Burkhardt Heating & Air Conditioning

i was scheduled for service between 1100-1pm. they arrived at 130 pm. i was concerned as i had to leave for an appt by 215 and didn't realize that cleaning my vents would take 2-3 hrs. however, Nicky had called to tell me they were on there way at about 1 PM. i called back at 130 to ask nicky about there arrival and she was surprised they weren't there yet. when the guys got there they asked if nicky had called me and i told them yes but had just expected them earlier. I told them my concern about the timing due to an appt but they were ok with me leaving the house with the dog with them. they also expressed concern about leaving the door open so the cats wouldn't get out which i really appreciated. they reviewed the house for the vents. i told them i would be back about 330 and said they would be done by that time. asked if i could pay before i left which was fine. i was surprised that the vent cleaning for a 1200 sq foot house would cost $315. that was my error i didn't ask ahead of time. i was just eager to get it done as had recently had sewage back up in the basement. one of the guys pointed out that my filter was dirty and recommended picking up a new one as i didn't have any on hand. when i got back they were gone. overall things were back in order except the dining room had quite a bit of soot outside one of the vents on the rug. it vacuumed up fine but thought maybe that vent had been overlooked. the other vents really had only minimal soot. have had this company many times before for my heating/ac and have always been very accommodating. i give them an overall A rating because of there acceptance and concern for my animals. the other items are secondary for me but may be more important to other customers. thanks burkhardt.

Installed AC unit in back yard and blower in attic to direct air through ceiling in main floor of home. Linked baseboard heating to boiler in basement. The whole process went well from start to finish. Doug's bid was considerably lower than any other for the same unit. Work crews arrived on time, were very professional, explained everything, cleaned up completely and left things just as they had found them. I was very pleased.

The service man took the time to check out an elusive fan rattle. We're always pleased with their service.

I had a wonderful experience! His price was the lowest out of anyone I called, he was on time and followed up on the consultation with a phone call and a thank-you note. We were very impressed with his service. When I came home, it didn't even look like there had been workmen in the house.

Working with them has been wonderful. When I went to buy the first furnace it was about 2000, I had 8 estimates. I decided to go with Burkhardt because he said he always has someone available and when there is an emergency he is the one who answers. The guys worked quickly and efficiently. They cleaned up after themselves and I was very impressed with their service. In 2006, it was very cold out and I had an apartment building. The furnace I had was providing heat to 3 units. I called to have them come out and check the furnace and even though there was just 1 employee scheduled to work, they called in a 2nd employee to come and check out the furnace. They have gone above and beyond. Most recently, I called them because there was a strange noise coming from the furnace. The old furnace had a humidifier and the fan was still connected to the new furnace, he simply disconnected the old humidifier and the problem was solved. He didn't even charge me for labor for this call. I would give them an A+. I will continue to use them!

My service request was quite unusual... my duplex had only one forced air furnace for both units (shared air) and I wanted to split the utilities so each tenant could control air temperature individually. Since this wasn't a typical furnace replacement, the amounts of my estimates were all over the place. Doug from Burkhardt was very upfront about costs and complications associated with the project, and lived up to my expectations. I don't think they were the cheapest, but they were affordable seemed the very qualified. I'm writing this two years after the fact... they did an excellent job!

I live in a 95 year-old duplex. In 2005, I had a new, high-efficiency furnace installed by another contractor for the lower rental unit. Unfortunately, this unit demonstrated some unresolved venting issues from day one. By 2008, the original installer had been bought out by another company. The new company charged far more for annual tuneups, and unfortunately had "no record or recollection of any work performed " earlier, so I selected Burkhardt Heating from Angie's List to service my units. I'm glad I did. Although my "new" unit was still having problems, Burkhardt helped me work through the issues. They got the manufacturer involved, and followed all the trouble-shooting directives the manufacturer mandated. It's unbelievable, but between December 2008 and December 2009, they were in more than ten times. The problems were sporadic and intermittent, and eluded diagnosis. It was an extremely frustrating experience for me, but the one bright spot was the professionalism exhibited by Doug Erdmann and the staff at Burkhardt. I'm sure they must have been frustrated at times, but it never showed. I'll admit I called them a lot, sometimes not in a very nice mood. They listened to my problems and always suggested solutions. They counseled me on working with the manufacturer toward a resolution. My questions were always answered, and everything explained to me. Due to the maddening nature of this furnace to go down after business hours and on weekends, then be up and running minutes before the technician arrived, I was in frequent communication with Burkhardt. My calls were always answered, response time always feasible, and they always stayed in communication. The technicians were thorough and honest, and did everything as directed by the manufacturer. The manufacturer representative told me they would "replace the furnace if it would not run." Since initial installation, the venting was changed another two times, inducer motors were replaced two more times, the circuit board was replaced, and the pressure switches replaced. On January 8, 2010, the manufacturer recommended replacing the thermostat (which had been replaced in 2007). Burkhardt did so. At this time, Doug Erdmann took the situation in hand. He knew I had been pretty much encamped in my basement for the past month, continually re-setting my furnace, attempting to generate heat for my 84 year-old tenant. Doug "did the right thing" and made the decision to install a new furnace that day, complete with warranty. I did not have to pay for any of this. Doug told me he would take up my cause with the manufacturer, and I would no longer have to deal with them. My new Bryant furnace has been working fine, and I can leave the house now! To me, Burkhardt Heating embodies the good old-fashioned American values of decency, accountability, honesty, integrity, and simply "doing right by the customer". I hope they stay in business a long time, because I don't want to give my service to anybody else.

