We choose Burkhardt Heating & Air Conditioning after getting 4 quotes from other contractors. Burkhardt Heating & Air Conditioning by far had the best and most thorough quoting process out of all the contactors we had quote the job. Burkhardt Heating & Air Conditioning did not try to push us into a heating and air conditioning system we did not need for the amount of square footage we have in the house, they did not try to up sell us, and once we agreed on all of the components and requirements for installation, Burkhardt provided a detailed itemized appraisal/bill that spelled out everything we needed to know. I felt immediate trust once Burkhardt Heating & Air Conditioning entered our house, I did not feel this with the other contractors we got quotes from. From the removal of the very old furnace, to the installation of the new furnace Burkhardt Heating & Air Containing was very professional, very friendly, and very clean. Once the installation was completed, the installers provided a detail walk through, and explanation of how to operate and maintain the new heating and air containing unit. All that said the only heating and air conditioning contractor I would go with is Burkhardt Heating & Air conditioning, they are the best. Excellent price as well.

Service tech came in, did the job competently, didn't try to up-sell a bunch of additional services I didn't need and didn't invent repairs that were unnecessary. Not a high bar to cross, but, I've experienced this in the past with other companies and it is not helpful to keeping customers coming back. Bottom line, they did a good job and met my expectations.

The "tune-up" of the furnace went as described. The motor in the a/c system was shot and they recommend that the a/c be replaced before the next cooling season. Replacing the motor in the old system was going to be ~$500 so it makes more sense to get a new system.

I was impressed the owner, Doug, personally came to the house to provide a quote. He explained the types of furnaces available and went through the installation process from start to finish, He took the time to answer all of my questions. I really like the 10 year warranty. Installation occured on schedule and the installers were courteous and did a terrific job. We were very happy. However, when they called the following business day three times within 25 minutes about a discrepency in the amount I was charged, they accused me of not wanting to pay when I was simply asking for clarification between what our contract said, what the tech said and what the office believed we owed. The statement that I was "one of those people" who did not want to pay by Doug, greatly offended me as I have never not paid a bill and I only wanted to clarify what they felt I owed and why. The matter was resolved when I got home and could see the contract and the invoice. I called Doug the following morning and told him we would pay the additional amount. He apologized for the accusation. In spring when we replace our air conditioner, we will be reluctant to use Burkhardt again due to the accusations. That said, the tech was very professional and the installation of our new furnace went in without any problems. This review is written by Dale, Dawn's husband.

The service person diagnosed the problem and came up with a simple solution, not easy. I was very satisfied with every aspect of their service.

It went very well. It took two visits to troubleshoot. First visit a new capacitor was installed since existing one was going bad. Fan stopped working again during the night. Next visit a new blower motor was installed due to a faulty switch. Everything is working well so far.

Dennis Paul FAILED to recognize and notify me of a crack in the Heat Exchanger in my Armstrong 'Magic' unit. Without replacing this, flames from the burner would eventually contact surfaces they SHOULD NOT; the eventual outcome would be refusal to continue heating. I learned of this via a thorough check of the unit six months later by Burant Heating & AC, whom I had dealt with previously. Lack of response by Burkhardt on 6/15/16, when my A/C failed, forced me to return to Burant, who replaced the bad Heat Exchanger. I'll stay with Burant; NO MORE BURKHARDT!!

Employees were very professional and installation looked great. They were happy to answer any questions and very detailed in explaining new system.

I kind of have to use them again. My furnace is warrantied with them. Their duct work was kind of sloppy. I believe I've seen better. I called them back and they were kind of huffy about it but they did come out and fix it. The electrician they used put the conduit right in front of the furnace vent so I couldn't move the vent lever at all. It was like a blind man did it. But then it wasn't them, it was their contracted electrician that came out so I can't knock them too bad except for the fact that they used the guy. I would tell some one using them to really watch what they are doing carefully.

It was a very good service. He was very friendly and nice.

