spent adding outlet in basement. He was completely done within an hour and 15 min of arrival. He had some phone calls to handle while he worked and was on phone after work was completed setting up for other jobs for the day. I was presented bill that I paid with a credit card and he was gone after a total of 1.5 hrs. The quality of the work was excellent but I do feel that the price was a bit high. If I include travel time, the job took a total of 2.5 hrs. Parts would be about $100 retail, wholesale in bulk, much less. So, $468 - $100 parts = $368. Divide that by 2.5 hrs = $150 per hr. I would have expected to pay closer to $100 per hr. As I said, the quality and punctuality were excellent as was the electrician. He was extremely personable and cleaned up after himself, wore foot covers whenever he was in the house and had all tools and parts that were needed. He explained what he was doing. I did have the price quote before he began and I needed to get the work done. Overall, a great experience but would consider others just based on price. As a side note, I did have a deal that I purchased where I paid $100 to get $200 worth of work. This reduced my out of pocket to $368, but I assumed that a deal means getting more for less, that wasn't really the case here.
Description of Work: Replaced 2 GFCI outlets and rewired a third. Added a GFCI outlet in basement about 10ft from existing line.

The technician (Jim) called in advance of his arrival and was punctual. The install was taken care of in under two hours, and the service by my team of two was performed with courtesy and efficiency. The cutouts were done precisely and all debris was completely removed. The only evidence of their presence was the ceiling fan and new wall switch they left behind. That ALMOST pales in comparison with the unique way Jim went the extra mile. As he was leaving I happened to mention in passing that my next order of business was to tend to my wife's vehicle, which would not start. He told me he would bring out a battery tester from his truck. Of course the car did start but he insisted I pop the hood anyway. Sure enough, the load test showed a defective battery! I find it refreshing to witness this combination of professionalism and concern for clients. As long as they remain in business Current Electric has a lifetime customer.

We had Current out for a couple of visits for the same problem; initially the problem was not fixed and we had to have them come back to check their own work when the problem recurred within a day. The technician is apparently not with the company any longer, but we were still charged another couple hundred to repair a problem they had already had a crack at; this was also the same area that they had worked on the year before, so in total there were three visits and less than ideal results. In the end we spent hundreds for a single, partially functional outlet. An additional fixture on the same circuit also was damaged around the time they visited so we did not feel good about the overall result. They often tried to sell us on their 'preferred customer' program which, for a fee, provides some benefits in scheduling. Based on their work I would not want them to be my contractor of choice.
Description of Work: We have had trouble with flickering lights in our 2nd story; we asked for troubleshooting services, and had previously asked for a fan replacement.

The electrician (Bob) was on time and was very pleasant until I explained that part of the service request that I made included a consultation and that I was seeking his advice and input on my lighting options. I felt somewhat (not a lot, but a little) pressured by Bob to proceed the same day and when pricing was presented it was clear that the Big Deal ($50 for $100 of Electrical Service) was not going to get me very far with Current Electric's pricing. In fact it was clear to me that they made up that $50 pretty quickly. Don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge a business for making money...they deserve to...but I learned later from other electricians that I had been taken for a bit of a ride. One of the most important lighting issues that I had was in my kitchen. Bob presented only one option as if it were the best, and did not inform me that the installation would involve conduit piping that is visible underneath my cabinets. He also did not explain that the lighting (I can't remember what it's called right now) was going to put out a lot of heat as compared to other cooler-temp lighting options. I can't leave the lights on for very long as my kitchen heats up and the cabinets above them get very warm even on the low setting. It feels like a bit of a fire hazard and the food/liquor in the cabinets needs to stay cool. This is where the story gets a bit embarrassing. The electrician was very flirtatious with me. I enjoy a little flirting and I played along. But I later realized that he used his flirtation and his suggestiveness to sidetrack me from making a smart, careful decision. I spent $800 or so on the kitchen lighting which I'm very unhappy with. And I thought I was going to get a date out of it which also did not happen! :(
Description of Work: Changed 2 switches, modified 1 switch so I could have the fan & the light on separately, installed under the cabinet lighting in the kitchen.

We had a lot of work that needed to be done on a house we just bought. So, we asked Current Electric to provide some quotes about swapping the existing panel to a larger panel and possibly going to 200 AMP service. We also needed a couple of outlets run very quickly before movers came, so our quote request was kind of a two-part deal (some work now; other work later). The tech came promptly and was impressive in the knowledge about code, etc. He was helpful in determining which issues on our list were true problems versus unneeded changes. What turned us off, however, was how the pricing was done. Rather than do time and materials like many companies, Current Electric does more a "charge by task" system. This meant that running one outlet to an exterior wall was $425. Running a second outlet to an interior wall another almost $300. Add the cost of the permit, and we would have been close to $900 just for two outlets. I was so astonished that I politely told the tech we'd need to shop around some more and we'd get back to them if we wanted to move forward. The quote for the panel exchange wasn't as outrageous, but it seems that if you have smaller jobs, I'm not convinced Current Electric is the most affordable company to choose. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and informative, but due to cost, we chose to go with another company.
Description of Work: Provided quote for panel exchange and several outlet installations.

I was able to obtain the materials at their cost and they continue to do an outstanding job. This is the third technician whose services I have used. His name is Bob, and he along with every other employee I have used has been professional.
Description of Work: They installed new wiring, and installed a ceiling mounting box with new wiring and lighting in the kitchen. They also installed a lighted motion detector system in the rear of the house.
John the technician from current electrician came to replace an outlet in the bedroom, replaced a light and fan in the bathroom and installed new wiring and new plug for light fixture in the basement. They did an outstanding job. John was very friendly gave me the approximate cost up front. He was dressed neatly he was very professional. price was very reasonable. Also gave us a quote for a future project that was priced extremely reasonably. We have used them in the past, continued to do good work, and very happy with their service.