Friendly service, communicative regarding arrival time and what could affect it on the day of (emergency heating calls). Friendly and informative serviceman efficiently took care of what he needed to, showed me various parts and details within the furnace, explained option of replacing igniter, discussed efficiency of my unit versus other models, recommended specific kind of furnace filter.

They cleaned up and did a very good job. They were very prompt and curteous. I would recommend them to anyone.

They were punctual and did a thorough job. They were able to explain everything and allowed me to understand the process. For the cost, I found a coupon that offered me $20 off of service from this company. They didn't give me any trouble when I wanted to use it. They provided a great service for me and I will consider calling on them again in the future.

I have been looking for a new furnace system and I?ve had them out along with five other vendors to give me quotes. What I have since discovered is that they are not knowledgeable about a Carrier system and I should have gotten a rebate but I was not given the information. I?ve had three other vendors tell me that I should have received over $1,000 off for a new system when my secondary heat exchange went out. Burkhardt did not steer me in the right direction. When I asked for a quote, he wrote a few things randomly down in a list format on a scrap of paper rather than giving me an itemized list like everyone else did. Four other vendors told me that my equipment was the wrong size for this house but Burkhardt recommended the same size which is too small. The quote they gave me was higher than the others but it was for the wrong equipment. Before I heard from these other companies, I thought they were fine but now I know otherwise. They are responsive and diligent but unless you get information from other companies, you wouldn't know that Burkhardt doesn't know what he's doing.

Everything was excellent. There was one glitch with something that was hooked up incorrectly, but when it was caught by the gas company they showed up and fixed it at no charge. They came back in May to hook the air conditioner up as well. I was very happy with them and would certainly use them again.

The experience was extremely positive. They gave us a rough estimate on the air conditioning when they did the furnaces. We called them up and were able to take care of the estimate over the phone. They honored the same estimate that they gave us 8 months earlier. They were able to schedule with a week and they came out. They did the work efficiently. There was one minor problem with one of the air conditioners. They came out the next day and took care of it. I would use them again.

Went well, listened to input and made decision together on what part to try replacing. He was able to source the part locally and came back the same day to install it. This is very helpful to someone who has to take a day off of work to have this type of work done. Cost was very reasonable with the part being 375 so only ~100 for 2 hours of work plus drive time.

Our A/C stopped blowing cold air so we contacted Burkahardt to investigate and fix the problem. Our HVAC Tech was extremely helpful, professional, very personable, and quickly figured out we needed more Freon. He recommended a future replacement part and helped showed us how to keep the 2nd floor cool. He explained how our system worked, why the part was recommended, and his suggestion for keeping our house cool in the summer has worked beautifully.

I have used them at least 3 times before. They are good. They gave me a quote before doing the job and I paid them the same amount.

We were having some problem where the air conditioner would not turn off when it was supposed too. We would have it set at 76 and it would go down to 72 so we called Burkhardt and they came right out. The gentleman who came out looked everything over and ended up calling the manufacturer and went through all of the settings. They found out that the humidity setting on the air conditioner was set to low. He explained how to watch and calculate the setting that it should be at and showed me how to set it. He was very thorough and concise. He spent about an hour and a half at my house trying to figure out what was wrong. The visit ended up being free because it was a service that was covered by the warranty.

They did a routine maintenance of the furnace during their last visit. They are very professional and thorough. They are on time. They don t seem like money minded people. They are very responsive. I do not have any complaints at all. It has been a good experience working with them.

I have been using this company since 1964. They are reliable and excellent year in and year out. It was during the holiday weekend but they came out right away anyway. My furnace was not working at all. The office has a very good response and they provide excellent service. They looked at it until they figured out what was wrong and they got the part they needed to fix the furnace. I have never had a negative reaction with this company and I will continue using them in the future.

On one of the coldest days of the year one my furnaces in my duplex stopped heating(it was a Sunday). Rather than pay the emergency charge, I made due with many space heaters. Called first thing on Monday morning(approximately 7:30)and someone was at my house by 10. They were able to get the parts required and fixed it very quickly. Explained to me exactly what was being repaired and showed me the failed parts.

They are price competitive, reliable, and I have always been pleased with their service.

The furnace went out at 3:00 am and I turned to Angie's List and found someone to fix the furnace. They came out the next day and fixed the furnace it was great. It was a good value. I got what I wanted at a reasonable price.

They came on time, the charge was exactly what they said it would be. They were nice people. As far as I can determine everything was done well. I would happily use them again.
