Burkhardt Heating & Air Conditioning

Beware Burkhardt! Our repair went badly. I suspected the pilot assembly was bad, and pointed this out to the technician. He spent about 1/2 hour and verified the problem. He didn't have the part on his truck, and sent another employee to pick up the part. That employee got the wrong part, and so the mechanic drove from the East Side to Germantown and picked up the part and returned. The install took another approximately 1/2 hour. When I inquired about the high cost ($633), Burkhardt cited 3-1/2 hours on the job. (They also refused to tell me the cost of the part, saying the job was :"flat rate." I checked online and found a price range for the part of $40 to $89. This were retail costs, so I assume Burkhardt probably didn't pay more than $50 for the part.) So, we paid what appears to be about $150 to $200/hour to have a trained mechanic fetch a part from a supplier located in another county. Incredible! Most reputable shops don't send expensive mechanics to pick up parts--they have drivers paid much less. Very disappointing experience.

They were so wonderful. When my furnace went out 2 years ago on the coldest night in February, on a Friday, they put together a team even though they don't work on Saturdays to install a new furnace to make sure I would be warm. They're always there when I need them.

My heating system stopped working on Friday night. I called the emergency line and they responded within the hour. Agreed to start the job first thing Saturday morning. The problem was fixed by 11am. The bill was under $500. Excellent service. Will hire again.

It was seamless. Honestly, you wouldn't even have known they were there. I have a tight stairway. They brought parts in and out of the basement and were extremely conscientious to not hit the walls/ doors. Took time when done to go over the some basic items regarding the furnace and thermostat and verify they would come back in spring to be sure air conditioner is working too. Very professional, very courteous.

Punctual. Professional team. Completed work well within estimated time. Cleaned up well, and took as much time as necessary to explain work and how to use new equipment. They were able to answer all technical questions well. 1 month in, everything seems to be working well.

All went well - the tech arrived on time after calling first, reviewed the status of the furnace and suggested one small piece of additional maintenance work on the humidifier.

Great. Expecting a costly repair due to strange noise. But technician was able to adjust and only paid normal service call. He did say a part may need to be replaced next year. Coupon made it even better.

I called first once I knew we had a problem since we weren't getting any heat. I didn't have access to a computer so I called Angie's List for help and this company was the first vendor I was referred to. After hearing all the awards and reviews they have, I didn't bother getting another provider to call. They were phenomenal, the best HVAC company I've ever dealt with. The person who came out was completely down-to-earth, didn't pressure me into anything, and just had great people skills. The effiency of the company was great. They made sure to get someone out to us fast so we weren't inconvenienced. The pricing was above competitive. The pilot light went out the day after they were here, so I called them, and was told that the guy who came out before was out on another job. I told them that I didn't want anyone new because he knew everything about the situation and this company went out of their way to get him out to us and he we was here within half an hour. They didn't even charge us for coming out again either.

Perfect. Team was professional and knowledgeable. Absolutely no up-sell pressure in sizing of furnace.

I was mislead and told that it was being researched to see if I would qualify for financing, while in fact I as signed up for a credit card with out my authorization or knowledge.

They were really knowledgeable and gave me a lot of options to fix them. My heating bills have been amazing so I have no complaints.

They are very fair. They're really good at what they do.

We've used a number of different companies. Sometimes it depends on who's running a coupon. I think most recently we've used Burkhardt. They've done a number of things for us.

The service person was unpleasant. I've been with them for years, so the last, in 2015, service I received, that was good, very good, I thought, and the person came in and explained some things, but the prior year that I had someone come out, that wasn't so good. The person that came out just kind of came in and I wasn't even quite sure if he really did anything. He didn't share any information. I've only used them, so I don't know price-wise. I thought they were a little bit overpriced.

Excellent service from start to finish. Doug was knowledgeable and answered all my questions. He did such a great job pitching his service that I never got another quote

I am happy with them. My interaction with them was on the phone, it was good. I assume the work was done right, it was for a tenant at a rental property. I would use them again in the future.

The on-site in my home experience went very well. There are special filters that I will need to get. So I will have to go to their place and get it. This is the only thing that I can say that I didn't like about them.

They did nothing. Said I needed a plumber.

Their receptionist or office manager, whatever she was. You stand behind this door. There were a few dogs, birds. just animals everywhere. Every Time I was there, it was like bring your animal to work day. But it was kinda normal, she said for them. The first I went, she said the pets need to be watched for some reason. I went a year later because the filters need to replaced every year. It was the same situation. One of those dogs was huge and he would jump up. I don't have time for that. I never went back after the second time and found an alternative filter. The dog never jumped on me. There was a counter that was between me and her but the dog would run at that counter with fierceness. I was afraid that it was going to jump over. It is kinda hard to know their personal situation but the office needs to be more personal.

We waited too long so we are going to have them come out more quickly. We had a coupon. It was 1 person and there was nothing dirtied up. He was cleaning out the furnace so he cleaned up everything. It took somewhere between 1 and 2 hours.

It went very well. I have been using them for the last 5 years they installed the both units and I have been happy with them

Very well. The technician was great to work with and I felt I could trust his opinion and his work.

Very well. The owner came out to do an inspection, help select a replacement unit and provide a detailed estimate. He provided sources for financing. His crew came exactly when scheduled and finished the job within the allotted time. It has been working faithfully since installation.