I paid $100 for the Big Deal, but because of the additional work he did he ended up charging me $600 because he charges by the unit. He didn't tell me this until I received the bill. He was only here for little over an hour and I ended up paying way more than I wanted and anticipated.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal from Angie's List for some electrical work. I wanted them to install an outlet above the garage door so I can have it open and have it replace an extension cord so it could be up to code. What he did do was install two outlets and did some additional work that I didn't request.

He looked at the electrical wiring and he was quick and very efficient. He worked really well. Everything was quality work and it's been working fine since then. He was very nice, he explained a lot of stuff and answered my questions. I actually have some more work in the future to get done and I'll look for those guys.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal coupon for Current Electric. They came out and did a couple of small things like some exposed wiring that I needed done and covered up. I think I paid a little bit more because it went over, I'm not sure. But if I did, I didn't mind because it was a very quick job. Most of the stuff was done in the basement and the stuff was putting in GFCI that I needed switched on the kitchen.

My wife & I did our research on whole house generators, got bids from several contractors, and selected Current Electric to do the job. They had excellent ratings and their price was equal to other contractors. Current Electric technician Jim Drott did the install with the assistance of 2 other technicians. He, not a salesman, came to our home in November to give us a quote for the work. We would rate Jim a 10+. He was very knowledgeable re. the complexities of electrical work and extremely competent in all phases of this job. It was a major project, in January, and Jim did just a truly outstanding job. Jim is very personable and very easy to work with. He answered all of our questions and concerns, and left us with the knowledge that if anything went wrong, or we had any other concerns, that he would handle them immediately. Jim is one of those rare individuals that you run into in this day and age, that when he shakes your hand, you have full confidence that his word is his bond. We would rate Current Electric and specifically Jim Drott an A+ and will definitely call them for any other electrical work that I need done.
Description of Work: Installed a whole house Generac Model #5871, 10KW, 120/240, single phase, air cooled, natural gas fueled, automatic standby generator. Also including a 100 amp rated, 120/240 volt single phase, power managed (load shed) automatic transfer switch with a 14 circuit emergency load center next to the main electrical panel. Also including some other minor electrical work in the basement and a two year service maintenance schedule agreement.

Bought an Angie's List big deal for this company. This was a mistake, as a 45 dollar chunk of its value disappeared because Current charges a trip charge. Bob was the electrician, and he was all around great. On time, respectful, a quick and clean worker. Explained all to me a head of time, with a few options, so he could make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. Work was done well, and to this day I do not have any problems with the quality of work done by Bob from Current. In addition, it seems as if Current tries to send the same electrician back each time, which is appreciated. However, there are 2 reasons I would not use Current again. 1. The trip charge. This is PART OF DOING BUSINESS. This alienates customers such as myself. 2. I had Current come out to give me a bid on a generator transfer switch. They were 300 dollars HIGHER than everyone else. Same exact equipment. When Bob heard this, his response was that they give a firm price on their work, so there are no surprises for the customer when the job is finished. This 'firm' price seems to help Current more than their customers, as it seems they just add a cushion onto each job in order to guarantee making a profit each time. I went with another company who stayed exactly on price and did an outstanding job installing my transfer switch. No trip charge, by the way.

I used them twice. The first project I wanted to get a security light, but they suggested motion light. This light does not even work anymore. FOr the second job, work didn't get approved by the electric company before they did the work, which they did in July, and it did not get approved until December. They sent me a bill to another address, that I do not even live at. Called and asked me to pay the bill, let them knowI had never got the bill. I wasn't trying to avoid paying I just wanted to makesure it got approved. I called the city and they said they did what they had to do and it finally got approved.

I paid more than the big deal. It was my mistake. I did not read the fine print close enough. We did have them do some work, and it ended up costing more. It was $20 more because of the nature of what I wanted to do was inconsistent with what the terms were. The work was done very well. What you got was a nice guy, a good electrician. I think I used them a couple of times; once it was downstairs work area and they redid the lighting there then the other half of the basement, the rec room and they did the relighting there. And if they will come up with another coupon I will use them again. The deal was for 2 hours of fire place repair or restoration and we ended up using it for something else. They were on time. With both the jobs they gave me options that I didn’t know I had, so I saved some money there. They did an excellent job; they didn’t leave a mess behind. I would recommend them, really. I thought the prices were very reasonable for the work they did. They did a great job all way around. It's not a dark hole anymore!

Since we had to call on a Sunday, we knew that the service call would be higher than during the week, but we really needed power in the house. Jon was our provider and was at our home within an hour (as we were told on the phone). He was very professional and didn't make me feel like I was calling for no reason (the initial fix was very simple). Seeing the instability in the outlet box, he recommended and stated he could provide us with a new box that would be more stable and allow for 2 extra outlets in the room within the hour. We were so impressed with his troubleshooting and suggestions-it made the sticker shock of a Sunday emergency call well worth it. I would not hesitate to contact Current Electrical again as well as request Jon, who performed our work. The quality of the work was fabulous.
Description of Work: While I was changing outlets in a bedroom, the circuit breaker would not flip. Jon came out to troubleshoot our issue and also provided us with a sturdier box (the old box was missing a screw hole, making the outlet not as sturdy) as well as expanded it to a 4 outlet versus the standard 2. The room the work was performed does not have many outlets (older home) and this provided us with 1. a sturdy, functional box, 2. more outlets
