My computer was so slowwwww. It seemed like there was plenty of space on the hard drive and there were no junk files, but everything from booting up to doing anything took forever. I thought that I would have to spend big bucks and get a whole new PC. I called Computer Gallery for advice and spoke with Phil, who had built this computer a few years ago. He looked up the build info and was sure that what I really needed was a new solid state hard drive. He told me that the prices of the drive have come down recently and he guaranteed that this would fix my problems. If it did not, he would build a new PC and use that drive in it. I dropped off the PC and 2 days later I got a call from Karen to come pick it up. She said it was FAST and I would be happy with it. Got it home and WOW what a difference! It booted up so fast and never hesitates or stutters like it used to. I am so happy! I only had to spend just short of $300 to have what seems like a brand new PC. Plus I didn't have to change my operating system or other programs. I can't say enough about the great work and advice that Computer Gallery has given me over the years! Phil & Karen really know their stuff!

My computer died. Turns out it was the power supply unit. Phil came in on a Saturday morning although the shop is not generally open on Saturdays. Repairs were completed and the computer was ready on Monday. You don't get faster than that. I asked about whether or not I needed to upgrade the computer. Phil, however, told me that it wasn't necessary for the tasks I am doing. Anywhere else would likely have been happy to sell me a new computer. Great, honest service and support.

I found this provider on Angie's List a couple of years ago and have been glued to their quality and thorough assistance ever since. Phil found the problem with my old PC and offered repair options, but I decided that it was time for a new one. We discussed a "wish list" and he gave me a reasonable quote. I have a computer science technical degree, so when Phil gave me the specs, I knew he was offering top quality components and rugged pre-release testing. Two weeks later I picked up the new PC and couldn't be happier!

Phil had previously worked on our office XP tower - but the motherboard was failing. Due to our need for the continuing use of some legacy software, we needed a new computer that ran the MS XP operating system. He did some research and configured a new faster computer that still would run on the XP system. Dropped off our old computer on Monday - he completely transferred all data and programs to the new computer. We still could use our wireless keyboard, mouse, sound system, printer and monitor. The same day I called I dropped off my computer. Karen called the next day to say the recovery had gone well and I could come pick up both the dead and good drive, as well as the dead computer. In the process of recovering I clicked once to often and hid some of my files. I called again, and talked to Phil who connected to my computer via the internet and quickly made the files visible again. Also very much appreciated!

I called the company to see if they could replace the fan of my VAIO laptop which was making noises. I was told that was going to take about two hours of work, and the fan part was going to cost about 65-75 dollars. i was also told that for the price of fixing my computer, I would be better off just buying a new computer. I explained I did not want to buy a new computer. Finally i was told they could not perform the job. So, I went on the internet and found, not only the part on EBAY for $29,99, but also found a film on YOUTUBE on how to change the part, step by step. In the film, it took about 15 minutes for the person to change. Very easy procedure. I have order the part from EBAY and I will be fixing the computer myself.

Response from COMPUTER GALLERY
First, let's talk about the price. I never saw the machine, he only called. We only spoke in generalizations, never talking about the specific model or part # of the machine. I get my repair parts from Sony, not eBay. Parts on eBay claimed as "new" are typically pulls from old notebooks, and I avoid them at all costs. The only time I go to eBay is when no other parts are available, and I ALWAYS disclose I will be using used parts. That was NOT the case here. A repair like this typically does bill-out at one to two hours, at $54 per hour, plus parts. The price he is quoting would have been the high-end of my best guess. I tried to explain that putting money into a notebook old enough to have developed a noisy fan is risky business. A notebook old enough to have developed a noisy fan can have another problem a month after the fan is replaced. In light of the fact that new notebooks are advertised in the Sunday newspaper for $350, dropping $100+ into an old notebook may not be the smart move. As I tried to explain this, he became (in my opinion) somewhat argumentative. As kindly as possible, I declined to perform the repair. So now he is back claiming he can do it himself with a $30 eBay part. In my opinion, I think this review just proves that Jose is unreasonable. He is comparing the high-range of a ballpark guesstimate to what it would cost to perform the repair himself. And so far he has only ordered a part and watched a video on youtube. So let's recap: I can't afford to charge DIY prices. I need to cover my overhead, and then some. By the time you add that in, it may no longer make sense to have me perform such a repair, and I will attempt to honestly steer you in another direction. Please do not get upset if repair doesn't make economic sense. I'm just a guy trying to run an honest repair business. Please don't ding me for telling it like it is.

They did an OUTSTANDING job of investigating, fixing the immediate problem and THOROUGHLY testing the PC to be sure everything was working properly. I thought the price was low considering the amount of work that they did. Diagnosed quickly. Gave me my options. They had it fixed in a few days and gave me back my old hard drive. They installed a new hard drive, installed Windows Vista on it, and got it up and running for the estimated price that they had given me.

We had trouble with Internet Explorer...window/program would not open for us. Through Angie's List and the rating this company received, I contacted the Computer Gallery. Upon dropping off the laptop, they indicated a current 2-3 day timeframe for diagnosis. On the 4th day, we receveid a phone call indicating the computer was repaired. The Computer Gallery has great hourly fees for computer repair, and I intend to bring this company more busniess...have a desktop computer that needs to be looked at next.