Technician arrived promptly and quickly identified that the unit had a block of ice due to no freon. Technician spent 30 minutes removing the block of ice by turning on the furnace to heat things up. The remaining 2 hours was spent removing a dirty filter, cleaning the outside unit, and identifying a leak in the coils. My tenant reports the technician did spend considerable time on the phone with another technician discussing the other technician's separate job. I'm not sure the 2.5 hours billed were productive hours for the technician per the reports from my tenant. I was told that the R22 unit precluded the technician from solving the cooling issue by adding freon. He told me he could lose his license if he added freon to an R22 unit. I don't enough to dispute the validity of that claim. Because the work to identify the source of and the subsequent repair of the coil would cost $800-$1200 I felt I had no choice but to explore replacing the HVAC unit altogether. The woman at the office kindly set me up for a visit from the owner Kurt the next day to quote me a price on a new unit. The company owner Kurt arrived, was greeted by my tenant and after pleasantries was led downstairs by my tenant. As they walked my tenant asked how long it would take to get a new unit installed in the condo. Kurt said it would be at least 7 days and my tenant questioned if it could be done sooner. Kurt proceeded to tell the tenant how busy they are and that "you are just a renter, I'll deal with the landlord." When asked to repeat himself, Kurt repeated this statement again. My tenant took offense to this and told Kurt so. Both parties have told me things went downhill from there and Kurt was quickly asked to leave. Kurt admits to me he delayed, despite numerous request, in leaving the unit. He delayed he told me so that he could to look the job requirements over ,write some things down, and that he chose to leave out the door he wanted rather than the quickest way out. In addition , my tenant claims Kurt turned around and stared him down multiple times on the stairs. Kurt admitted to me he could have handled things better. Kurt I and I have spoken and had a few good conversations but today Kurt is blaming the situation solely on my tenant, calling him "a typical millennial who gets what they want by bullying others around." He repeated this seeming disdain for millenials on a Facebook post upon Burkhardt's page responding to a post by my tenant. I hope he understands the dangers of stereotyping a few decades of his future/present clients. Kurt initially offered to complete the job at the price of roughly $2800-$3300 for a new unit with credit given for the $189 from the visit the day prior. However today we mutually have agreed it's probably best to part ways following this incident. When I asked Kurt if he would consider not charging me the $189 for yesterday's initial service call in light of what happened his response was a snide he'd "have to check to see if his technician was Ok with not being paid". I feel for the most part Kurt showed me respect as the customer but I cannot say the same for how he admitted to his dealings with my tenant and for his disdain in general for millennials and renters. If you are asking Burkhardt to deal with your renter or you are a younger customer I would be cautious. I trusted Angie's list on this one and felt it let me down.

Came out same day. The price was a little high for the part, but I was pleased with everything else.

Rick was very personable and explained details as he performed the task of analyzing the problem and the solution for the repair. Very knowledgeable. Would use again! Thanks to Rick, I have heat once again! The lady that answered my call was extremely kind as well! By the way, Rick called me and informed me of a cancellation and gave me an earlier time when he could come and he was there right on time!!!

Suddenly the motor in my furnace went out on the coldest day of the year. Burkhardt Heating & Air Conditioning was able to come out within 24 hours and install a new unit. I really appreciated this because it was on a Friday, otherwise I would have had to wait until Monday. They really took care of me and were very courteous. They even brought extra people in so they could get it done in one day. They did a good job cleaning up after themselves. I can't say enough for them. I would highly recommend their service.

Dennis did an excellent job! He spent an hour performing maintenance services and explaining the importance of an annual tune-up as well as outlining what steps should and could be done in the future--all with an eye to keeping future maintenance costs low. I liked Dennis because he was very knowledgable and very understandable.

We live in a duplex as a single family so there are two separate furnaces (both about 30 years old). Other companies I spoke with would only give me a discount on 1 furnace check & charge me full price for the 2nd furnace because it's 1 discount per home. I tried to explain that we are 1 family & it's only 1 stop for the company (versus going to multiple homes) & other companies wouldn't budge. Also, I was trying to schedule for October & several companies I called were booking out to December. Burkhardt listened & was responsive to our particular situation. They gave us the discounted rate for both furnaces. The work was done timely & thoroughly and the technician explained things in a way we could understand. He also gave an honest assessment, telling us that 1 furnace was working well & efficiently (as efficiently as an old furnace can) & the 2nd furnace was also working but not working as well & running very inefficiently. I asked if there were any safety concerns in not getting it replaced at this time, and he said no. This is where a company could leave something vague & lead you to think that an expensive replacement/repair were critical, even it weren't. Burkhardt did not do that. I was impressed & decided to have the Burkhardt company return for an estimate for replacing both furnaces. We're in the middle of a moving decision - so he gave me his recommendations for what we should do if we knew we were moving AND for what might want to do (upgrade) if we were staying more years in our home. Again, this was individually tailored advice & not leading or pressuring to spend more than necessary. They also offered an additional discount should we do both furnaces at the same time. Most impressive is that company representative explained everything, wrote it all down, & again - listened to our individual situation, not just a set package of details & product-pushing given to any potential customer. We did not decide yet on the work, but when we do the replacements - it will definitely be with Burkhardt!
