Burkhardt Heating & Air Conditioning

It was a very good experience dealing with this company. Their response time was rapid, and they were quick on the installation. Just yesterday, they gave us the repair or replace option, and early this morning they were able to be here to replace the furnace. Everything went smoothly.

They came the same day, which I couldn't believe! The person was very efficient, explained the problem, and took care of everything! He was very professional, and I would recommend them to anybody!

The owner came out to give the estimate, he prompt, not pushy, and explained the job to be done well. The estimate was the most reasonable of the 4 we got and they were able to schedule the work within the month. Which was not bad considering that twe had already started the heating season. They told us that it might take up to day and a half to install the 2 new furnaces but they were actually done in less than 4 hours with the exception of having the electrician come in to finish the electrical connections which took another hour. The workers were extremely polite, efficient and helpful.

Overall, everything went very well. They came earlier than expected and got it done quicker; everything was very smooth. They had to use two different technicians, both of whom were very friendly and efficient. They answered my questions well, and everything was great. The prices were a little higher than I had anticipated, but we are already considering a maintenance plan with them.

They have a great crew and did a great job. Cleaned everything up very well when they were done and were amazingly professional.

Our furnace was making a funny noise when it was running so we called Burkhart and they came the next morning at eight o'clock. He found out what the problem was and cleaned out the furnace. He was very professional. We received a coupon for their services in the mail for twenty dollars off and we used it.

The date I scheduled the work, I waited for three hours after hearing excuses about a broken car; finally the employee came to say he wasn't feeling well and that I have to call the office and reschedule the job for another day. I wasted my time waiting for them at home, I have to take time off from work. The company never call to reschedule or provide any other options like sending another person to perform the job. ($300.00)

They finished on time and on budget. The work was performed during the winter so they waited to remove old equipment. I forgot to call back for several weeks, maybe months. They came and removed equipment as promised.

I think they made an honest mistake and they took care of it. It was unfortunate that it happened. I have given them the benefit of the doubt.

Doug kept the appointment even though he'd had surgery the day before and was still feeling its effects. He inspected my current unit. As part of his presentation packet, he included ten (10) references. He also had a list of ten (10) reasons his company is different from other heating contractors in Milwaukee which he went through point by point. He carries Bryant and offered price on two models that use Puron. Warranties were explained for each model. He explained that freon is being phased out but that you can still purchase a unit that uses freon. He compared my current unit 8 SEER to a more efficient 13 SEER and the savings in usage over what I currently have.

It was excellent, they were very prompt, courteous, & clean. The guys that came here were very good at working around problems and coming up with solutions. They thought that it may take longer than expected and sent out additional workers to get the job finished, so we could have our air for the weekend. The owner was able to write out the contract when we called.

They do an excellent job. They give price ranges on all services and you can choose what you think is best for your needs. They explain everything and are very nice. Clean up was great and they didn't damage anything while performing their work. I was very happy with them.

The representative that took my initial call went through some basic questions to better understand the job. A visit was scheduled for a few days later. (I also expressed interest in having seasonal maintenance performed on my air conditioner. Representative in office took down my name and promised a courtesy call once the weather was warm enough to return for another trip.) The day before the visit I received a call reminding me of the appointment. On the day of the furnace work, the technician called before arrival, was prompt, very efficient, polite and left the area clean. A few days after the work was completed, I even received a 'thank you' card in the mail! I was impressed start to finish.

We scheduled an appointment. They were right on time for the installation appointment. They worked around our dog such as making sure he didn't get out of the back yard. They cleaned up when they left and I was very happy with them.

We have been using Burkhardt for about six years to service our boiler and have been very happy with the service. When we determined we needed a new boiler, we called Burkhardt first and were thinking that we would probably hire them for the job. Doug Erdman arrived on time. He looked at the existing system and then provided prices for two different kinds of boilers and an indirect hot water heater on the back of a piece of paper. He said he would write up a formal quote if we decided to hire the Company. We were hoping to put in an energy efficient boiler, but the price quoted seemed quite high, so we called one other company to come out and give us an estimate for the same type of boiler and three for a different brand. The other company that bid on the same brand of boiler was approximately 20% cheaper even though they had a reputation for being more expensive. The other company also proposed a smaller size boiler based on a complete calculation of the energy needs of the house. After looking at wholesale prices, the difference in boiler size would not account for the difference in price between the two boilers. All of the other companies provided us a with written estimates specifying all the terms and conditions and proposed a smaller boiler. Given our history with Burkhardt, we were inclined to hire them and were very disappointed at the lack of professionalism. It appeared to us that the company actually did not want to install a high efficiency boiler for us even though they sent a thank you note after the visit. Given the magnitude of the price difference, the fact that we didn't have a full written estimate, and the boiler was one size larger than it needed to be, we decided not to give the Company an opportunity to revise the estimate. In the end, we decided on a different brand of boiler and hired another company.

