Burkhardt Heating & Air Conditioning

Made contact with company and was promised a call back but never got one.

Among other companies I contacted Burkhardt Heating and Cooling who although was very busy made an effort to work with my schedule and met with me sooner then the other companies. Based on what I read I decided to stay with the Carrier/Bryant brand. I figured I will be paying premium for the quality but that wasnt the case. Bryant units were competitive with the other brands. I shopped around and collected nine quotes including two for the Carrier and two for the Bryant systems. I was very impressed with the level of professionalism Burkhardt Heating and Cooling brought to the table. I wasnt going to go with the lowest quote but they did give me the best bid and offered duct cleaning services at a price nobody could complete with. They did a great job installing a new system and my father-in-law, who is from the Old Country, commented how great these guys worked. I am immensely impressed with the level of service provided by Burkhardt Heating and Cooling.

On the day of installation the crew showed up on time and were friendly and professional. They cleaned up everything and even repaired an exhaust pipe from the water heater at no extra charge. However, they left when my electrician showed up and never tested the units. I had to wait 4-5 weeks for WE Energies to complete the electrical hookup, then when I turned on the A/C nothing worked, not even the furnace fan. I called to have the units checked. I felt I was unjustly billed for a $59.95 service call, but Doug later removed the charge and they fixed the problem on the second visit. I would have rated them all A's except for the service glitch.

I can't believe that this firm generates so many glowing reports. This was the most unpleasant experience I've had with any contractor, in any profession. The owner and his employees were consistently unresponsive, and the job was never done properly. Their explanation for this was complete nonsense. They washed their hands of it, forcing me to turn the matter over to the manufacturer. I will never allow these people in my home again. UPDATE: A local installer was here on July 14. Within minutes, he verified the compressor problem that Mr. Erdmann and his technicians refused to believe existed. Further tests and an examination of the system led to a solution for the short-cycling, and the AC is operating normally. The local installer saw in minutes what Burkhardt couldn't in three visits! Angie's List readers can read my account and Mr. Erdmann's condescending reply, and come to their own conclusions.

Generally good. Work was performed quickly and efficiently, but we got the sense that the repairman was out to make a sale. The information about new furnaces and heating options was helpful, but we got a sense of foreboding about how the unit was likely to go at any moment. Otherwise, courteous, responsive, helpful, answered questions, and came in below estimate.

THEY WERE PROMPT AND COURTEOUS. HE SET UP HIS EQUIPMENT WITH LITTLE BOTHER TO THE BASEMENT. HE DRILLED THE HOLES IN THE DUCTS, CLEANED ALL THE DUCTS (BOTH HOT AND COLD AIR RETURNS) AND RECAPPED THEM. WAS VERY EFFICIENT.

Very good service, pleasant service person. Were able to accommodate our timetable and come on time. Would recommend them to anyone. We are pleased.

The bid was very fair. They were able to get us in and installed during a heat wave. The work was done on the dates specified. Workers were very friendly and professional.

Arrived on time at rather short notice from me. Quoted on job and finished at the agreed time.

Very professional and did a good job explaining what he was doing to my wife. Found the problem with the relay that was causing a problem. Easily replaced.

They did a good job at a reasonable price. Good customer service. They weren't trying to push us into something fancier than what we could afford or what we needed. They even advised us to go with a less expensive model.

We woke at 5:00 a.m. on the coldest morning of December to discover that we had no heat. Burkhardt's service technicians tried replacing our thermostat and then the thermopile in an effort to keep our old dinosaur running just a bit longer while they worked with our home warranty company on getting the entire furnace replaced. It looked as though the home warranty company couldn't even get the furnace to Burkhardt's until the following Monday (it was Thursday) and we'd be stuck in a hotel waiting things out. Here I was with two small children and a dog trying to call around town for a pet-friendly hotel and feeling pretty close to tears. Imagine my relief when Doug called my husband the very next day to tell him that the old furnace was out and they had managed to get the new furnace installed that afternoon. We were thrilled! Doug and his entire staff treated our emergency as if it were their own. We were impressed and very, very grateful.

Very knowledgeable, prompt, reasonable. Explained things clearly. Performed work (wiring) that should have been performed by the last four companies we have used over the past ten years. We are glad to have finally found a company we feel comfortable in using again should the need arise.

We were very pleased with the service. We intend on using Burkhardt for annual maintenance.

THEY DID A GOOD JOB. THEY WERE PUNCTUAL, POLITE AND EFFICIENT.

Of course the heat in my home went out on a Sunday. I placed a call to Burkhardt's early in the morning and received a return call within the hour. Dave was at my house within 90 minutes of the return call and diagnosed the problem within minutes. He was able to make the repair and restore heat in a short period of time. Dave was professional, polite, and helpful. I would highly recommend Burkhardt's to others and will call them if/when the motor fails. Excellent service in spite of this being an emergency call. The trip charge for emergency service was a bit pricey but the repair couldn't wait based on the weather.

Bill, Lonny and team were all great. Took time to insure the install was going to be the way I wanted it. Took extra steps to move pipes and mount radiators so they look fantastic!

I was very impressed with the technician who completed the work. He was personable, respectful and good at his job. I will be using this company again for future jobs.

Very professional, scheduled work within two weeks of signing, installers and duct cleaner arrived on time and finished early.

ALL THE WORK HAS BEEN COVERED UNDER HSA HOME WARRANTY, WITH BURKHARDT H/A BEING THE CONTRACTED PROVIDER OF SERVICE. THE AMOUNT CHARGED TO ME WAS A $50 DEDUCTIBLE, THE ACTUAL INVOICE AMOUNT WAS AROUND $300 FOR BOTH VISITS. EVERY TIME THEY HAVE BEEN PROMPT AND COURTEOUS.

EXCELLENT SERVICE! THE MAN WHO CLEANED THE DUCTS WAS EARLY, AND I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR HIM TO BE AT MY HOUSE THAT EARLY, BUT HE WAS VERY NICE ABOUT IT. HE GAVE A THOROUGH EXPLANATION OF EVERYTHING HE DID. THE MAN WHO SERVICED THE FURNACE ARRIVED ON TIME AND, AGAIN, GAVE ME A THOROUGH EXPLANATION OF HIS WORK AND GAVE ME A GOOD EVALUATION OF THE OLD FURNACE THAT CAME WITH MY NEW HOUSE.

OVERALL EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE. DOUG PROVIDED ME WITH A LOW-COST OPTION TO MY HEATING PROBLEM. THE GENTLEMEN WHO DID THE DUCT CLEANING AND MODIFICATION WORK, WERE ON-TIME, PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY. I WILL HIRE THEM AGAIN.

THE 2 MAN INSTALLATION CREW ARRIVED ON TIME, WERE FRIENDLY AND INFORMATIVE. THEY COMPLETED THE WORK IN A TIMELY MANNER. THEY PLACED TARPS TO KEEP THE CARPET CLEAN. THE ELECTRICIAN HAD TO RETURN BECAUSE A FAULTY CIRCUIT BREAKER HAD BEEN INSTALLED ON THE NEW A/C, HE DID SO THE SAME DAY AS I REQUESTED.

OUTSTANDING SERVICE COMPANY. WE HAD THEM INSTALL A NEW FURNACE AND A/C IN OUR BASEMENT A FEW YEARS AGO. THEY ARE STILL OUTSTANDING.