Doug gave a prompt estimate, price was right on, workers came to the house on time, were friendly, made good suggestions about how to re-route the cold-air return vent, finished the work quickly, and cleaned up well.

Not a problem from estimate until completion. The owner, Doug Erdmann, came out for an estimate and followed up with needed information promptly. The work was scheduled in advance and the workers arrived promptly and completed the work in the time I was told it would take. They were courteous, professional and cleaned up after themselves well. I would not hesitate to hire this company again.

First I contracted them to clean the air ducts which was done very professionally and at the price estimated. May or June 2007. Then they installed air conditioning. July, 2007. This, too was done very well except the installer forgot to add the external filter. They promptly came and added it, probably at much more expense on their part and none on mine. There was a leak due to the hose having a very small elevation that they promptly fixed. Recently I asked for a register to be installed in my basement when I saw Doug at the NARI show. This, too, was done in a timely manner and at the estimated price. I am very happy with them and will call them again if I ever need anything. The person who does the service always sends a thank you card!

They have been great to work with. They show up on time to do the work. They are respectful and either take off their shoes when they come in or put bootie covers over their shoes. They also are very good about explaining any problems that we might have. The approximate cost listed is for the years service; this applies discounts if anything breaks (for example you would receive a discount on parts). We will continue to use them and would defiantly recommend them to others.

Doug, the owner, did a great job explaining everything to us. The technicians could have been a little more conscientious of my home but overall they did a good job.

The woman answering calls asked me how my filter was and recommended changing it, I said that was not the problem. She then asked if I would like to call a technician's cell phone and he would call me back after he finished work on a job. I said I was not in a rush and just needed to set an appointment which she set for the next afternoon. The technician Bud called before arriving and very promptly inspected the furnace and informed me a pipe just needed to be put into the fitting. He fixed that and did some very minor work on other areas of the unit. He was done in about 10 minutes. Because I had to pay the $59.95 diagnostic fee and the $31 flat rate anyhow, I asked if he could tune up the furnace as we had not done it in the three years we had been in our house. I said it was no big deal if their schedule was too busy. He checked and was able to tune up our furnace. The whole visit cost 159.95 and was very pleasant. We received a $20 discount.

The appointment was set within one week of my telephone estimate. We had specifically requested a first AM appointment and they were able to accommodate by scheduling the appointment between 8&9 AM. Joe arrived shortly after 8AM and completed the work within 3 hours. He drilled a couple of small holes in the furnace vent which he plugged up before leaving. He seemed to be very efficient and paid attention to small details. This service was apparently very much needed as he was able to clean out a lot of dust and dirt. The only disappointment was that he did not vacuum up the dust left from cleaning the cold air returns.

I made an appointment over the phone to have work completed based on an estimate from a previous furnace inspection. In the morning, Kurt phoned to say he was on his way and arrived within 20 minutes. He got right to work and finished in less than one hour. There was barely any noise and absolutely no mess.

I called Burkhardt based off of their reviews here on Angie's List and they were one of six bids that I received for this job. The reason I went with Burkhardt was Doug Erdmann and the way he gave his estimate. He asked what I wanted, then explained my options. He explained why he carries Bryant and why he likes their equipment. He also impressed me by not trying to say exactly how the duct work would be run. He said that his installers would have to make the final decision based on what they found as they were installing them. That showed me he knew what the job entailed. The work itself was estimated at three days, and actually took three and a half. They showed up on time on the day scheduled with a three man crew and quickly got to work. The crew took very few breaks and did wonderful work and cleaned up nicely. The duct work looks and works great. Having air returns on the second floor has made a huge difference. I would recommend Burkhardt to anyone.

The young lady that answered the phone for Burkhardt was very professional. She explained that having the ducts cleaned would not take care of the dust problem if there was a build up over a period time. The workers showed up on time and did an excellent job in cleaning the duct. We had the furnace inspected, which was over twenty-five years old. The workers informed us the furnace was not working properly and needed to be replaced or repaired. Mr. Erdmann met with us and explain the various furnaces made by Bryant and the cost. There was no pressure to replace our old furnace by Mr. Erdmann. He was very professional in his presentation and answered all our questions. We definitely do business with Burkhardt again.
